This thing does not exist anymore, don't bother going, you'll just find a barren lot between two shops

Who doesn't love a little weekend outing in sun city. 2 hours away from LA, down the 111 and you've enter the land of sun, palm trees, windmills and mid century modern. A quick weekend getaway with friends, a group of a love one. This place has it all. It's all about poolside, cocktails and more poolside. I don't mind coming all year as I love the weather. Regardless if it's 115 during the summer. That's what the pool and cocktails are for. There's so many hotels option to choose from. Places ranges from boutique style hotels, the major chains, budget friendly and Airbnb. Whatever is your price range, there's something for everyone. Loads of hiking available but I do recommend early in the morning as it can get hot. But during the winter, you should be ok anytime of day. Also, have you been to Palm Springs if you've never been in the tram up to the top of the mountains. That's something you should experience at least once. With views of the valley, there's hiking, dining or just a few hours there. Also, Modernism Week is happening soon which is a big deal for the city. Homes, events, galleries all participating during the once a year event. There different event throughout the year. Film festivals is also a big deal yearly. Then you have pride which usually happens around November. A weekend of fun and everyone celebrating love. Cant leave out Coachella and Stage Coach. It's not exactly in Palm Springs but neighboring city's. Regardless when you go, there's alway something. Poolside during the day, dinner in the evening and then bar hopping. Whatever's your preference, you do you. Can't leave out all the bachelorette's party happening pretty much every weekend. This is an easy quick trip that's everyone love.

I stumbled upon it due to purchasing tickets for a recent show that took place in their Disney hall room on the property. Reading up on the smoke tree ranch it's a property that has housed some legendary stars and celebrities over the years. The property consists of homes and a hotel with cottages that span the desert landscape. It appears this property is used to host private events and weddings overall. I didn't stay at the hotel/cottages but it looked very cute and off the grid in the sense that you just come to have some relaxation, hike, and to utilize their different sports facilities on site. The Disney hall was a small little venue but perfect for the event I came for. I liked that they had staff service with some small bites presented and they opened up a bar area in the lounge. Very cute area for hosting small gathering or talks. I really enjoyed this property and will keep my eyes open to see what other events may be held here in the future as the vibes were good and it was a very private, intimate setting.

The air vent in our room clicked every 20-30 minutes waking us up. Even though we were onsite for a wedding, we went and grabbed takeout for several meals because the location was not willing to accommodate dietary needs or meals for kids. Every request was made with a "there is a Ralph's down the street." !! The wedding was held outside in the heat, and it seems wild to me that coordinators wouldn't have recommended a different location on the property, moved tables to the shade, procured umbrellas, etc. I have to imagine their staff was warm as well. Overall, this is not somewhere I would return, and not what I would expect at this price point.

The rooms are simple and clean,…read moreand the "margarita welcome" is a stroke of genius--nothing says "welcome home" quite like a hit of tequila-infused hospitality to kick off the weekend. My only critique this year is the pool soundtrack. It was less "Palm Springs party" and more "Existential Crisis in a Yoga Studio." When the DJ arrived, I thought, "Rad, here we go," but the vibe never actually shifted. Look, I love house music, but these tracks were so obscure and ethereal I felt like I was waiting for a spiritual awakening that never arrived. Example, we stayed during week 2 of Coachella season, thursday night, yet not a single artist from the lineup made the cut--a huge miss for the energy we were expecting! Pro tip: Bring a pool floatie! Because of the legendary deep end (which is actually the middle), the shallow areas can look like a crowded penguin colony. If you don't want to tread water for forty minutes like you're in Navy SEAL training, bring something inflatable so you can actually use the middle of the pool without the workout.

We addressed it with the hotel and they refunded our resort fee, and we were initially willing to move on. However, about an hour later, the same thing happened again. This time it was explained as a mistake while trying to deliver coffee to another room. Even so, there is no excuse for opening a guest's door. The correct procedure is to knock, wait for a response, and if there is no answer, leave. Guests should always be the ones to open the door. At that point, this was no longer a one-time mistake but a clear issue with procedure and training. It made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. We will not be coming back.

The rooms are centered around the common area and pool. Fresh flowers and herbs litter the grounds. Rooms are just steps to the pool. breakfast was continental in nature and most enjoyed their food in the common area, as it feels like an oasis. Parking was right outside the building. There was a code for the door to the courtyard and a regular house key-type key for the room itself. The bed and linens were incredibly comfy and clean. However, the room was not as clean. The top of the shower was pretty dirty and there are calcium deposits on the shower heads. Additionally, the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors convos in and outside of their rooms. This is not a place to find privacy as all of the lower level rooms are mostly on display from the common areas. There are definitely maintenance issues to be addressed, such as: peeling ceiling paint in the restroom, no working bathroom fan, and a lack of any windows (other than the door) in the room. Couldn't get the overhead light to work so we relied on the lamps in the room. The mini fridge was a pretty decent size and we were actually able to stock a lot into it. There is a grill available for use and a small common kitchen area where you can help yourself to use of a microwave, tea kettle, dishes, and an ice machine. They even had tea bags available. All in all a quiets stay other than the loud landscaping the first morning of our two-night stay. Most other guest were respectful and quiet. Not many guest during the weekdays but it started to fill up by the weekend. Overall a lovely place to stay. I think it would be a wonderful place to host a smaller family reunion as the space lends to feeling like family with the other guests.
