Very cheap Indian Take out. A large serving of rice, butter chicken and samosa only cost me $7. As per the name of the restaurant, there is a large selection of sweets to buy. I haven't tried them all but the ones I have are good.

I've been to Shahi Flames a few times now, and usually the restaurant itself isn't too busy, but they do a lot of take out orders. It's a pretty large restaurant, so it concerns me slightly at how quiet it is each time. However the food's been consistent here and I've never had issues with food quality at all. My go-to dishes here have been the lamb dishes. I've had their Lamb Curry, Lamb Tikka Masala, and Lamb Vindaloo. All excellent, and you can adjust the spice levels as needed (I usually go medium; spicy is REALLY spicy). If anything I wish the glasses (for filling in water) were a bit bigger, and the water was not so...lukewarm. That's about my only complaint though, everything else about this place I love. Service has always been good here. Will continue to return for sure.

I mixed the raita with the rice which cooled the flavor down a bit. I loved the big paneer chunks mixed in with the veggies in my rice. The pomegranate juice was okay, my friend's mango juice was sweeter and tastier though. My friend is from India and he said this restaurant has authentic Indian food. He completely approved his meal too, he had the Vegetarian Thali. He let me try some of the veggie purées and the rice pudding and both were super yummy. I'd love to come back and try more meals!

I've been wanting to try Famena's for the longest time since I started working downtown in October. Unfortunately the day I wanted to visit they were slapped with a health code violation and were shut down for almost 2 months. Famena's finally reopened in early December and I was able to grab lunch for takeout last Friday before the holidays. The number one item recommended by my coworkers was the ox tail, rice and peas. It used to only be available in selected days, but because of the pandemic the owners made it available everyday. The cost may seem a bit steep at $23, but it's worth it when you see the portion size. You'd have to be extremely hungry to finish the food off in one go...which I barely finished! The ox tail was extremely flavourful and juicy; I can definitely see where the hype is cause I've seriously never had food this filling and satisfying. Famena's is on Doordash during these tough times, but please, for the love of god, order from them directly. They deserve your support right now and are barely hanging on. I wanna try their roti next time, but moreover I really hope this place survives the pandemic cause I intend to be a regular here as much as I can and get to know the wonderful owners more.
