Out this way today and stumbled across this place. I must say, this is truly a hidden gem. This is a really nice decorated restaurant and they have a spacious play area for kids also. Micah, greeted me and gave me some great recommendations. I went with the teriyaki and garlic chicken plate that came with rice and macaroni salad. Wow! The chicken was very tender and had tone of flavor. They use chicken thighs which holds way more flavor than chicken breast and won't dry out. I'm still tasting it as I do this review. The rice has a sweet taste and the macaroni salad, was way better than what I've had in Hawaii!! It had so much flavor and was not dried out. Then I went back for their signature cookie. I think I may have come in with expectations that were a little too high. Overall, the food was decent, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We tried the kalua pork, steak, and chicken. im not a big fan of american pulled pork but when i have that craving, my taste buds want kalua pig. very grateful that there's a spot in crestview to satisfy that craving. and if im being honest, the mac salad steals the show. i legit want a a bowl of the mac salad with the kalua pig on the side. i dont even need the rice. but they do season the rice nicely, its not bland and boring white rice like one would expect. it's a take out place so dont come here expecting dine in service, although there are tables inside and outside if you prefer to eat in but you order at the counter regardless, its very clean and nice inside. food comes out quickly. read more

I recently visited Pounders Hawaiian Grill in Crestview, and I can honestly say the food has definitely improved since my last visit. The Kahlua pig stood out right away--it's no longer overly salty, which is a great sign that they've made real improvements in both preparation and consistency. The new location clearly brought a fresh revitalization to both the crew and the food. Everything felt more energized and well put together. The decor was modern and definitely fit the local vibe. The young man who checked us out at the register was especially kind and laid-back. He seemed fairly new and a bit shy, but his customer service was excellent and very welcoming. My cousin ordered the teriyaki steak, which unfortunately came out a bit tough and cold at first and had to be sent back. However, she did admit that once corrected, it was really good, and the staff handled the issue appropriately. Overall, this location shows noticeable improvement compared to past visits. The macaroni salad is a big hit and continues to be a standout side. And the teriyaki sauce used on both the steak and chicken is absolutely amazing--so good it honestly deserves to be bottled and sold for retail. Pounders in Crestview is on point big shout out to its manager Napu. The atmosphere is inviting bringing in that aloha spirit. Its good to go into an Island restaurant and actually see some island staff back on the grill. The beef stew was on special I bel8eve for the month of April. Very hearty stew especially if you want to knock the kids out for the evening. The stew as they say in Hawaii "Broke Da Mouth"..lol...Must try their other items from the misusing ro the garlic chicken, teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken..the kalua pork is on point also have to try their kalua pork sandwich when its available. I was super excited to find a Hawaiian plate lunch place. Being a local girl from Maui I was not disappointed. The place is very clean and lots of aloha with how they decorated the inside. Lots of reference to the Hawaiian culture. Aloha first as their uniforms say. Too bad no merchandise was available for sale. I would have bought a shirt or pullover. The food was delicious and my only dislike was that they ruined my rice with that sauce. I prefer my sticky rice plain, so it can enhance the flavor of the meat. Fast casual Hawaiian spot in North Crestview. We were traveling and staying the night in Crestview and found this spot with a lot of highly rated reviews. The building is modern unlike most of the town; parking is easy in their lot. The concept is a lot like Chipotle but with the Hawaiian cuisine style. We got the pounders plate with 2x chicken, and pig, with rice and Mac salad. Everything was pretty solid and the portions are generous as well. The chicken was a bit overly charred at some spots. I drove from Andalusia to Crestview after working today because I was craving a Philly. Tried to place an online order around 8:15 PM and it stated I could not place an order for today, even though they were open until 9 PM. I arrived at Jersey Mike's at 8:30 PM only for the six employees standing inside to tell me, sharply, that they were out of bread, which seems odd being the only thing you make are sandwiches. However, this frustrating inconvenience allowed me to find Pounders Hawaiian Grill, which is conveniently located across the street. They also close at 9PM however they not only had fresh, amazing food, but they were extremely welcoming and allowed me to sit and eat even past closing. Every employee was so polite and accommodating, even came to my table to see if I needed anything, a couple times. The atmosphere was so refreshing after a very long day. Clean, cozy, just felt like a place you could relax. The food was absolutely amazing...steak and chicken teriyaki with brown rice and veggies. Amazing staff! Amazing location! And amazing portions! This was a shocker to us Cali folks trying Hawaiian food from another state, but boy were we glad we got this recommendation. Such a huge location and super nice staff. We decided to order curbside, which is was the best plan for us because we had some very hungry kid at home and needed to quickly pick something up. The website was so easy to use over the phone and they gave good instructions to pull up to their dedicated parking spots. As soon as we pulled in, a member of their staff immediately came out to greet us with a smile. She was super attentive and quickly took our name and came back with our order. We were even a few minutes early to our pick up time and was so delighted that they had our order ready. Ordered their 3 meat plates, which is the best bang for your buck if you're feeding a village like we were. Tried everything they had and even tried their delicious sides. Rice was fantastic. Flavorful and just the right soft mushy texture I like. Portions were perfect. Not overflowing like Chinese spots, but not under-scooped at all. Parking and location was great! They just opened a new spot across from their old location with plenty of parking. I even saw some food trucks with expresso and energy drinks. There's a double door entrance that leads you into their big dining room. You'll fall in line first and food gets delivered to your table. There's a clear pick up online ordering register as well, which is what we used to order a few of their delicious sauces. The garlic sauce ($.50 each) is a MUST and they also had a sweet pineapple bbq sauce (free) that was super yummy too. I'll definitely be coming back, not only because the food was good, but their team and process to pick up food was so easy and convenient. My wife worked at Aloha Juice in Honolulu and made sure I had plenty of good S&S saimin and Hawaiian Sun guava drinks to take to sea with me. I really miss real saimin. Pounders was delicious. I had the kalua pork and teriyaki steak, with the rice and macaroni salad, and a Royal Hawaiian cookie (chocolate chip, macadamia nuts, and coconut). That macaroni salad was the star of the meal. I wish I'd gotten a side to take home. Everything else was very tasty too. My sister let me try her garlic chicken, and next time I'd get that over the kalua pork. Or maybe I'd just get a box of macaroni salad (just kidding). They stayed busy throughout our visit, but the food was served quickly. Several workers checked that we were okay after we got our food, which was nice, and the kids loved the outdoor play area.
