Southside Polish Fest - I guess when you run out of ice cream, you turn to beer.

Maybe…read morethey couldn't find suitable grounds to set up the fest, but such a small fest seemed to be too pricey...even before you had a chance to spend money on food. The food seemed to be limited to a handful of popular Polish dishes. The entertainment was rather flat. The Perla tall boy beers tasted like a Miller or Bud. Overall, I expected more Polish cultural influence, rather it felt like a normal Chicago neighborhood fest with just a plethora of deep fried pierogi stands.

This is now the Pierogi Fest now and not the Southside Polish Fest…read more Well all I can say, as a first generation Polish American, is that I was highly disappointed with this fest. I came here with my girlfriend expecting a Polish surrounding and there was none. So let's review a few things here. 1st - There were no Polish people here like I was expecting. This was a very Americanized fest. I came here for culture. Chicago has the 2nd most population of Polish immigrants well over a million and all I heard was English spoken. 2nd - The food here was actually not bad, but not a lot of vendors. I had the Polish plate from Alex Deli and Grill. The sausage, pierogi, potato pancakes, and stuffed cabbage were amazing!!! 3rd - I was always an Okocim beer drinker, but they were not there. The only Polish beer there was Perli. And I was actually impressed! I bought a 4 pack of it on my way back home. I heard the Taste of Polonia at the Copernicus Center in Chicago is a lot better and Polish Authentic. I will definitely be there in September.

PGN Fun Village - We had a room party here!

This place is iffy for me. I grew up going here and my last time there was at least 14 years ago…read more.. today I took my 3 year old and we had FUN! It was 3-6:30 on a 94 degree Saturday in the summer. Overall, I would take him back, but idk what it would bring. The golf course was OKAY- it's super basic. PROS- the spot to hit from is just the green so it's easy to his from, there's garbage cans throughout, the setup going over bridges and the water is cute, greens seem decently maintained CONS- some of the holes seem like maybe they aren't level with the ground, the water STINKS like dead animal, and it's kind of dirty (balls not picked up at about 2 holes, broken pavers on a few holes, it cost $27??? For my 3 year old and myself for one round), some of the starting points are inclined so balls may roll until stabilized He did enjoy the tunnels and said the slides were fast, but only lasted like 45 minutes in the play area because he wanted to play games. PROS- 3 story with several ways up (ladder, padded bumps, climb stairs), appeared updated, $12 for ages 2-12? And you supposedly get 2 hours , less than 10 kids were there, no one seems to be monitoring time there CONS- hot as hell in there, no one monitoring for simple cleanliness (for example one family kept taking party hats from party rooms and leaving them all over the floor and tunnels), We did the games, obviously. We were able to pay with credit card for for $2 fee and received 90 coins for $22. PROS- cool that it's coins and legit tickets, you cash the tickets in for "dollars", for $22 my son earned 375 tickets which offered a fee wall prizes , CONS- like 25% of the games were marked out of order, this area was still warm but not as hot as the play area

Don't waste your time or money it's a NO for me Dawg!!! stay at home and Netflix & Chill.read more

    Chicago Fire

As has been well-documented, Chicago Fire FC started hot out the gate and have since flamed out…read more The team began MLS play in 1998 and won both the MLS Cup and US Open Cup in its very first season, a really impressive accomplishment. The Fire went on to have success in the early to mid 2000s, winning the Supporters' Shield in 2003 (best regular season record) and three more US Open Cups in 2000, 2003, and 2006. They also returned to the MLS Cup Finals in 2000 and 2003. After 2006, Chicago would advance to the MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals three years in a row from 2007 to 2009. However, since '09, the team has been mostly absent from the MLS postseason. When they've qualified for the playoffs, they've been swiftly eliminated in the East Knockout Round (2012, 2017). On the bright side, Chicago is top 10 in the league in total points, all time. So, I guess you could say in totality, the Fire have done OK from 1998 to date. Roughly half the active teams in the league do not have an MLS Cup championship. Aside from Chicago, only two other MLS teams have accomplished a Double in the US, winning both the MLS Cup and US Open Cup in the same season. Those teams are two of MLS' best, DC United and the LA Galaxy. Elite company. Speaking of the Galaxy, their 1996 MLS College Draft pick, Ante Razov, would go on to have a stellar career in Chicago. Razov, who played collegiately at UCLA, was selected with the 27th overall pick (3rd round). Razov was a member of the Fire's Cup-winning teams in the late 90s and early 2000s. Today, he remains the Fire's all-time leading scorer and was inducted into the franchise's "Ring of Fire" in 2015. The Ring of Fire is essentially the club's hall of fame. Another notable player for the Fire during the same time period is Razov's fellow Ring of Fire inductee, Piotr Nowak. While Razov had the goals, Nowak was the team MVP for three out of the team's first four seasons. Nowak was Chicago's team captain and leader. He's widely regarded as the best player in Fire history and set a standard which the franchise has struggled to uphold. Hopefully, the club will get back there sooner rather than later.

Could have been so much better. The Chicago Fire who are surely going to be changing their team name at some point is a team that has been around for a long time and vomit... I mean one which... I used to support and root for back in the days of Bob Bradley and Damarcus Beasley. Both of them went on to have a long and illustrious careers - especially Bradley - but the team remains, and it had such big names as Blanco, Ante Razov at the peak of his powers, and so on since then. They've underachieved but I'm still a fan and hoping that they will become one of the dominant teams like they should be sooner or later. I won't give them the extra star until they get their sh*t together. We were sad to see that the Fire has moved out of SeatGeek Stadium which is a pretty nice Stadium out in the suburbs of Chicago, but I have the same problem as everyone else which is that it isn't in the center of Chicago and which is that people can't get to it very easily from all the many far-flung parts of Chicago. Especially from all the bougie suburbs. They would obviously need to put the stadium in a more fancy area or close to downtown where the other stadiums are. Northside perhaps. If they can do that then they can probably start getting their attendances back up again. Now this stadium will be very lonely without its main occupant of 12 years.

Great customer service and I get the feeling she loves what she does. She did not try to sell me anything or offer anything I couldn't afford. This woman is a God fearing woman with compassion and takes her faith seriously. (I'm Catholic and understand things like this are generally frowned upon in the religion, however, my belief is that God gives people gifts and they have to be shared with others!) She points to faith during her readings, yet is not a "Bible thumper" (for lack of better words) Onto the good stuff, my reading. This is where I knock off a star. I blame this on the fact I did the reading over the phone and not in person. (When I do see her in person, I plan to add to my review) I believe she was not able to completely read my energy, and vice versa, because I could not see her to feel her presence. I'm very spiritual and in tuned with my ability to read people so this is imperative to me, but over the phone, she was still able to tell me specifics that I had not hinted to or led her to with answers to close ended questions. Having seen a few different psychics, I felt she was right on par. She wasn't able to connect with my spirit guides, at least, to my knowledge, which I was hoping for, but she did do a tarot card reading and a phenomenal job at that. My session lasted about 45 minutes and was about the time expected for the price I paid. I will definitely be going to visit her again, but next time will be in person.
