potosi brewing

We stopped here during our Great River Road adventure, and loved it! It's pet friendly patio, the chicken loaded nachos, potosi seltzers and IPA beer and museum tour were our favorites. We met a ton of great people who love dogs in their patio, so we were super happy with the ambiance !

One of my favorite places! The atmosphere is so cozy, beer is always delicious, and the food was incredible. I had the cod-the coleslaw was perfection. Such a gem in this small town. Worth the trip!

Great brewery with a lot of history in the middle of an unassuming city! The museum and cave was a pleasant surprise. The beer is really good with a lot of variety. I recommend getting a flight of 6 beers for $8. Great value! The cheese curds are in my top three for fried curds and I'm from Wisconsin. The beer bread is also worth getting. Nice patio and good atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about this place. Go check it out!

I had checked out the menu online and was hoping for a half salami & cheese sandwich with a cup of beer cheese soup. Strike one was that it turned out to be about 90 degrees that day. I still would have gone for the cheese soup, however we were traveling with our dog so we hung out in the beer garden and learned that you can't order off the restaurant menu outside. They did have a grill set up, offering chicken, burgers, sausages and pork chops. Eventually we ordered a pork chop sandwich topped with caramelized onions, which was much better than I expected, and a good value at $6 with a bag of chips. Even if we had been able to order off the restaurant menu, we learned that they recently took the salami sandwich off the menu. First I tried the Good Old Potosi brew. Not quite my thing. Next I ordered an IPA and it was a great beer, but when I ordered a second one later, Snake Hollow IPA, it was a totally different beer, so I'm not quite sure what the first beer was. Delicious mystery beer, for sure. The museum on site is worth the $5 price, especially since you get a free small beer with your admission. TONS of Wisconsin beer history, and then some.

The restoration of the building is beautiful with great stonework. We really enjoyed the museum. You can see things on the ground floor for free, and it is $5 for those twelve and over to tour the museum on the second and third floors - but that admission price gets you a 12 ounce beer or root beer. The root beer is delicious, by the way, and you can buy a growler of it. We had lunch, I had a burger, which was delicious and prepared perfectly, plus a lovely pretzel roll. I really enjoyed their ESB beer, which is apparently only available at the brew pub. Highly recommended for beer lovers.

Yummy pretzel

"A long time ago, in a brewery far far away they brewed an IPA ..." They brew a lot of other things too, all of which taste mighty fine. Belgian Trippel, IPA, and a Czech Pilsner. Mmm mmm. Potosi brewing is both a brewing museum that covers many of the breweries that made Wisconsin beer history as well as a nice restaurant. They make an especially good pretzel. We also enoyed a pulled pork quesadilla - sounds weird but it tasted good. Do you remember Rahrs?, Adler Brau? People's? You will after you visit here. And don't go away empty handed, they brewed more for you to take with you.

Beer was so-so. Food was just good. However, it had great history inside about the brewery!

I have been known to make the hour long drive for a couple beers here then head home. I think it is the setting of an old barn that makes it unique and a joy to sit, drink, and talk to the owners and patrons.

I can't rate that in Yelp but just know it was a great stay, we met so many cool people staying there too, and you should stay there if you come up to check out the barn. Onto the barn! This place has a rich history and I'm so impressed with the way they've maintained the original charm of the barn and grounds while also renovating with modern conveniences. There was a lot of time and effort put into this place! They have a substantial craft beer list, the top ones for me were the pina colada and the deeamsicle, but my friends had many others they enjoyed too. There are beers for sale to take home, and lots of merch and swag. They serve pizza if you want to nosh on something with your beer. We got a Reuben pizza to split and it was great! The owners and employees were caring, kind, and took time to explain the beers and make sure we were well taken care of. Our group couldn't say enough good things about this place!

The folks here are incredibly helpful and super knowledgeable about their products and similar spirits out there. There is no food, but I think there might be some snacks. The drinks are quite excellent. Check out their menu, but if you want something more standard, they can make that as well. The quality is very good, though the prices are slightly on the higher side especially for being in a pretty rural area. The distillery is beautiful, with super comfy plush chairs, games, TVs and everything you could want while you sip your tasty cocktail. They also have a nice gift shop for you to check out. But this time, we took home some of their Bourbon Apple Pie cocktail-to-go options for ourselves and friends. And... the BYOB - check the photo. We grabbed a couple of the premium bottles, and it was definitely a cool experience. We had a guide the entire time assisting with the labeling, where you put them, how to line them up, and how it's poured from the barrels. This was something I've never done before, and I appreciated the guidance and the fun time I had going through the process of a bottling experience. We need to make it back - this stuff is liquid gold, and it tastes even better than it reads. So dark on the pour... you know it has spent its time in the barrel getting all that flavor. I tasted it with friends and family, and it is beyond what I expected for the complex flavor profile and how it hits you at different times. Without water, with water, different amounts. It has been so fun unlocking the different tastes this bottle has to offer. We have all enjoyed every sip - I'm so glad we were around for this release!

We were able to choose our table, so that was cool. The atmosphere was quiet and gentle. The Food & Drink Menu was at the table. It stated to Please Make Your Choice And Order At The Bar. We walked to the bar. I started off with the Jubeck Blonde. It was a Crisp, medium-bodied, golden, mild, easy-drinking American cream ale. It was $6. From the Classic Pizzas section, we ordered a Small 9" * $10 Pepperoni. It had tomato sauce, mozzarella & parmesan. From the Specialty Pizzas section, we ordered a Small 9" Carbonara. It had Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, grilled chicken, bacon, roasted mushrooms. It was S-$15. We gave a card to open a tab. I took the Jubeck Blonde back to our table and gave it a try. It sure was crispy and a good drink to steadily sip. Speaking of crispy, the pizzas came out fast. I started with the Pepperoni. It was so good I could hardly stop. The amount of meat on the pizza sure was generous. Well, that one was going to be hard to beat, or so I thought. The Carbonara had such a precise flavor from the ingredients all masterfully blending together. I knocked out most of that pizza. Well, I got thirsty, so I went up to order the Mango Sour Guava. It was a Sour ale brewed w/ mango & guava. Fruity w/ tart & crisp finish. It was $6. I enjoyed it highly and it paired nicely with the pizzas. I went back up to order the Barnstormin' Ale. It was a Hazy American pale ale w/ citra hops. It was $6. I thought it was smooth, especially with the citra hops flavor. The drink disappeared pretty fast. The last one I went up to order was the Lavender Honey Wheat. It was an Herbal, medium-bodied, sweet, easy drinking, aroma rich. It was $6. This one definitely had a different taste than the others. I liked it in a quirky way and it was the best one to finish off my session. The service was prompt and friendly. We were shown around in the back to see how things were done and where the front used to be. That was a cool bonus! I didn't have any service issues. Overall, I had a great experience here. It's a bummer this place was in Iowa, because I would probably go often. Date of visit: 08/23/2024
