Absolutely appalling service.
To cut a long story short, my 17year old daughter was misold the wrong charger twice for her lap top. She returned several times for a replacement and was palmed off with various excuses, a pretence to fix it then stories about no replacements in stock.
She returned to shop 3 times to find still not in stock. A refund was then refused when requested on account of not being authorised to give one and at that point I became involved. The staff I spoke to were evasive, antagonistic, patronising, sexist and down right rude. I went into the shop at a time when I was informed manager would be there for me to speak to but the man serving me, after several polite requests refused to let me speak to the manager, tell me if the manager was in the shop or tell me when the manager would be in. ( according to the customer behind me however he was the manager). Having been told that only the manager could authorize refunds I asked the man serving me, insisting that he could deal with it, that if I had to go into detail again about everything was he authorized to issue a refund. He refused to answer and it became obvious a refund was not going to happen. At that point I decided I was getting no where that I should leave the shop and contact trading standards. However the man 'serving' me then refused to hand over the purchased charger and receipt that I had taken in for a refund, that he had moved to behind the counter. I asked him to hand it back to me several times and he refused to answer or do as requested. The situation became very irrate and was most upsetting. Eventually after a phone call and advice from my solicitor whilst standing in the shop it transpired that the two initial chargers sold to my daughter(total £50, the first one she was told she hadnt kept the lead straight and damaged it!!!!) were the wrong ones, despite the fact she had taken her lap top in with her each time.
It took us 6 weeks after the second purchase to get to this point and although eventually I was able to leave the shop with what for the time being appears to be a working correct charger that was only after lots of inconvieniance and distress on her part and mine and, it appears, a purchase of said second charger that wasnt necessary as the first one sold was not damaged by her but was the wrong one for her lap top.
I am nearly 40 years of age and can honestly say in all my time I have never encountered such appalling dishonest customer service, to the point where I did begin to wonder if it was some kind of practicle joke a la Jeremy Beadle!
I never write reviews for anything but am so incensed by mine and my daughters experience with Portswood Computers and I felt compelled to write one. I run my own business and I know if I treated my customers the way Portswood Computers treat theirs, I wouldnt have one. How they are still going is a mystery to me. Hope you can benefit from my nasty experience and STAY AWAY. They are money grabbing dishonest conmen with no values or regard for their customers whatsoever. read more
