The manager at the time told me that if I would have had them install it from the start I wouldn't have to pay half the labor. Do you suppose they could have checked with Honda about the right kit and refunded me for the wrong one. Instead it was on me - at least for half. Those marinas are like casino's. They make money whatever.

If you love to fish, you are right on Chequamegon Bay, one of the top rated Smallmouth Bass fisheries in the United States. This area is much safer than other areas to boat in because of the Apostle Islands and Chequamegon Bay (sheltered from the main lake).

Upon entering, if you keep following the road to the right, it goes into a big parking lot. There's a short 5-minute hike to an overlook of the causeway & Pellet Island. There's also a loading/dock area and other parking area. We also drove down to the pier and wanted to get as close to Pellet Island as possible, but there's a sign stating that only specific cars are permitted to go past that point. I didn't want to drive past the entrance point and get into trouble, so we just stayed at the gate and took pictures from afar. It would be awesome to get up close and personal, but I didn't want to take any risks. There's also a picnic area by the entrance and looks pretty kid-friendly. It's open to the public so would definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking to browse or want a super short hike.

There are also kayaking spots/tours that you can book right next to the resort and a distillery within walking distance. It is a little outside of Bayfield so be prepared to drive into town.

I would have loved to have had more time to visit the shops in the area which seemed nice. NOTE: There is NO parking so you really need to arrive early to get a parking spot somewhere. Most places have a 2 hour limit so we had to park several blocks away. The office doesn't have a bathroom so you need to walk to a brick building down the street where there are only 2 stalls. The boat does have a bathroom on board which is helpful, and snacks like candy and bottled water, etc to purchase.

We didn't have a relationship with the marina yet so I figured we would get bumped. Nope, they were on it. I felt like I was working with a caring doctor when talking to Jeff about the boat. I felt like he really cared for the boat and wanted us to enjoy it for many years. It's often hard to find good service where we store and use the boat - I felt really confident that when we put it in the lake, it would work and I wouldn't have to make another phone call to have someone come out and look at it or pull it out of the lake again. I would have given 5 stars, but I left several vmails that were never returned - I guess I'm getting used to that and just called back later.

We spent a few minutes walking on the beach at the far side of the marina, and returned to our cars. On my Son's car, a threatening note had been placed under the windshield wiper, noting in profane terms that if we returned we would be physically harmed. We got in our cars and left the area, and on attempting to exit the marina, a crowd of 15 locals first blocked and then surrounded my Son's car and demanded that he and my Daughter (a minor) exit the car so they could be physically harmed. I immediately stopped my vehicle and found several of the individuals leaning forward over the hood of my Son's car, hands on the hood, screaming at him and my daughter. My daughter then called the police as she felt her life was threatened, and I and my wife asked the individuals to step away as we were attempting to exit the marina. We were also screamed at by the locals, and two of the individuals actually put their hands on my chest and pushed me in an attempt to start a physical confrontation. I was then informed by the locals that the Marina Boss was present, and he was also taking part in this illegal harassment. He did not ask the threatening individuals to stand down, he instead asked us to leave. He did not apologize or attempt to help us leave the marina, he supported the lawbreakers and stood by as they continued to make terroristic threats. They informed me that this was all because our passing by had caused dust to settle on their boats, and they were angry about this. My Son backed his car away from the people leaning on his hood, and was finally able to leave the marina with my daughter. My wife and I soon followed once our children were safe. We provided the threatening note to the local Sheriff, and he agreed that the individuals in the marina had broken the law and that he would take care of matters. I would highly recommend avoiding this marina at all costs, the locals appear to hate any outsider and are willing to make both written and verbal physical threats, assault people, and are willing to detain people illegally as well. It is unsafe and very dangerous, and the Marina Boss obviously condones this behavior. Do not patronize any business associated with this marina in the interests of your own safety.
