    Salmon Bruschetta was on point.
    Tanya T.

Great location right by the water. Great view of the harbour bridge, friendly staff although i waited a while for my order but it was worth it (for me anyway) I ordered a Salmon Bruschetta and i loved it (though it was windy and my salad was flying off the plate) Am i coming back? You bet!

Red Queens? Don't mind if I do!

Oh the choices, I can't decide if I should give this place 3 stars or 4. I've changed the stars so much that I've given myself whiplash. Either way, this little place by the water will give you grand views of the harbour bridge and the Opera House if you can get a seat that isn't blocked by umbrellas, heaters or other paraphernalia. We dropped in here on our way to see The Magical Flute at the Opera House because, well. We were starving. They have some interesting looking cocktails on the menu and we went for the Red Queens - strawberries and something alcoholic which I can't recall the name of at the moment. Either way, it came out in a very hipster glass jar with a paper straw that disintegrated before I'd finished my drink. Thankfully they thought to put in a plastic straw too that didn't melt away into the ice! The pasta was, well, interesting. I got the prawns in penne and it definitely hit the hunger spot, I'm not sure it hit the taste buds though. I guess for me, I don't eat pasta that often so when I do I expect a bit more of a "wow" factor than I got from this place. Either way though, good drinks and good view. 2 out of 3 ain't that bad right?

Capuchino and snail roll, umm good

Excellent breakfast food. Excellent view inches from the harbour in an open air cafe with plenty of umbrellas. The staff is very courteous, i arrived 30 minutes before they opened and they accommodated me graciously.

A little more downmarket than the Oyster Bar next door, Portobello shares the same drop dead amazing views of the harbour. I've had some good salads here in the past, although the other day I just stopped in for a coffee and to revel in the pleasure of sitting somewhere so beautiful on a sunny morning. An added pleasure was the giggles I got from overhearing the American tourists at the next table. (Said with impressive seriousness) 'I wanna go for a really great scrub.' Cue 15 minute conversation on salt scrubs and Korean beauty spas delivered in tones more appropriate for an action movie sequence of defusing an imminent nuclear bomb. Hilarious. The woman working behind the counter came out and chased away some seagulls with a broom. I then noticed the sign: 'Please be aware. Birds will try to take your food from your plate.' I think it's an ongoing frustration. The coffee was good and you can spot the jellyfish floating by in the water and smile at the tourists in the jetboat about to get drenched. While the coffee was a bit pricey, the view was for free...

A wonderful place for a drink or two. Sitting by the water, looking out at the Opera House and the Bridge is truly wonderful.

Great location, decent service, and not too expensive compared with other touristy places nearby.

My friends took me here on my last day in Sydney, and it was the perfect farewell brunch!…read more There was a festive menu at the time that we dined, and it was great! 3 courses for $40AUD (or 2 courses for $35AUD), you know I had to get the 3 courses! For Starters, I got the Ora King Smoked Salmon Pate. For my Mains, I got Primavera Ravioli. For dessert, I got the Jamie's Black Forest Panna Cotta. Everything was soooo good! The ambiance was chic & cute, and the server was great! I honestly felt like I was back in the US for some reason!

My second and most recent visit helped extinguish that memory. Our waitress was very lively and sweet. She gave us plenty of time to look over our menus and made solid recommendations. I ordered the Spaghetti Alla Norma and it was pretty tasty. I also sampled some of the polenta chips which were surprisingly good. We opted to get dessert elsewhere but overall the food was pretty good. I'd like this place more if the prices were a little lower and they had more basic pastas available. I'm not a fan of seafood or mushrooms and can't handle spicy so I felt a little limited...although the pumpkin ravioli was tempting. Next time!

Fratelli Parlamento…read more What's available? Antipasto. Pasta. Pizza. Salads. Wine. Wine. Wine. Desserts. No specials. Great CBD location. On Macquarie Street next door to the Land & Environment Court and across the road from the NSW Parliament. When you get to the Macquarie Street entrance walk down the stairs. You will be greeted by a friendly maître d and a similar layout to its Italian brother on Bridge Street. There is a bar and restaurant (Café Sopra) which offers delicious meals made with fresh ingredients. No fresh produce available at this Fratelli's. The restaurant was buzzing with suits. Which was to be expected due to its central business location! Loved the green chesterfield style seating and dim lighting. The service was great with our waiter being very attentive even with the a full restaurant. Could not fault our visit. Will be coming back here again and again.

To start we got the zucchini fritters, burrata, and the cold meats plate. All very tasty. Then for mains i got the pork sausage pizza - i thought it was ok, hardly much pork on the pizza. I got to sample a few other pastas such as the lamb raguy and the polenta with mushrooms and gorgonzola - the polenta was very good! Lots of sauce and went really well with the polenta. For wine we tried the fratelli fresh pino grigio and it had more of a sharp after taste. Overall, I thought the food was good, I enjoyed all the entree's and the other mains except mine.
