What an amazing cruise destination! Oh, and I'm not just saying that because it's in France which happens to be my favorite country to visit. It's the ease of getting to Vieux Port and the walkability factor of the city that makes this an excellent destination choice.
It's a tender port. These are the ship's modern day lifeboats that are also used to tender passengers back & forth to shore. We actually boarded a ferry that appeared to be contracted to receive passengers. Everything was so organized and timely in getting everyone ashore. You're dropped off at a small security checkpoint that is very efficient in moving everyone along. There are port authority & ship crew personnel directing you to your tour excursion bus, or straight to the pedestrian walkway that leads you into this beautiful city. The Joséphine Baker jetty and its public beach on Quai Laubeuf welcome you with open arms. As you cross over the Blvd Jean Hibert, you'll see directional signs of many well-known attractions within Cannes. Amazing! Honestly, an excursion isn't needed if you just want to explore Cannes on your own. It's super easy to do that.
Our bus excursion returned at the debarkation time. The lines weren't long getting on the tender, but they do fill every seat. It was a tighter squeeze than the ferry, and a choppier ride on the way back. The views were better on the ferry. It was still a cool experience being on a tender boat for the first time. Overall, it was a great experience. I loved it! read more
