After hearing about Popeye's for years a branch opened locally. Seafood and southern cooking as fast food was intriguing so I gave them a try. Butterfly shrimp was the star, properly cooked with a crisp, spicy coating and a wonderful aroma. The biscuit was warm and buttery. Mashed potatoes with cajun gravy had a bit of spice and were ok. Macaroni and cheese was disappointingly bland with overcooked pasta. Despite opening as covid-19 began shutting down restaurants Popeye's has been a hit, often having long lineups for takeout.
