Poppins Payroll has saved me so much time and worry! I recently had to hire a temporary nanny when my son was waitlisted for daycare and the thought of having to *legally* manage a household employee was so daunting. We only needed our nanny for 3 months but wanted to do the right thing and make sure we paid her properly and had a contract in place (I used their template). Hiring our nanny and setting everything up was so simple. The cost is nominal and the peace of mind that I am doing everything above board is worth using their services. When I needed help and sent an email to customer service, Aimee S. was quick to respond and answer all my questions. They assist with all tax filings and send reminders when those are due. We used Poppins for 2.5 years to manage our nanny's taxes and payroll. In a world of headaches, bureaucracy and constant paperwork, Poppins made this part of our lives extremely easy. They filed all necessary paperwork for us, communicated upcoming tax payments in an easy way, payroll adjustments/management was reliable and a breeze, plus end of year tax doc preparations were always taken care of. I used this for my mother's caregivers. Since their hours varied weekly and we agreed to cover their FICA taxes I had to maintain my own spreadsheet and do trial and error to get the numbers to work out. I had expected more from a payroll service specifically for household workers. After my mother died I entered the final payroll numbers and then removed the employees. I thought I had to have an active account to get my year-end filings (and access to the filing cabinet), but didn't realize I'd be charged monthly for zero employees! What does that $49 cover? Be sure to cancel the moment you don't need their service any more! You can pay for the last payroll/quarterly filing and year-end filings explicitly after canceling. If you don't cancel they are happy to collect your monthly fee for doing nothing forever. I'll go elsewhere if I have household employees in the future. read more

I was really blown away by their customer service. I neglected to enter my payroll information for our caregiver on a timely basis over the Memorial Day holiday. Despite alerting us to the fact they would be closed on Memorial Day, I received an almost immediate response to my desperate email and phone call. It turned out that Molly came into the office specifically to help customers like me! She fixed my payroll and voila! Good to go! I was so appreciative and impressed. I used Poppins Payroll for an employee that i hired. The process from the start to end is just so easy. They took care of everything, from EIN to state employer account creation, to reporting the employee wages to states and filling all the taxes. The set up so easy, no software installation and no DIY stuff. Many people go ADP or other complicated payroll companies, even for small business and end up paying away so much plus they don't get the setup done for them. You have to pay separately to you must have a set minimum number of employees to be eligible for those services. Poppins payroll is the absolute best. Apart from their class A+ offerings, the customer service is just beyond expectations. I would absolutely recommend Poppins to anyone in need of payroll services for their nanny. The interface is very user friendly, but because it's taxes there will undoubtedly be questions, and Poppins also has a team of very knowledgeable and responsive people at the other end of the [email] line. Kudos if you want to manage payroll by yourself. We did not have the time or energy to invest in learning the ins and outs. Super seamless payroll system to pay nannies above the table - like everyone should be doing! You can mostly just set it and forget it and then if you need to add reimbursements, overtime, whatever, the interface is very simple. They pay all quarterly taxes for you and you have total peace of mind knowing everything is taken care of. When my son aged out of needing a nanny, cancelling my account was super easy and for a small fee they are going to still handle next quarters taxes and my end of year documents. We have been using Poppins for about 4 months for a caregiver we hired for our parents. The service has been really good. The least cost of any of the alternatives I looked at. They provide full services including weekly auto bank deduction / deposit. They are also very responsive to questions when you contact them. I also really like their web site and user interface. I've paid Poppins Payroll hundreds of dollars to "manage" my nanny taxes in 2021. Not only did they not impute the correct income as requested via email, or withhold necessary taxes they also did not send a W-2 to my employee. Don't walk RUN someplace else even if they're more expensive. I asked them to make it right or refund my money, and they are willing to do neither. They wanted to split hairs about former employees and charge me an additional $289 for them not doing their jobs. We have spent hours trying to sort out one mess after another with them and unfortunately they just want to nickel an dime, but not do their jobs. read more
