The room we stayed in (Room 2) was clean, spacious and quiet, despite the fact that Mardi Gras weekend was happening outside our window. The shared space, patio and garden, just invite you to relax. The breakfast part of the B & B is delicious, and to order. There is no 'inside' parking, but street parking is reasonably available, and a paid parking lot within a couple of 100 feet. Oh, and without any connection to this review, the proprietor, Alfonso, just knocked on our door, and asked if we would like to try his lasagne. We said no, thank you, as we'd just eaten. We booked Casa Al Mar in a "Suite Al Patio Doble" room for four nights on our most recent visit to…read moreLa Paz. Prior to our arrival, we accepted the hotel's offer to pick us up at the airport. The cost was 380 pesos. The hotel manager, (yes the manager), ALEXIA, arrived on time and was professional and friendly. We arrived at the hotel in the evening, and our room was ready. This boutique hotel's location on the Malecon is perfect. In addition, the hotel's entrance is really nice with a boho chic vibe. Our room, Unit 1, was about 900 square feet with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, dining room, and kitchen. This room did not have a view of the ocean (we booked late in the game). Upon first entering the room, it looked really nice; also decorated in a boho chic vibe. There are a lot of steps inside this room. For example, the living area is sunken from the entrance and the kitchen is sunken from the living room. The same thing occurs upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom. People with mobility issues or children might want to consider other hotel options. Regarding the condition of the unit, it was good. The kitchen was fully outfitted for cooking, and the appliances were in new condition. We did have an issue with the safe, as it was not secured to the wall. It appeared it had been pulled away from the wall for some reason because the holes in the wall were visible. We reported the issue, and they secured the safe the following day. We also had an issue with hot water in the shower and sink. It was somewhat hit or miss; not a huge issue for us. WIFI in the room interacting with the smart TV was troublesome at times. There is no pool at this hotel. In room massage services are available for $90 per hour. Regarding the service, it was fantastic (FIVE STARS). In addition to picking us up at the airport, ALEXIA helped arrange excursions including a beach tour and sand boarding adventure for a really great price. In addition to ALEXIA, all of the staff members were friendly and professional including FRIEDA, CONCEPCION, and PRICILLA. Overall, we had a great experience at Casa Al Mar with only a coupe of minor room issues; one of which we reported, and they handled it right away. Booking in advance for a balcony room with an ocean view is recommended.

Priscila gave us a few pointers when it came to our scuba lessons, and Frida greeted us so warmly each time we came and went! We stayed in #7, middle upstairs balcony facing the Malecón. If you're a light sleeper I suggest somewhere off the main drag since sleep will be hard to come by, earplugs were provided and used! They are very generous and helpful. My daughter loved the pool and the rooms were very acceptable. Our pooch got along great with their two delightful dogs. They do allow smoking outside, but it wasn't too intruding. There's plenty of places to eat in walking distance. The neighborhood was a little too quiet for being out after dark, but didn't prove a problem for us (but we do have a 90lb dog with us). It's a short walk down to the Melecon. We had another bad experience at a hotel here and they bailed us out with the secure parking lot they have around the corner and a recommendation for the doggie hotel down the block, since we needed to take a day trip to Tijuana/SD for visas and medication- long story there.

They have apartments available as well as regular rooms. A private parking lot for your rental car and a nice small pool on site to soak in while you stare up at the towering bamboo that offers shade by the side of the pool. Great breakfasts with strong coffee and the hosts/owners are super friendly and will help you with whatever you need. I would strongly recommend this property to anyone looking to just relax and not have the hustle-bustle and commercialism that so often comes with some tourist destinations. We stayed in one of the apartments with a King bed, television, fridge/stove, all the amenities a traveling family or couple would need to enjoy some home made meals if they want. The bed was comfy and the slight breeze coming through the patio doors at night was heavenly. We really, REALLY enjoyed Casa Juarez. if we ever go back to LaPaz I will be staying here again. They made us feel like family.

He knows much about the ecology and natural habitat. They provide snorkel gear and fins. You can rent a wet suit at an additional cost, which is well worth it when the weather is cooler. The boat ride is comfortable, and a delicious lunch of cerviche or sandwich is provided along with beverages. We saw many species of birds, dolphins, and sea lions. This is a great tour and well worth it.
