Visited the Poseidon SPA for the first time for a little R&R so close to home in St. Augustine and so beautiful. It is attached to the historic Casa Monica Resort & Spa, the Kessler Collection hotels, and the level of professionalism and skill at this spa is outstanding. From the friendly greeting upon arrival, to the well appointed sitting rooms and luxurious robes, this place exceeds expectations at every turn. I had the Poseidon signature massage and opted for the scalp and face massage. My massage therapist Tiki was awesome, and after she talked me through the services I'd signed up for, she also paid special attention to the problem areas I had mentioned. After I was completely relaxed from my massage. With multipurpose rooms for facials, body treatments, and massages, the Poseidon Spa also offers couples room and several pedicure and manicure stations. Hair and make-up stations are available to serve bridal parties and guests attending formal events. There's also a beautiful retail boutique. Very much Meh. The greeting we received was very unenthusiastic from the lady that checked us in, almost disinterested I would say. This was made up for by our estheticians they were great as well as the ladies that checked us out, wonderful. Pricing was about 30% inflated which is standard for a hotel spa, but still. I never love automatic 20% gratuity and would have tipped more given the choice. Overall unimpressed with the initial impression and price to quality ratio. read more

Positives: -Friendly service -Clean facilities -Nice pool area (even with screaming kids doing what kids do in pools) -Yummy food available at pool area So-so: -The treatment, itself I went for a Detox & Renew in March 2024 and asked if the pressure could be more firm. I was told that I could book a deep tissue massage since this treatment was more for the skin than the muscles. The massage therapist was polite enough but I've never been told to book another treatment when asked for more firmness in a massage. When the massage part of this treatment came, her pressure literally felt like someone just putting lotion on me. This made the treatment disappointing and left me wanting more--I was massaging myself at the pool, post-treatment. I did the scalp treatment add-on and luckily, she did apply more pressure here to my scalp but it was almost too little, too late since my arms and legs just felt like they had lotion applied to and not actually massaged. I normally always tip 20% but for this treatment, if given a choice, I would not have. Unfortunately for my experience, the tip is a fixed 18/20%. I also wish there was a place to have left a review or comment in-person instead of online. Maybe there was a comment box at the spa but I missed it. My friends also got the Detox & Renew the same day as me and we all had vastly different experiences amongst our massage therapists. Unsure if I would go back based on my experience but my friends who had different therapists all enjoyed for the most part. I did not have them but my friends said Tiki and Ren were good. read more

Worst spa experience I have ever had. I had to sit in the body scrub for the whole experience. They did not make me wash it off. They applied the face mask on top of my makeup. It felt so itchy and disgusting and gross. They kept giving me dirty towels. I was so disgusted I could not wait to leave. Then on top of the service being bad they tried up the pricing to "weekend prices" and then also charged a $59 "service fee". I told them how bad this experience was and they didn't seem to care at all. Overpriced, poor value. read more

Getting a massage during COVID is a different experience for sure but one I have gotten used to. You can only get here 5 minutes before your appointment and you wait in the area with all of your street clothes on! No robes, no slippers, so that part of the relaxation experience is missing but I respect it! Once in the room, you go straight to the table and after the massage, put your street clothes on without leaving the room....oily skin and all! I do respect it though as showering with others close by in the area doesn't seem safe. So, if you want to feel comfortable and safe and need a massage, this is a good place to go! I asked for a 60 min deep tissue massage and Sam went above and beyond in understanding areas that needed work and truly did an amazing job. She stretched me while massaging and could tell I needed it! She is a true professional with a really good understanding of what she was doing. I will return and recommend this place during the pandemic and after the pandemic is over! (I would be remiss if I didn't leave a comment about the friendliness of the receptionist also. This place is perfect for a day of relaxation and pampering yourself! I came in on a Saturday evening for a Signature Pedicure, nothing fancy...I'm a simple gal. I was welcomed by 2 lovely ladies and given a short form to fill out and offered many additions to my service, they provide a menu of things you may not know you can get! I was directed to the waiting room, a dim sitting area with herbal tea and infused water offerings. (I noticed someone staying at the hotel brought her glass of wine from next door and they even got her a refill before her massage!) The room is decorated in cool blue tones with an almost beach-y feel. There are plugs if you need to charge up, abut 5 chairs and just enough lighting to help you relax. I was also offered a warm neck wrap and am beginning to regret not purchasing one for home. The ladies asked if I needed anything a few times and were very accommodating to everyone I saw come in while I was there. Great staff with awesome customer service skills! I got the best pedicure ever! No 'cheese graters' or rough pumice stones, just a real pedicure. It was extremely relaxing and days later my feet feel soft and refreshed!! I had Nancy (Naja) as my pedicurist and she's a ton of fun - admittedly, we know each other and had plenty to talk about. I trusted her to pick my color and she went with the deepest forest green I've ever seen - it's almost black. This is an on-trend color pick for fall so she definitely knows what she's doing and keeps up with what is in fashion. Of course, there are massaging chairs, bubbles in the water and - if you'd like - another amazing neck wrap (win!). It's an intimate room so you don't feel like you're in a nail barn with 40 other sheep, it's a simple, clean space with enough room for 2 pedicures at a time (and 2 manicures at the nearby stations). The spa is connected to the Casa Monica hotel, so if you are staying in St. Aug for a refreshing weekend, this is a great way to spend some of your time - maybe after walking the shops for a day or two. The prices are a bit high, but again, this is a resort affiliated spa - you are paying for the comfort and ease of walking a few feet with a glass of wine and getting an amazing service. Don't let the prices scare you, we all deserve a treat and need to take care of ourselves better! read more

I booked a regular manicure and gel pedicure. Arrived 15 minutes early as requested. Was not offered a robe or slippers. Given a cheap glass of champagne. The water to soak my hands was ice cold. The manicurist's hair kept getting caught in the polish. The polish was old and thick and bottles were dirty. They wanted to remove my gel polish by asking me to dip my entire foot it a bowl of acetone. I left after 1 1/2 hours with no polish on my hands and my feet white and swollen. I reported to the hotel manager the incident. She said she had many complaints that day and the manager of the spa would call me. Still waiting.....No call. Don't go. Spa prices and amateur service. read more

I am addicted! The moment I arrived I was treated like a VIP. A professional and warm greeting by Staci was only the start of an amazing experience. Another greeting by my massage therapist Joe (a repeat performance upon my request). I spent 90 minutes in heaven with arguably one of the best massages I have ever had - and I have had many. My girlfriend and I were visiting from the NY/NJ area and we're looking for a nice relaxing spa to spend a few hours lounging and pampering. Never never go here! The masseuses were unprofessional banging the massage table, coughing and sneezing during our treatments and the deep tissue massage could have been performed on a newborn baby. The lounge was pitiful and barely any where to sit. The prices were ridiculous for the level of service. I'd give it a zero instead of a 1 Star if I could. read more

This past experience has sealed the deal for me - I made surprise appointments for my husband and I - when we showed up, they had lost my reservation. Very disappointed to say the least. I loved the hotel and the service. It was a perfect location for my wedding night and getting ready with my bridesmaid. The spa was my only disappointment. I trusted the hotel to find someone to do my formal hair and makeup for my wedding. The makeup was wonderful, but my hair was terrible and I had to return to my room to redo it myself. I paid over $200 for this service and it included a 20% tip that I had no control over. It was my only regret of the whole day. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was disappointed. Overall the spa is very small--one shower and one toilet per men/women locker rooms. The "relaxation room" is so close to the main entrance that you hear every phone call and every group of folks walking in talking loudly. My 80min facial and mani/pedi services were just fine. The nail care area is also right by the entrance so just a lot of noise when you might want things to be fairly quiet and calm. Too expensive for what is offered. It was my first time in St Augustine. Booked a short get away for my daughter and myself. If you want the experience we had, you're better off booking at Massage Envy and saving a lot of $$$. What they offer?... Four treatment rooms, a "locker room" entirely too small for more than two people, NO sauna, NO steam room, NO soaking pools... NO extra anything. Very few services are actually offered, just "add ons". You have your treatments and just leave. NOT A HIGH END SPA. Actual services were just average. The whole experience was like ordering an expensive filet mignon and getting served a quarter pounder w/ cheese. It was tacky all around. All art work on the walls was available for purchase...priced right next to paintings. Two massage beds in a treatment room for a single massage...not a couples massage. When you drop over $400 per person (over $800 total for two people) and you're back in your hotel room 2 1/2 hours later to shower because the have only one shower in a cramped locker room. We went for a couples' massage as a wedding gift and it was just perfect. The atmosphere was elegant and peaceful. We were each ushered into our respective locker rooms where we could put away our belongings, my purse , jewelry, etc. we were given luxurious robes and slippers. We waited in the lounge and helped ourselves to some orange-infused water. We were then taken to the couples' massage room. I had "Nester" and he was wonderful. I was asked whether I wanted a relation, deep tissue or combination of both type of massage. I opted for the combination with an add-on of the hot stones. Nester was great!!! He really put pressure on all the sore spots I had in my neck and shoulders. He definitely helped me relax my muscles. After the massage, as expected, we were given a glass of water. We were then offered to use all of the amenities of the locker rooms and even to use the pool in the adjoining posh hotel. Had I known this ahead of time I would have brought my bathing suit. I'm all ready to get married tomorrow morning! I also loved the spa shop. They have makeup and OPI nail polish. read more

Oh dear. This was a disaster. I think it was just my masseuse as other people and even my husband had good experiences. First of all, this spa is ridiculously over priced, and it was easily the worst massage of my life. My masseuse tried to get me to lay flat on my back for the massage. I am 33 weeks pregnant. Anyone who knows anything about pregnant women knows this is a big no-no as it can cut off air and blood supply to the heart. My masseuse just didn't seem like he had any professional training at all. It felt like a pedestrian off the street was giving me a massage. His hands were sweaty and I was incredibly uncomfortable. Absolutely nothing about it felt professional, and the high price on top of that meant I left feeling frustrated and incredibly disappointed. But first, a word: know what you're getting yourself into ahead of time, and you will enjoy yourself. Let's face it, I can't swing $122 for a mani/pedi on a weekly basis, but Rioshy put my at-home manicurist to shame. It's a spa, and a hell of a spa at that. Small, yet tastefully appointed. I chose the seasonal upgrades, where the aesthetician rubs oils on you with quartz stones and you smell slightly better. I'm not sure I knew what the upgrade meant, and she gave a much better massage without the stones than with them, so I think I'd rather have skipped. I'm not really a believer in the healing power of rubbing pretty stones on your skin, but I will say other than just being in a luxurious spa, she had incredible attention to detail, and my nails have never looked this nice in my life. They'll be back to rubbish after playing with my toddler in the dirt once we're home, but for 2 more days, I don't have tomboy Mom hands, and that's pretty special. She had her work cut out for her, and was very talented in her work. Rioshy gets 5 stars, hands down. I gave 4 stars because the snobbish receptionist didn't offer me tea but offered it to everyone else, and didn't help me with any of the products in the store that I was interested in taking home with me.
