Komoka Provincial Park is an excellent place to spend a day taking a hike!…read more There's a few things worth noting if you're going to head here for the first time: - It's not very accessible via city bus, so it is best to carpool - Don't rely on your smartphone to give you accurate directions to the entrance. My group had a few people end up near Sifton Bog rather than Komoka thanks to plugging the park's address into their maps app. Instead, just find the park on GoogleMaps and drop a pin, or just look for the sign off Oxford St. or Gideon Dr. - The older map of the park trails you'll find online on the Middlesex County website and that is sometimes distributed around town (the map without any satellite image shown under the trail lines) is outdated from what I could tell. It states that dogs are only allowed on certain trails, but this rule isn't listed elsewhere and when we arrived at the White trailhead (where the old map said "walking only", so we assumed dogs were not allowed. It says 'leashed pets' for the other 3 trails), there were no posted restrictions and lots of people walking dogs. - The trails are not super challenging, but there are parts with large tree roots, rocks, and somewhat steep inclines. - The trails are marked with blazes or small arrows. There are portions where it is possible to get lost. It is important to stay aware and remember when you've taken a turn, etc. - The park has no staffing or facilities, so be prepared to take out what you bring in. People had left piles of dog poop bags and empty cups, etc. at the entrance, which is gross. Please carry your trash out! The trails are mostly shady and through heavy forest, which makes this a pleasant place to walk on a hot day. There are portions through open field though, so don't neglect sunscreen!

Parking is simply and easy with a QR code to scan and pick your times and boom! Done!! More places should have this parking system. There is plenty of parking as well as a nice little change hut with outdoor shower that works well to clear the sand of you before changing. Lake Erie has some of my all-time fave beaches ever, with awesome warm clean water, sandbars that move around for excitement and well, those waves just speak for themselves. The beach front is large, there's a nice large restroom area, a covered sitting area with benches, plenty of picnic tables, drink vending machines, a little book library and more. Just like most beaches on Lake Huron there were lots of rocks on the shore and rocks a few feet into the water. Past the rocks the water was clear and there was soft sand. One of the things I liked best about this beach was there wasn't a current like there is closer to the bridge. My friend and I were able to float without being carried away. I also like that there were trees on the beach for some shade. If you are in this area, I highly suggest this beach. It's best to get there early before it gets busy.

The view is spectacular, even on an overcast day. It is relaxing to sit in the sand and just soak up the sun. With Beach Ten being probably the nicest beach, it does get a lot of use out of it as well. There is enough space to stretch out, but do be mindful of the other people that may be there. Pros: Ample parking Picnic tables for use Lifeguard on duty most times Shower/changing amenities Cons: None There is a concession stand area if you find you want a snack while you are here. But you have to be mindful. The concession stand is not always open. There are eleven beaches I believe and each beach has this area available. They do kind of a rolling rotation of which stand(s) are open on what day. If the concession stand is not open a note will be posted to inform you what stand is open if you feel the need to get a snack. This area also offers vending options as well as a telephone to call for emergencies. A place to rinse off your feet after being in the sand. The restrooms are located here as well.

Not only was it a no, it was a very rude no from Sharon (one of the owners). A week later my friend, who does not have a trailer, says I called and we can join but we have to use your trailer. He had spoken to a manager (not an owner). WTF?

It is very bike-friendly, but don't forget to check the hours for bike rentals if that's what you plan on doing. There is a tram/shuttle that takes you to the very tip from the visitor's center but the path is bikeable/walkable as well. Parking is adequate and there are a number of well marked trails and boardwalks here to explore. One full day was all I needed here.

There's a bathroom that only kind of smells. Close by is the lighthouse. It has a small museum. This area would seem to attract many tourists. It however doesn't seem that crowded. Most people are on the beach but but that many though. It seems cleaner than many beaches. The sand doesn't have a lot of cigarette butts and litter. It's kept clean pretty good. The water is kind of murky but it's apparently safe. Along with the beach is the park. There's some great views. It seems like a safe area. There's usually someone on patrol. It has a public bathroom. It doesn't reek of piss. They charge for parking but you can park for free on a side street.
