A carfax shows two accidents, one of which Joe denies as a mistake and says it never happened. In addition to the accidents the truck has an open recall for a front seat air bag. Joe at Pop's garage has always given me fair, honest pricing with excellent service. My car was done the same day, both times I brought it in. Once was for oil change, fixing an oil leak in a head gadget and a couple other little things. The second time it was an alignment and transmission flush. It was reasonably priced. He told me my tires were dry rotted, but admitted I could probably find a better deal on tires elsewhere. I have used him in the past, too. My car doesn't act up in a similar way as it had before when I get it back from Joe. read more

Will never go here again - worst experience ever. Joe needs to let someone else take over business or close it. He wont have any customers the way he treats them. Work took too long, poor followup by him, very rude, yelled at me, and is disrespectful to females. Car issue not even fixed properly. Got my car and was dirty too with used tissues in it and grease. I wanted to wait a few days to reflect on what honestly occurred. The positive: Joe and his crew rebuilt the front end of my 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and properly aligned my tires . This was a big job and they did a terrific job for which I am grateful . To back up a bit , My car had stalled out heading to Joe's shop for the scheduled appointment so I had it towed and Joe said he'd get it started first . He called and explained that they replaced the distributor cap and coil to get it started . Then he gave me the bad news about the front end needing a rebuild which didn't surprise me . As mentioned above it was an A+ job well done! He also located a AC leak which I brought to his attention and that was fixed perfectly as well. When Joe called he explained all the work was done and that he test drove the car and it ran very well. Upon picking up the car Joe was very pleasant. We had a nice conversation and I told him I was glad to find a garage like his that serviced old cars. He also said everything is under warranty and to let him know if there are any problems. We parted on friendly terms. I proceeded to drive home and long story short the car was not driving very smoothly. It felt as if it was going to stall out at a stop light and then upon the light turning green and me giving it some gas there was a hesitation which also felt like the car would stall. I immediately turned around after getting some gas and calmly approach Joe about the problem and he was visibly upset. Stormed out of the shop with me and took a test drive. Joe angrily and disrespectfully drove the car at high rates of speed . He declared there's nothing wrong with the car when in fact there was. We drove back to the shop and he explained " if you want to leave it I'll take a look at it tomorrow. I haven't got time now ". I could tell he was pissed, and I even brought that to his attention in which he denied it. But I think after spending over $4000 and me being a new customer to boot that he could've been more caring about me stalling out on the way home and took a look at it no matter how busy he was. I wouldn't have minded waiting for the car just for peace of mind driving the car home . I did make it home safely with one stall out at a stop light .It's too bad that this ruined my experience at Pops garage and left me feeling unappreciated as a new customer read more

Do yourself a favor: go to expert car care a couple doors down. It'll save you money and headache. Absolutely horrible customer service. A few years ago, Joe used to be an awesome mechanic with a great garage. Over the last few years, this entire shop along with Joe, has gone downhill. The labor and pricing is an absolute scam compared to all other shops nearby in the area. Joe himself gives horrible service and will jerk you around saying oh I can get it done bring it in, only for you to bring it in and him say it has to sit and wait for days bc his electronics guy is actually booked up and can't get around to diagnosing it for a couple of days, even though you called before dropping it off, stating it was an electronics issue, bc you're in a time crunch, and he reassured you he had time and it would be done quickly. I would've just taken it to another shop at that point and I wish I did in general. Joe then called to tell me hey the car is ready for pick up, there was a wiring shortage. I didn't and still don't, know what the actual shortage is, where it was, what caused it, etc.,. I was never called to say "hey, we found the issue, it's gonna cost this much, do we have the green light?" Instead he just did whatever his heart desired and didn't even have the courtesy to explain it to me despite me asking multiple questions. His responses can only be explained by: 1) He knows f*ck all nothing about electronics and didn't want look stupid but wouldn't just say hey my guy specialises in that, I don't actually know super well but we can call him or you can talk to him tomorrow when he's back. 2) He knew exactly what was wrong and he was just being a complete d!ck and didn't want to explain it despite me (and then my dad also when he wouldn't answer) insisting and asking for explanations Or 3) he's a fucking scammed. The solution was actually extremely simple but it took him too long to figure it out and he doesn't want to explain that his stupidity caused the labour to be higher in this job and he didn't want to take the L and also eat some of the costs for his own errors. No matter what option it is, all can come to the conclusion that Joe is just a d!ck and you should go anywhere but here. When I asked him over the phone okay how much is it? The answer I was given was "oh not to bad, we're just charging for labour but we're tryna leave early today so we need you to pick it up quickly," keep in mind he gave me no notice that the car was even being fixed let alone ready for pick up. Just cold called me at 3 pm and insisted I pick it up within the next hour. Then we showed up, only for him to slide me a bill for over $500 for the "couple hours of labor." There's a shop literally 400 feet further down that charges $150 for labor an hour but 1) Joe doesn't display his labor cost anywhere and didn't quote me anything whatsoever and 2) he also lied and said he could get it done quicker so the cost would've been worth the time but he was booked and couldn't actually look at it for days. I would love to know what he would've done if I couldn't pay an unexpected $500+ bill that he did the work on without permission. He never called to tell me the diagnosis, problem, or what the solution is and how much it would cost. He also does not respect his own store hours and comes and goes as he pleases and you'll show up to a completely dark and locked up shop. Online says they open at 730, we waited until 8 to bring it in, only for him to not show up until 810 am. I get that it's his shop and there's perks to being your own boss, but it's still a business with operating hours and Joe takes way too much discretion that perk to where it negatively affects the customer experience now. All around I would stay the hell away from Pop's, which I hate saying bc I used to rave about this place and insist everyone bring their cars to Joe. Sad to see a family owned business get this messed up. read more

Very Disappointed with This Guy Joe. VERY Shady . Had my car for 3 weeks. Called Several times. He Never Answered Back. Car was a Mess when I came to pick it up. Whole Dashboard was a mess. It looked like he used a screw driver to start it. He had the keys!! He Never got it to run and Still Charged me $350 . He said it was labor. He does Not know what he is Doing. "Buyer Beware"!!! Drove all the way down to Coral Springs to buy 2 old cylinder heads that he said came off a 'running' engine. Paid good money for them and he rushed us out of there since he had an appointment.. Quick glance they looked ok, but when I brought them to my machine shop, they told me they both had several cracks along the 'rocker arm" bold holes.. Machine shop said they looked like he marked them with yellow chalk?? He knew they were bad and got me out of there quickly.. Sure I take responsibility for not being observant enough, but when the guy tells me they are fine and they weren't, I hold him responsible for scamming me. Called them because have an issue with car wobbling and the dealer tells me the alignment is absolutely dead on. Was told by dealer to take the car elsewhere and if they can find the problem they will pay for it. Call answered like I had just contacted the bail bonds man! Asked who I was talking to...Joe...introduced myself, and proceeding with asking if they give free estimates trying to explain the situation....NO!!!....Customer service begins with the first interaction...I can already see Joe is not someone I want to have a business interaction with. read more

After seeing such good reviews I decided to give Pops a try, as the mechanic I used for last 20 years retired. I Have an infiniti hard top convertible and the top was not working. I was warned that I should only take it to Infiniti. Well, Joe knew what the issue was, and even double checked with Inifniti to make sure he was correct. I paid a third of what it would have cost me to fix at the dealer and have now found a new trustworthy mechanic. As soon as you meet Joe you can tell he is honest and runs his business with integrity. Great guy, Great mechanic. Highly recommend him. read more

Pops garage has a way of twisting the facts of what really happened when my Toyota was in his shop (pops garage) for repair of a faulty distributor. When I left the car off, it was running fine except for the bad distributor. There was a $100 charge to diagnose the car (which did not come off the top as it does in every other shop I've been to) and told me it was the distributor, never telling me it would cost over $500. I found this out when he called me to let me know the job was complete and the charge would be $505 plus tax. I was very unhappy with the price but agreed to pay. When I attempted to drive the car home, it started to buck and miss terribly. I immediately turned back and told joe what was happening. If he really road tested the car he would have felt the problem immediately. However, instead of looking at it immediately he told me to leave it and he would check it out. But since he charges to diagnose ($100) there would be an additional charge. He sounded like the king of double dipping. He said I had additional problems but it seems odd I didn't have them until joe(the owner) replaced the distributor. We will see how this turns out since I now have to get it repaired at another shop. read more

had work done on my 2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo on 10/4/2016. requested premium shocks to be installed on my car. when i picked up the car the ride didnt feel right. talked to the local parts store . bennet auto supply on sample rd to the manager rob. was informed the shocks that they installed. did not meet original equipment specks. and were the cheapest available. not feeling comfortable with them working on it again i replaced them with the premiums myself. which returned the performance of the car to its proper status. was told by the owner at pops. joe zarem he would figure the amount to be refunded for the substandard shocks and get back to me. when i returned for the refund he refused. i had also left new wheel lugs to be swapped out on all four wheels. they did not install all as promised . and told me they did. owner was very a condescending toward me describing me as an idiot and how he would just keep me hanging for the refund . when he did not know i was sitting just outside his office. when he emerged and noticed i had been listening he told me i will not refund your money. (he had the return parts in his possession for the whole day.) taking legal action. talked further with the owner joe zarem and was able to come to a reasonable settlement for the returning of the damaged shocks . other issues were merely a misunderstanding. i will say this . the shop is extremely clean and has a historyof performing work on some of automotive history's classic rides. . sorry for the misunderstanding .thanks for the help with my ride. barry costa. . read more

I took my 2002 Boxster here after the owner assured me he could work on Porsches. My insurance paid to have my computer replaced. When I got my car back the radio no longer worked, the door lock light stayed on and pressing it made the horn go off, the fuel door would not unlock, the passenger side window no longer automatically dropped when the door opened and my lights no longer flashed when the alarm was turned off and on. I took it back to Pop's Garage and he told me that all of these things had nothing to do with him replacing the computer. It was just coincidence that all these things stopped working. He said the fuel door motor was causing it all. He got very rude about it when I questioned him and he also got angry that I was questioning him. He was also paid to perform a water test and said he found no leaks, however the next time it rained I again had water in the car. I discovered on my own that this was due to clogged drainage holes. He accepted the insurance payment and then contacted the insurance company again to submit yet another bill. The Porsche dealer just informed me that it is all because he did not program the computer correctly and should not have replaced it without the correct equipment to do so. A specific code needs to be entered and the computer synced which Pop's Garage could not do. Do not take your car here!!! read more
