So when I saw that there was a location coming soon to a shopping center near my house, I was really excited. Unfortunately, like most construction projects, it seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to finally open. Shortly after it did, I made sure to stop in. If there is a business that has more different types of kolaches, I haven't been to it. There are probably 20 different types. And they also have a decent selection of donuts too. For kolaches, we ordered a sausage and cheese, butter chicken, mac-n-cheese, sausage and gravy, pepperoni pizza and brisket. I enjoyed all of them, but would not need to order the mac-n-cheese again, only because you pretty much couldn't even taste the mac. The donuts are like pretty much all other Texas donuts: Shipley's style. They do have cronuts too, which are always a hit. My one complaint is that the kolache case wraps around the space (it's shaped like a 7). A couple other families walked in after us, so there were just people everywhere and it was kind of hectic, especially given the setup. People are just yelling out what they want to various employees while crossing back and forth on the sides of the casing, with almost no rhyme or reason to the order of things. It makes it a little bit of a stressful experience, especially since there are so many options. But we will definitely be back here next time we are craving kolaches. And we really appreciated the woman who hooked us up with some awesome donut holes since I had my son with us. I almost ordered those anyway!
