Date of visit: 8/14/2012…read more Scenario: Our regular dentist while in the middle of working on my daughter's back lower molar, sheared the tooth off under the gum line. They wanted to continue to work on it and create a crown... okay even with insurance that's about $800. Since my daughter's teeth are too big for her mouth, and her wisdom tooth was coming in, I decided to have the tooth pulled and asked them for a referral. When we walked inside, it looked like we stepped back in time to the 70s... you know Back to the Future. But don't let the looks of this place fool you!! These people are really good. So we are there for the initial consult, and I asked the dentist (Female Indian Girl... yes she was HOT!!! and I was having problems concentrating on the topic at hand...LOL) about having the tooth pulled today. She said if I wanted general anesthesia for the tooth it would take about 2 - 4 weeks to set up the apt. I told her a local would be fine (what the heck, it's not my mouth...LOL. okay just kidding, they also offered Nitrous Oxide, ya know, Laughing Gas). In under 10 min, my daughter's offending tooth was a part of history. Prices: Reg Dentist: Visit: $0 (no copay) Crown/Root Canal: $800 Total $800 (still needs teeth pulled to make room for straightening, cosmetic cost not covered) Specialist Oral Surgeon: Copay to pull tooth $10 Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): $125.00 Total $135.00 (extra space, free of charge) So back to stepping back into the 70's. This oral surgeon's office has not gone digital... X-rays are paper copy faxed, real X-rays films, light boards, & not a single computer to type notes on.

I would highly recommend finding a different oral surgeon. I scheduled an appointment to get my…read moreteeth extracted in August. They gave me the run around for about two months before I finally decided to go elsewhere. I was calling them every week for updates and they basically gave me nothing. I was told they'd call me to finally set up the surgery (this was in October two months later) the receptionist never called.

I want to share my frustrating experience with Columbia Oral and Facial Surgery Center. While the…read moredoctors are good, my experience with the office has been disappointing. I'm okay with paying in advance and understand that initial estimates may be off, but I'm now owed over $1,700--a sum I've been waiting on for months. I can appreciate that estimates might not always be accurate, but this delay has gone on for too long. Initially, the office informed me that they were waiting for my insurance claim to process. After several months without updates, I reached out to my insurance company, only to find out they approved and issued payment back in July, just a few days after my son's surgery. My insurance confirmed my out-of-pocket responsibility and provided an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to support this. After my insurance company intervened and conducted an investigation, they acknowledged our overpayment, but getting the refund back has turned into a frustrating, never-ending battle. Despite acknowledging the amount owed, the office continues to delay my refund, offering little clarity on the situation. When I contacted the front desk, I learned that checks are handled by their Human Resources department, which only adds to the confusion. My wife and I have been patiently waiting and have called several times just to find out the status of our refund, but the receptionist often doesn't answer when she recognizes our number. We even visited the office in person, only to be told to wait another 2-3 weeks for HR to process the refund. Now, after patiently waiting another 3 weeks, we are still left in the dark. Yesterday, I called the office again and was met with surprise at my inquiry. The front desk claimed I should receive my check this week but couldn't provide any information about when the check was issued, sent, or anything related to my refund. When I asked for the name of the HR contact responsible for processing the refund, I received a name but no clear answers. I requested a callback with an update, and the receptionist assured me I would hear back. Yet here I am, still waiting. I tried calling again for an update, but no one is answering or returning my voicemail messages. This has been a frustrating experience, and I hope to find a resolution soon. Came here last week to get my wisdom teeth removed. I'm a little late at 30 years old to have them…read moreextracted but I've never had any problems or pains with my wisdom teeth so I've never thought about taking them out until I started feeling some irritation behind one of my bottom molars and noticed a wisdom tooth that had emerged. The staff were extremely friendly and were very welcoming. Dr. Wu himself was very honest, knowledgeable and informative on what needed to be done, what the process was going to be like, post-operation procedures and generally just made me feel more comfortable about the whole thing because let's be honest, everyone feels nervous about getting their wisdom teeth removed because of all the horror stories. The whole operation itself felt super quick and easy. I mean I was knocked out the whole time because of the sedation but the whole thing felt like it took 15-20 minutes. And the good thing afterwards? I felt no pain at all. Throughout the next few days of recovery I was in no pain whatsoever. The only negative effect was the obvious swelling and soft diet you'll have to be on for a couple of days. If you need a good oral surgeon I would definitely recommend Dr. Wu!

At first, I was skeptical about the fact the everything in the office looked old: the chairs in the waiting area, the office equipment, the oral Surgeon. But Dr. John Mitchelling was amazing! He was thorough with explaining how the extraction would go and what to expect. He and the office staff made me free comfortable during my surgery and at the follow up appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchelling!

I opted…read morefor IV sedation and was seen at a surgical center across from Kenilworth Mall in Towson. While I have no complaints about the actual removal, I ended up having a severe adverse reaction to the anesthetic they gave me. I went home feeling fine but over the course of the day my body felt awful and was kind of stiff feeling. The next morning I woke up and could barely move anything below the neck. I had to have my mother & my daughter pull me by my arms into a sitting position and then off the bed where I was bent over and I hobbled to the bathroom. I had to hold onto the door handle on the inside of the bathroom to help me off the toilet. It got way worse as the day progressed. Eventually I said there was no way anyone was going to wake up to help me do anything throughout the night. So we had to call an ambulance. I was diagnosed with rigidity due to the anesthetic and a genetic neuromuscular disease I have, CMT. I was warned to never undergo general sedation ever again. This is something the anesthesiologist should have known about and made changes to my care while I was under their care. I don't know if the anesthesiologist is someone who solely works for Dr Mitcherling or if she works for the surgical center. I had the rest of my teeth pulled with just local anesthetic and was fine.
