I found very nice shirts on sale for myself and son. They feel nice to wear and look good.read more

I learned about Cariloha recently during my trip to the Caribbean. Apparently, it's a popular brand…read morehere. I can see why - the fabrics for all apparel and bed linens are made from bamboo viscose, rayon from bamboo, polyester from bamboo, and bamboo charcoal. It's a proprietary bamboo blend textile that is so soft to the touch, smooth, and keeps you cool (which is great in the Caribbean heat). It's also sustainable design. I went to a Cariloha store for the first time in Old San Juan. I didn't plan on it, but my husband and I stumbled upon the store on Calle Fortaleza. It's a small, boutique size shop. Merchandise was well displayed and orderly. Apparel is everywhere, but linens and other products are on shelves on the right wall. The staff inside the store were super friendly. One guy - I think his name was Haviah - was nice and offered to keep our selections at the register counter while we kept looking around the store. Again, they were so friendly and provided great customer service. Price wise, it's more than your usual cotton material clothing, but the product quality and unique qualities of the bamboo blend textiles warrant it. Also, we didn't spend as much because men's shirts were 50% off, which was about $40 each (a little under the price of the same type of short sleeve, button-down at, say, a Marshall's or Kohl's). If you are traveling to the Caribbean, it may be worth picking up a shirt or something from Cariloha as a memento or something to remind you of your trip.

Very pleasant shopping experience…read more The store is well organized and not too overstocked. Very easy to shop with good varieties to chose from. I forgot a few things while I was on my vacation so I came here. Check-out was friendly and efficient. Next time I travel here, I may not pack as much. I'll just shop here and get a few items. They offer a lot more clothes catering to a tropical, warmer climate. Prices were identical to prices back home at the Marshalls in Virginia where shop from time to time.

Like all retail stores in the area, it is housed within historic buildings, renovated on the inside to meet modern standards. It is large, with 3 distinct stories. It had large sections of clearanced items, and a huge section of discounted luggage. This made that section very popular with cruise ship workers, who were picking up bags to prepare to go back home. My brother ended up picking up a chew toy for his dog and a couple of generic gourmet food items. The queue is the same as in the states: one long line until you get to the end, and then called to a particular cashier for checkout. I really like this system, though the Marshall's voice ("Cashier Number Six, Please") wasn't present here. That would have been awesome if the same voice, but spoken in Spanish.
