We left the dock promptly at the agreed upon time and had lines in the water within 5 minutes. First cast of the day on a topwater jig produced a beautiful snook (my first ever) and Capt Geoff couldn't have been more excited for me. We fished multiple styles throughout the day and it yielded awesome results for us. Snook, Trout, Jacks, and one monster Red Fish. My only regret is not booking a full day with Geoff as I could have used a few more hours on the water. We fished 90% of the 6 hour trip with very quick boat rides between spots- optimizing our actual "fishing" time. Capt Geoff is the REAL deal and knows how to put his clients on fish. Regardless of your skill level, Geoff will take the time to make sure you are comfortable and confident enough to catch fish. Thanks again, Capt for a very memorable day on the water down here. They take you out pretty deep and you try a few different spots and everyone catches some fish (mostly just lane snapper, though a few people caught one or two others, like a mackerel--there was also plenty of grouper but too small for us to keep so we had to throw them back). That was great since the first time I went fishing in Costa Rica, we didn't catch anything. They told us that if you do the 3/4 day or full day trip, you can go out even deeper and catch a wider variety of fish, which we'll have to try next time. One guide was super helpful and attentive; the captain less so. I wish they came around more to help out beginners like us but overall still a great time. They do take quite a few people out during COVID (we had 11 people on our boat) so there's that to consider if that's an issue for you. Otherwise, they're great fun and teach you how to fish - and they clean/gut it at the end for you so you can cook at home or bring to the restaurant on the harbor where they will also cook for you (though the local restaurant - the Dock at Crayton Cove right at the end of the harbor - charges a hefty $25 to do so).

The captain and first mate were excellent, efficient and led us right to a few good fishing holes that has reeling up a variety of fish. We caught 5 groupers that were keepers as well as a bunch of snapper, puffer fish and even a shark! My boys loved it. The boat is perfect with an inside cabin to get out of the sun/heat. This is probably not Captain Pat's typical charter, but he adapted to the situation very well. (He has children of his own and understands that sometimes they listen differently to strangers / teachers than to parents.) The Gulf was rough that day, but he picked several spots in the backwaters. Our son (8) learned a lot. Our daughter (6) loved catching fish, too. A few notes. While the boat is not large, he is an excellent captain --handling any waves and wakes that we encountered along the way smoothly and gracefully. Very smoothly. He was on time, polite, professional, and flexible. Anytime that the kids needed another shrimp or another casting lesson, he was on it.

There's street parking available, just drive around, there is a paid lot as well. Meter parking per hour. Beach wasn't busy, we just walked to the water and played with the waves for half an hour. Perfect day for the beach too. The pier was under construction when I was there, no restaurants nearby either.

The beach, however, was happenin', with lots of people lazing on the beach or in the beautiful water. Despite the amount of people there, we were able to find sea shells, and because of the time of day, there weren't a ton of gulls. The beach stretches out for quite a bit in both directions from the pier, but we went to the right of it to get the best shots of the sunset. Parking here is metered with one of those pay machines where you put in your space number and how long you will be there. It is reasonably priced, and there were a lot of parking spaces. I believe you can park on the bordering streets if the lots are full. Honestly, I didn't even now we were going to visit here, but I'm glad we did!
