I had an experience recently where a hat I ordered online was shipped to me in an Express box, but…read morewith a Standard shipping label. The package was shipped Standard, NOT Express. They attempted to deliver to my house but didn't because there was "no secure location," so I went to the post office to pick it up. When I got there, they told me I had to pay $42 dollars for my package or they'd send it back to the shipper. I asked why and they said because "it's in the wrong box." I told them that the package shipped Standard speed and that's what I paid for. They didn't care. They held my property hostage for $42. I became irritated and asked them to "just give me my property." They refused. I called them "criminals" and they told me to call the Police if I felt that way. I did and when the police came, the postal workers asked them to have me issued a Criminal Tresspass Warning. If you use this office, be careful that they have a history of up-charging for services you didn't even use and if you protest, they'll say whatever they have to to police to make you out to be the bad guy.

I guess Granbury does not have the volume to warrant such a machine, or maybe they just want to preserve that small local "home town" feel. We had a delivery that took two weeks to get until I stopped the driver. She said oh yeah I have had that for a while and said sorry. Are they not allowed to stop and look? And why can't they put a package on the porch. Didn't have this problem at Indian Harbor just Comanche Cove. And they speed through here. Not stopping to check long at all. Very upset. Hopefully the Post Office will read this and not ignore this or I will complain yet again to the main office at the 800 number. Not impressed.

The person selling me stamps, and taking my letters, was very friendly and polite. Oh, and patient as my wife was having a hard time deciding on which stamps :-). So hopefully others won't be fully disillusioned, and postal workers can feel good about their jobs. I still think the USPS is one of the better deals out their. Bottom line, and disclaimer: My grandfather was a letter carrier. He delivered in Chicago, through rain, sleet, snow, fog, etc... So yeah, I have a soft spot.
