I'm stunned this location has a low rating, as the customer service and product selection is really great. I quickly ran in for a purchase pickup, and was greatly with not only a welcome in but a very pleasant scent. As I was waiting for my order I browsed the home fragrance section and discovered the candle 'Paperwhite.' There was no way I was leaving it as it's clean and inviting notes were really captivating. As I look around my home I notice my Pottery Barn couches, my backyard full of Pottery Barn lanterns & candles, my bed is currently adorned with the Pottery Barn Christmas tree quilt, my guest room has the Clayton quilt set....clearly I have spent thousands of dollars at Pottery Barn and the one time I say "hey guys, this product isn't working" you treat me like trash. You act as though I stole pillows because I don't have a receipt from this summer, knowing full well you can look it up using my phone/account number. This was an awful experience, but one I have learned from. Pottery Barn does not support their customers nor do they stand by their products. Message received. Consider this our break up! In early October, while looking to redecorate my bedroom, Pottery Barn was where I wanted to go to buy furniture for quality and style. It was my dream to have a bedroom they showcased. I went there and found exactly what I wanted and ordered two pieces, a couch and a buffet meant for my entertainment center. The couch was scheduled to deliver mid December because it was custom made and the buffet, late October-early November. When I checked on the status of the buffet, they changed delivery date to APRIL-MAY OF NEXT YEAR. Needless to say, I cancelled my order because it was not reasonable to wait that long for a buffet while paying $2700 for it. I find it disheartening for such a pricey unit to take so long to get delivered. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Too bad the company isn't as good as their employees. read more

I purchased a sectional sofa on Nov 13 the day before a 30% sale event was closing. Mind you I won't receive it until mid January. It was a custom piece so no changes no returns. Leslie a store designer at the Lynnwood, WA store assisted me. The next day I called to change the color, same fabric different color, no price change. I left a message for Leslie (who made a commission) to request the change to another color. She had another person return the call with a "no, it can't be changed". Not even the courtesy to call me back herself. I called corporate and was told the same thing. The sofa has not even started production. I'm very upset but because of a recent stroke I'm trying to stay calm. All I can say is I will try to like the color I ordered. I will never set foot in a Pottery Barn again! I received excellent service through a representative in the store, her name is Sandy. I was looking to view a particular piece of furniture before I purchased it and wanted to come in and look at it. She went above and beyond locating it for me and making sure I could see it before I made the hour and a half drive. She also assisted me in purchasing it, we tried to get it delivered but I live too far away so she made sure it was wrapped for me so I can safely transport it. I purchased a floor model. She spent a lot of time with me on the phone and coordinating the effort. Sandy is a stellar ambassador for the PB company. I definitely recommend the store. read more

This is a nice store at Alderwood. I don't shop here much because it's not in my budget...I have four kids that are very active...so I plan on having nice things when I'm dead. The store is very clean, employees are helpful. They have so many things that I would love to buy...when you walk in those beds are so inviting...if they wouldn't notice, I would definitely crawl in and give it a try....you know...just for an hour or so. They have some nice furniture pieces, fun little items, and stuff I can afford...like bathrobes, or knick knacks....lol I usually walk thru Pottery Barn to get to the Sephora because of they way parking is in that mall (which is terrible). So I "window shop" more than anything else. read more

Awful experience TWICE for the same purchase. First, I went in to purchase a very expensive item. The sales rep had me wait for over half an hour while she looked for a manager, left me by myself and apparently never asked for help. Once the manager arrived, she just handed me back to the rep, who was so new she didn't even have codes to their system. The rep first ordered the wrong item, canceled the order, ran my card a second time and loudly told me in front of other customers that my card had been declined, so I must not have enough money to pay. Once an experienced staff member arrived, the payment went right through. Second, I arrived to pick up my item, they had me wait outside in the rain for someone to bring it out. And they brought the wrong item! Apparently they fulfilled the wrong item on my order. The worst. Terrible experience and staff here. Stay away. read more

My daughter purchased a glass vase at Pottery Barn a few years ago. I broke it accidentally. Though she said "that's ok Dad," I knew that she really liked the vase. The next day I went to the Lynnwood Pottery Barn, hoping to find a suitable replacement. After showing the sales women the broken vase, she (Associate # 219897) asked if I could Wait a bit while she looked for one in the warehouse/back room, as there was none on display. I recently purchased a gorgeous, upholstered bed from Pottery Barn. The quality and look of the bed is wonderful, as it should be for its Pottery Barn price tag. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed with the customer experience. First off, I was told at the Alderwood Mall store that my custom bed would take 3-4 weeks. When 3-4 weeks had passed, I checked my confirmation email to see that the bed I had ordered in May would not be delivered until August/September. When August rolled around, I finally got a text message saying my order from Williams Sonoma would be delivered. This was confusing, as I ordered my bed from Pottery Barn. I scheduled my delivery date for today, 8/5. I received a voicemail yesterday telling me my delivery window would be between 3:30 and 5:30. I then received an automated message today at 1:36 saying my delivery was 20 minutes away. I had to rush home from work to meet the delivery crew before 2:00. Once the crew got here, they did not take their shoes off or put on shoe covers when entering my house. This is not something I would expect from "White Glove Delivery." They assembled my bed and left. I didn't think I needed to inspect their work, but now I realize that I should have, as they did not properly assemble the bottom drawers. One overlaps the other, so they cannot both close. The bed was assembled carelessly upon delivery, and I'm still surprised anyone would walk away from side-by-side drawers that could not close at the same time, and tell me to my face that the job was done. It is apparent that the issue was not due to lack of skill or knowledge, but that the White Glove assemblers were trying to leave as soon as possible. I can't imagine they were late for another appointment, as they showed up to mine an hour and a half earlier than the start of the delivery window. It is a shame that Pottery Barn's designers have produced such attractive products, but retail stores and delivery teams cannot see those products through to customer satisfaction. read more

Then come to find out they just didn't want to do the return. The online staff said they could do a mailed credit for the product. So I came back and they are rude about that too. How often do you have such a great customer service experience that you want to tell everyone? Not as often as you'd like sometimes, right? So, on that note - Michael is the best. He spent several hours with us selecting our dining set and other furnishings, talking us through the size of our rooms and what would fit/look best. I got fantastic customer service at this Pottery Barn today! I wanted 2 shelves, and they only had one in stock, so they ordered the other one for me. She was unsure if the order went through and wanted to make sure it did without taking up my time, so she called the service center after I'd left and then called my cell phone to confirm that my order was complete! Now that's great service :). My love for Pottery Barn is no secret as my entire house is covered in it. They have a great selection of home decor as long as you're not on too strict of a budget. I forgot that Pottery Barn has a location in Alderwood since it is on the 'outdoor' portion of the mall and I don't often park on that side of the mall. I was more than thrilled to find it as I pulled in (I actually squealed). A good friend registered there and the items I wanted was backordered online for months. I had hopes that perhaps I could find it in store and then ship them myself. This store isn't as large of a location due to space. They carried some of everything but not like the U. Village location. I was able to find the items which I wanted but not in the right size. I asked someone to help me locate a size or if they had any in the back. I was told they had one of the items but not the other. I asked if she could check another location and she said she would gladly. However, she made me wait for 15 mins while she talked to another customer while they hmm'ed and hah'ed over a purchase before she even picked up the phone to call. I was glad that she was able to locate the other item I needed but was a bit miffed that a $100 robe wasn't worthy of her attention. I've never shopped there personally prior to this and did not register there for my wedding. After seeing they do not offer free shipping on their website, I am glad I didn't. read more

Then when I attempt asking one of them about the bed size, the lady their answered by shaking her head only, not even yes or no, she just shook her head. Ongoing saga of a special order ! Bought a bed back on September 6. The sales person was lovely ! we have no problem there... The problem comes when we still not have received our order.... several emails have more or less dismissed the fact that we are at a loss here. We were told that our PAYMENT would not be debited until we have received the item (special order bed). What they do NOT tell you is that once the bed is delivered to the delivery service, it is considered to be in your own hands therefore they take their money! This was weeks ago:((((( We were told a delivery date 3 times and 3 times it has been push back... someone should have been in touch again to arrange a delivery day for this week, we are still waiting.... The mails we received in response to our complaint did not help at all...Can someone give us advice on what to di next? read more

I had several large mirrors, shelves etc from potterybarn that needed hanging. I didn't dare attempt it myself. While I was the potterybarn at Alderwood mall, an associate overheard me and recommended Jacob Hansen from the West Elm store in Bellevue. They took my number and the next day Jake followed up. I could not be happier with his work. He hung several heavy mirrors and shelves as well as a set of three extra large pottery barn Aiden mirrors in my living room. He managed to arrange them perfectly level which was no small feat. They look amazing! Jake has a design and photography degree which I drew on for other ideas around my home. I look forward to working with him in the future. He is based out of West Elm Bellevue but can be contacted thru any west Elm or potterybarn stores. Thanks Jake! read more

This place is so disappointing. Although I am beginning to sense it is the company culture more so than just this store. It hurts because the quality of their stuff has always been so good. Too bad the sales staff seems entitled and lazy. I asked when the floor model of a bar would be on sale and the associate told me it is a staple in their store and never goes on sale. He thought it not even worth it to take my number. Flash forward I would say literally a week definitely not more than two weeks I get an email stating the floor model is for sale. I run in on Monday to try and snag it and they have already sold it. The little guy thought he ought to twist the knife in a little deeper and inform me that the manager ended up giving the person who bought it a 30% discount instead of the stated 20%. I wanted to totally lose my mind, but part of me felt like these people are just so incapable that I should give them a break. I walked out without my bar that was still sitting there mind you waiting to be picked up. Now it's Thursday and I get an email that bar is on sale online! Should b joyous except there is a $50 service charge and a $200 shipping charge. Called the customer care center and explained my sad sad story. The little fella on the line was not impressed and said they can't wave any shipping. Totally unphased by my poor experience up to this point. I have thousands upon thousands of dollars spent there in the last 3 months or so. I am just shocked that they are not willing to make things right. At this point I would consider purchasing another bar from anywhere else and boycotting this company for all time. You can't treat your customers like they are shopping at wal Mart and expect them to pay premium prices. read more

Don't normally shop at Pottery Barn but went there today to check out a jewelry box I saw online. I only saw the smaller version on display, so after some searching I asked the ladies at the register if they had it. There was no one else at the counter and two employees at the register. The employees, both older ladies, didn't look at me once during this exchange. Literally. I could have been breakdancing and making faces at them and they would have had no idea. The one that spoke flipped through a catalog the entire time and the other one was fascinated by something behind the counter. I don't know how you can work in customer service and suck so bad at customer service. Also, their products are crap. read more

I like Pottery Barn products and I've purchased a lot of furnitures from the store. But personel here are incredible slow, unfriendly, mean!!!. If you do not have plenty of time and do not want to see grumpy old women, don't go there! There is a guy that helped me with an order.. He didn't tell me the total price. I spent over an hour waiting at the counter.....He suggested the options were not avalible. He also managed to screw up the price. Geee.... I really don't want to go back to THIS store. I've been in this store not once, but twice now to buy a king sized bed, bedding, and a large sectional. Neither time was i ever approached or asked if i needed help. Watched multiple people get asked if they needed help. Had a lot of money to spend furnishing my new home. Both times I browsed for 30 or so minutes. I was super excited about the couch too. The only redeeming fact to this store is the quality of the items sold there. The service leads so much to be desired. We recently built our dream house and used Pottery Barn for much of the new furnishings. The checkout process for ordering tales at least a half an hour. They seldom get the colors or orders correct. We have been back as many times for returns as we have for purchases. I would like to say that it is limited to just the Alder wood store, but our experience yesterday in the Pottery Barn kids at the U-district was as bad. They have lost part of our order. I got a catalog in the mail. It was a Wednesday, so I called the store to ask about items in the catalog. I had gone online to Pottery Barn.com to find the items and they were not on the website. Hence, why I needed to call. They were so short on help that Lady could not really help me and asked me could I just come in? I tried to explain to you that I had gone on the website and couldn't order what I wanted and she didn't seem to be able to help me because she was too busy on the phone other line and with customers. She definitely needed some help and it was not her fault. This company needs to hire more people for this location, or else put in your catalog only what you sell online so someone can buy it. The name of the catalog is garden party, and the items are on pages 10 and 11 all the faux ferns in pots ! Apparently not for sale on website ! Awful. The woman (short brunette) in the Lynnwood store was incredibly lacking in any knowledge about design or inventory. She had no clue about the items sold online or in the store; we had to tell her that a certain chair in the store wasn't the same as what we wanted online (one was a T cushion, the other was not) that she showed us in store (she insisted it was the same) and she stated that she was the " lead designer "! Uh, if that person is lead designer, then PB needs to re-educate their staff. I won't be going back to the Lynnwood store. I will purchase from another PB store or not buy from PB at all. read more

Poor customer service. Despite my clear interest in some furniture I was barely acknowledged and when I asked direct questions was answered with a one word reply. I was in the store for quite some time and there were at least four chubby white ladles working there (who I thought looked just like me) that ignored me as they must have thought I wasn't worth their time. Super disappointing experience buying curtain rods from Pottery Barn online and at the Alderwood Mall location. Misleading advertising on website, cheap hardware, unhelpful staff. Website photos show a double rod, but you are buying a single rod. Had to return huge order thanks to this misleading advertising, and then staff at Alderwood store were not helpful in addressing these issues. They also send you the world's weakest screws - do NOT use the included screws! Despite pre-drilling, using a manual screwdriver instead of a drill, and following directions perfectly, I had three (!) of these screws snap off while only halfway into the wall when I was installing into a stud. Had to go get stronger screws at Home Depot. read more

Hideous customer service. I waited at the checkout counter for several minutes while an employee chatted with her co-worker about what she did the weekend before. When I finally interrupted her and asked if she could help me, she rolled her eyes at me, as if DOING HER JOB was a huge inconvenience. When I asked if she would wrap the gift I was purchasing, something a sign immediately to her right said they would be happy to do, again she rolled her eyes. She half-assed the wrapping job, failed to remove the price tag from the wrapped item, and then left the bow untied, telling me that she assumed I would want to wrap it my own way. if I had wanted to wrap the thing myself, why would I have asked her to do it for me? Good grief, it's not like I asked her for a kidney. Will not shop here again. read more
