My mother, Pastor Ann Johnson, had already done a pre-burial arrangement with this cemetery. I wish…read moreI had known more about this cemetery and also MORE about Pope's Funeral Home in Ry Mt. It is so unfortunate that when you are grieving and find out that things were not done according to what your loved ones have expected. A day or two before my ,mother was to be buried, I found out that the plot she had chosen was not going to be honored because my stepfather who was in the military was not buried there; therefore, they found another spot close by. This spot where she is now is very wet and moist and I do wish that the cemetery had asked me about another plot I could have chosen for her, but they did not. As far as POPE was concerned, my mother's funeral was "RUSHED" because POPE had too many bodies on that day to take care of. Therefore, misinformation from the wording of her services were also missed by some people who wanted to attend and they ended up at the gravesite for what they thought would be services! It seems as though the Pastor/his assistant also were too "BUSY" to accompany my mother's body to the cemetery; therefore, the closing ceremony to commit her body was done by the Funeral Home instead of by the Pastor or His Assistant. Committal was done inappropriately and the Closing Prayer was done by her daughter, ME. My mother was indeed a Servant of the Most High God and deserved a better burial than this. I pray that this Cemetery will also make sure that they consult with the families more and drain out the excess water that migrates in various places where loved ones come to place showers and memorabilia at their place of rest.

We buried my grandmother this past weekend at Gardens of Gethsemane, where she purchased 2 burial…read moreplots many decades ago. We found after arriving that they'd moved her plot (troublesome because she'd given the other plot to her brother for his funeral 10+ years ago!), AND we were being directed to park quite some distance away. Being that we'd just come from the funeral, we were all wearing dress shoes, and the majority of our party was older (canes, walkers, trouble in their feet, and knees) so this presented a problem as we were being told to maneuver either over rocky gravel or through the grass over others' graves. Since this wasn't at ALL what we expected from the last burial we'd had there, my cousin asked the woman directing the cars (rather short, with a very close hair cut) why we were being directed to park so far away. This turned into a heated conversation, with her attempting to cut him off while he was expressing his concerns, her beginning to gesture (which caused another cousin to have to step in to attempt to mediate), and resulting in her threatening to call the police on him to have him removed. After my cousins began walking away from her, she attempted to follow. Still raising her voice. Still gesturing. Still making threats. Soooo.... Yeah. Not a great experience from a family who has buried numerous relatives here, and definitely something that we won't forget since we were... you know... just coming from a funeral and saying our final goodbyes. Not sure what's going on with management, but this place has gone downhill. Wouldn't recommend
