I have been coming here since August 2024. From the start, the staff was incredibly friendly and have had no issues helping me out, and have made an effort to even remember my face and some of the things I've been up to, which leads for great conversations! They know everything about everything and don't hesitate to answer any questions and offer recommendations or substitutes. I will say, they can be a bit pricey at times, but they're a family-owned business and offer discount cards and other discounts that make it worth it, especially if you go there often. Personally, I've already saved ~$40 alone just by using the discount cards, which can be shared between family and friends if you don't visit often enough. Aside from all of this, they also have a wide selection of pens, markers, paper and even some great variety of architecture supplies on the second floor. Something to note, they have a lovely little rabbit named "Shadow", and they offer discounts on his birthday! Overall, it's an amazing place with extraordinary staff, selection, and ambience. This is a fantastic FAMILY OWNED business with the best staff. They always help me find what I need and if they can't find it the order for me at a competitive price. They all know my name and check-in on my life which is very kind. The two sisters run the store with Jenny being to SM they are a great team. They are not always the cheapest it can be very hard to compete with Amazon and some of these giant retail stores. They do everything they can to be competitive. I personally don't mind spending a dollar or two more to shop local and support our community. This group of people deserve Tucson support. They have a wide range of products and everything a beginner artist might need and more advanced products. So, give this local gem your support! I couldn't think of a better business that deserves it. Lastly, I forgot to mention they have a loyalty card that allows you to get $10 off for every hundreds spent on next purchase. This program is great and helps offset the slightly higher prices you may find on a product or two due to big box attempting to gobble up our local gems. Go support them! read more

It was close to 5:00 on a Sunday afternoon (closing time), when I called Posner's Art Store looking for an item that was out of stock at a store across town. The clerk found the item and agreed to hold it for me as I raced against the clock to get across town. I arrived just after 5:00-the clerk had the item at the counter. She was very personable and said she was happy to wait--and was prepared to wait even longer. A very positive experience. read more

I realllllly want Posners to be better than it actually is. The staff has always been nothing but awesome and extremely helpful and friendly, which is kinda the only reason I keep going back. Their stock is really not that great. They don't carry many paint colors or brushes, and the displays they do have are very empty much of the time. I expect a local art store to have more unique paint colors and more specialty brushes (or even just standard brushes which they also have almost none of) than the chain store does, but it's just not happening at Posners no matter how many times I come back and check. It's a real bummer. They do carry a line of Princeton brushes that I like, but again, they were mostly out of stock. I managed to find one that I could use, though. And for a decent price, too. Much of their supplies are a bit overpriced, however. Especially the paint and medium. Which would be ok if they carried colors or brands that I can't get elsewhere. They do have an ok selection of pastels, pencils, and markers. Their canvas selection is decent, too, but priced on the higher end of what I would consider acceptable. Posners is not the best art store around, but their staff is the nicest. I'll keep popping in to see what they have in stock, and to buy stuff every so often. read more

I needed something small for a project I'm working on - not a lot of money to be spent. The young woman that manages Posner's could not have been more helpful. She actually listened to what I was asking for, looked at the project I was trying to duplicate and while she didn't have the stock paper I needed, she directed me to a different store where I might be able to find the paper. Again, she took the time, listened and helped me. I will definitely avoid the bigger craft/art stores, where the attitude are terrible and not helpful, and return here for everything I need. I can't give Posners enough stars. I have been shopping there since 2016 when my daughter started art school. I have spent a LOT of money at this store. I have been fortunate enough to have gotten to know the entire family well and love them all. Jenny would go out of her way to get you anything you need. I find the complaints from other reviewer hard to believe. I mean parking is not really within Posners purvue. And even if you have to park in the garage, it still is only a 5 minute walk. Posners Art Store has been around, so I hear, for forever. I've only recently started going - maybe 4 or 5 years ago - and I *do* love it. They carry a lot of supplies for artists - paint, pencils, paper, canvas', easels, and so on. They give the students at the local university a place to find what they need. They give me a feeling of being a "real" artist even though I just dabble. Plus, you get the satisfaction of knowing you're buying from a local place and not some chain store. Now, that said - I *do* buy a lot of supplies from a chain store. I can't help it. The price is just a lot better (almost always). And with Posner's new location right in the middle of congestion central (made doubly bad with current Trolley construction) it makes it a lot less "fun" to go shopping here. Then again, cruising the aisles of Posner's is just... fun. There are SO many choices and the staff is always super helpful and friendly. And the new store *does* look really nice, with the upstairs loft area and a few sitting couches. So Posner's - for doing what you do, I'd give you 5 stars. But since price IS a factor, I'm bumping you to 4. I will keep coming back because I love to support local business' and I love the vibe I get here. But as with any shopping, it pays to shop around for a deal. read more

Okay, I returned for a second visit. The lady who was working there was super super super super friendly and attentive to my needs. I asked her if I would receive a student discount since I'm attending an art school, she clarified that I would. It just so happened that the first visit was a mistake on another employee's part. I had to pick up some supplies for my basic design class and this store was nice enough to set up a deal for my teacher's class. They had an art kit specifically designed to the class and was discounted. I was helped immediately as soon as I walked through the door and everything went smooth. They even let me check the bag at checkout to make sure everything was in order. Great service and if parking wasn't so bad like t usually is in the university area, I would probably go there all the time for my art supplies. The supplies are high quality and have been easy to use in my class. The store inside looked of wide variety but I didn't get a chance to frolic through it's 2 story land of art which is highly disappointing but I highly recommend you try this place out for any art supplies you may need! read more

I had never been to this place before until I needed to get supplies for a couple art classes this semester. I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff. I had my lists with me as I didn't know what I needed to buy. I didn't get either of the name's of the employees there, unfortunately, but they helped me with everything. They grabbed everything I needed and even allowed me to choose between two or three different products, telling me their prices so I could choose. I liked how friendly and helpful they were. I wouldn't know what I was looking for it it weren't for them. I'm very pleased with the service and I will definitely be back there! read more

Is this place still in business? I can understand how UA art students, especially those without cars would like it for it's proximity. I on the other hand never had a good or worthwhile experience there. I think the only thing I ever bought from then was conte crayons. They don't offer a student discount, but a punch card...(Correction: I've read in other reviews that they do offer a discount. But this is hearsay.) The whole store is sorta archaic in it's business practices. I think the last time I was there even with their help I got the wrong item and had to return it. ( They did take it back, which I guess is a plus.) Go to Sarnoff if you can, it's worth it. read more
