My husband and I went on a 3300 mile UK road trip a few months ago and we discovered Poppy's on our way to Loch Lomond. Poppy's Tea Room was one of best "finds" our entire trip.
We arrived on a quiet afternoon, where the town seemed absolutely dead and we were the only people dining.
The decor is absolutely adorable with giant tables, fairy-lights and hand-written signage. It very much seems like a labor-of-love for whomever owns it.
We were shocked at the low prices. This was probably our least expensive meal on our whole trip, including fast food stops. We didn't order the afternoon tea (served on a cake stand) but I was stunned that it was less than five pounds. In London, we spent 40 pounds for a similar experience and that was on the low end of afternoon tea pricing.
I ate a 1/2 BTL and a bowl of cream of potato and leek soup. My husband had a ham, mozzarella and pineapple panini. We loved out meals! We topped them off with a brownie and a tropical fruit dessert bar. The bakery has a very extensive selection and everything looked great.
Besides the atmosphere and food being outstanding, we had a wonderful server.
We are so happy that we stopped at Poppy's! read more
