Everything was great! You wouldn't think so by the outside appearance but give it a chance!! You won't be sorry!

So I tried the Pop's in Chandler, (twice) and will probably never go again. I don't know what makes the locations different, but this location in Flint is way better than Chandler. It's still not great food, but it was good food that was hot and served with a smile. The secret is, don't order off the buffet. Order off the menu. I tried the meat and cheese tacos tonight and they were surprisingly good. They came with a nice spicy salsa and were made to order, so they were fresh and tasty. For a burger/chicken place, this caught me completely off guard, but I would eat them again and that says a lot. Also good were the French fries (ask for salt, there is none on the fries) and the gravy. I'm pleasantly surprised and will probably return to this location for nights when I need a quick dinner that is affordable. Service was fantastic btw. Always a plus! read more

I live near by and often order take out, as we do not care much and have given up cooking at home. The variety of foods on the menu is large and we don't get tired of eating here. The staff are polite and efficient, so most nights I get home with what I ordered. read more

Terrible.... I was skeptical once I walked in and saw the sides all looked super bland and watery so didn't even give any a try. Ordered a chicken finger basket for the wife and 5 chicken strips for myself. Figured a place named honey fried chicken it'd be hard to mess up some simple chicken strips. Greasy, no flavor and also dry at the same time. Fries were completely limp and undercooked with absolutely no seasoning as well. Pretty sad the only editable thing was their pre made biscuit/rolls that came with the meal... $21 thrown away, I'll definitely never be back. Don't waste your money here! read more

I purchased a chicken breast meal, the breast was like chicken jerky. The hamburger i purchased was a small patty that was.lost in the bun. One of the worst burgers I have ever eaten. This place has gone downhill. read more

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love pops. It is one of the best things that have ever happened to me and I love just about everything on the menu. Pop's is no longer Pops. Under newer ownership the quality has tragically declined. Tonight was my second trip there in a month and my second utter disappointment. The quality of the food is absolute bottom tier... hardly edible. I will not return. read more

My husband and I love to go to Pops Chicken. We especially love the fried chicken strips and the fried catfish. The prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. read more

This place is horrible. From the lack luster employee to the flavorless food. I got the smothered pork chops and the only taste I had was burnt. The breading fell off and I see why. When I was about to leave eave the "cook" came in with a pitcher of a "water gravy" and poured the entire thing into the osn with the chops. Greens beans tasted like the can was opened, dumped in pan, heated and then served. No salt or pepper. And I would have preferred to go to the Dollar store and buy the individual Kraft Mac & Cheese instead of their watered down version. Best thing about my meal was the rolls they bought from a store. Will never, ever go here again. read more

Some of the reviews had me worried to stop by this place But when I walked through the door and saw a full restaurant of customers I knew it had to be good. Prices were great and food was even better. read more

If you're looking for cheap food and quantity this place will definitely fit the bill. You will get lots and lots of food for cheap. The flavor on the other hand is ehhh in my book. It just seems that there wasn't much seasoning on anything. My kids burger was ok but again the meat tasted like it was taken out of the package and thrown on the grill. Where's the flavor?!?! Where's our famous Texas seasoning? I have to say I left full but my mouth was not satisfied. Catfish needs some kind of seasoning not just bread crumbs. I really wanted to like this place but it desperately needs seasoning! read more

Definitely not a fan, and will not return. Sides are bland and nothing to write home about. Chicken strips were ok. Not impressed.

So let me just tell you how underwhelmed I was with food selection in this area. Then I find this place on google and do a drive-by. The parking lot was PACKED. Of course I had to stop in for lunch - it seemed like the most legit lunch place in town. You can run down the bar area and select a plate from what is available or order from the menu. I was in a hurry so I did the two fried catfish pieces, pea salad and fried okra. Then asked for some banana pudding. I was then told I could choose a bread side - cornbread of course!! The gal offered me a side of tarter sauce and a drink. I got a MOUNTAIN of food for $10. This place was packed with folks so I knew the food had to be decent. Catfish can be real hit or miss. This catfish was perfectly flaky and crispy without the "dirty fish taste." The pea salad was bomb, right amount of sauce holding it together. My okra was not fresh - it was a bit soft and chewy. I want to know where on this planet I can buy a gallon of the target sauce - it had a slight tent to it like they added some spices. Definitely not your average tarter sauce, they put some effort into it. Cornbread was slightly sweaty and juicy corn bits instead. Top this off with some banana pudding and roll me out like a hot potato! Restrooms are a huge deal for me. This place has an immaculate bathroom. A little hole in the wall place would give the impression the bathroom might not be the cleanest, but it was surprisingly clean. Gives me faith they take the same care and effort into the rest of the place. read more

The food was trash. Do not go here. I had more flavor in my water than anything on my plate. Seems like they used straight flour and water as their frying batter. The rolls were pretty decent but that's all this place is good for. If you're looking for a good hole in the wall this is not it sis. Gene Keels should be rolling in his grave. I'm 10/10 would not recommend. read more

Ate there for the first time on Saturday while house hunting. Moving to Flint in June and will be eating here a lot! Great country cooking! read more

You won't find more delicious fried chicken anywhere. If you ever try their fried Catfish you will go back for more. They have a food bar that is eye appealing and everything is delicious. The staff are pleasant, fast and courteous. The dining area is clean, well appointed and cool in the summer. And when in a hurry they have a convenient drive through. read more

Purchased supper to go. The chicken was good, the mashed potatoes were fake and nasty, the green beans were mushy with no flavor.

50/50 if you'll get sick from this place. Good burritos and burgers too but, it really is dirty.

There's not a lot of options when it comes to eateries while visiting the area but this place does the trick. The fried chicken, strips and catfish were great. The sides made me think of a homemade meal and the tea was just what you need to wash it all down. Coming back to enjoy the lake this summer and we will definitely be stopping at Pop's. read more

Not a fancy place but Great fried chicken, delicious sides, friendly staff. I will recommend.

This is the place were seasoning goes to die it's no existant. First time I ordered a 12piece and 2 sides there wasn't a speck of salt or pepper, it was just bland and over cooked it was all hard an dried out. The mashed potatoes were grey it was like it was just stirred it up. There was no mashing involved and a ton of pepper an no salt and the same way with the gravy. The macaroni was like the off brand of the Kraft mac with the powder cheese pack. It was awful, with overcooked mushy noodles and no salt. The next time I went I ordered burgers thinking surely they can at least cook a burger, lol nope. They order pre patty meat the problem with that is there's not enough fat percentage. So it makes it hard tough and gives it a unpleasant texture. I mean how hard is it to patty up meat as u go, it takes what all of 3mins to do. I'm pretty sure the only reason for the business you do get is out of convince not for taste. Then the stuff on their line read more

Excellent service, large portions and very good food (except for the hot wings, which should be avoided. They are nasty!) The burgers are excellent! The chicken fried steak is perfect and the gravy is excellent! That is my usual order. Very over-priced for the chicken, but tastes good. The food is kept fresh and nearly everything is delicious. Again, avoid the hot wings. They are horrible! Our first time there, my wife ordered them and when she opened the big food box, it looked like 5 little pigeon legs and the sauce was really, really bad. I enjoyed my meal, though. It was chicken fried steak. We've been back several times and tried different things, all of which have been fresh & delicious. Way better than DQ for sure. read more

Horrible food. Bland. Cold. Trash. And they didn't give us our full order of 8 pieces of chicken. How hard is it to count to 8? Then when I called and spoke to the manager he argued with me saying they gave us 8 pieces of chicken! Why would I waste my time or breath calling you if you gave me my full order? The manager didn't offer to fix the problem. I would never go there. EVER. read more

After a week at the lake, this has been the worst meal we have had. Two separate families vacationing together. I had ordered 3 pieces of dark meat to be told they only had legs. So I decided to hold off and get something later. When our friends sat down, he had done the same thing. We were griping about not being able to get a thigh at a chicken joint, and decided to go back and complain. After complaining and much hesitation on their part we were told it would be about 15-20 minutes. So we ordered some. I could understand if it was right before closing, but we were there about 5:45. Everyone else in our group was getting their food by now. The chicken breasts that i and one of the kids ordered looked like they were left over from lunch. The driest chicken I have ever seen. Not one person in our group of ten was happy with their meal, and would never recommend this place to anyone. I gave them a one star rating only because there were no negative stars. read more
