This time I booked the Thai restaurant upstairs for my dad's birthday. Walking in from the 32°c heat the air con was welcoming. On the tappenyaki floor were wooden elephants and beautiful natural wooden tables etc. Upstairs was beautifully decorated with Thai carvings, paintings and wicker fish traps! I was greeted by name and we had the whole place to ourselves. The menu was diverse with starters costing between £7 to £10 and mains about £15 . After being served cold lemon water by a lovely waiter we chose between us chilli squid, chicken satay and crying tiger (spicy steak) for starters. The steak was a bit overcooked for my preference but it was beautifully cut and seasoned so it still enjoyable although the side salad consisted of iceburg lettuce with no dressing etc. my dad's chicken satay was a lovely portion and looked tasty and my sisters squid was a nice size too. The coating didn't stick very well to it but still very tasty . For mains my partner chose pineapple rice with prawns, myself yellow curry with crispy sea bass, my sister the chicken green Thai curry and my father the jungle curry . Despite the heavy-handed turmeric in the rice this was the closest thing we've had to pineapple rice since our Thailand trip . Was really fresh and tasty . My yellow curry was divine with perfectly cooked sea bass. Both my dad and sisters meal also looked fabulous! At the end they had remembered my dads birthday and brought out a candlelit dessert. Overall a very welcoming service with beautiful food just subtle tweaks though to make it perfect. I will definitely return.

Out of the three Indian restaurants on Brook Street this one is the best with Chester tandoori a very close second. The environment is charming and discreet. In my point of view they overload the few staff they have. Maybe is because they are always so busy I was there during the races and it was so busy and the waitress was so helpful and dedicated that we actually forgot about how busy it was. I go there once and a while and I surely recommend. The effort of the staff to satisfy the customers even in an adversity that was beyond their power caused an impression on us. Well done! Food tastes great and isn't too pricey. Large menu choice from all different styles of Chinese cuisine. The food was all freshly cooked and tasted perfect. If anything the portion sizing was massive but who is complaining. Price wise I don't recall a single item on the menu above a tenner and my entire meal was about £15. The staff were lovely and efficient. Food took around 15 - 20 mins to be prepared and then I was ready to go. No wonder all the locals rave about this place.

Unfortunately this seems to be a trait of Indian style restaurants around Chester. I would recommend all of the owners to take a trip to Glasgow or Birmingham and get some tips from any Indian style restaurant in the cities. The service was terrible. Items put on the table that weren't ordered then put onto our bill. Rude waiting staff and trying to hurry us out once we were finishing up. The food and drinks were all overpriced for the standard that was delivered. I would steer clear of this establishment at least until they can learn to cook a curry and a naan.
