Popcorn is the playful name of a big mall complex in the Hong Kong "suburb" of Tseung Kwan O located in the New Territories. We ventured out here to get a feel of a more residential area Hong Kong area and one easily accessible by the MTR. As seems typical of Hong Kong's newer malls, it is clean and bright, well maintained, busy, accessible by the MTR, has lots of mid-priced (as opposed to high end luxury) shops and eateries, and also has a connected hotel, in this case both a Crowne Plaza and a Holiday Inn. We enjoyed our visit here and getting a lot of mall fitness steps in while at it. It does appear true that the further out from Hong Kong proper one goes, it does become slightly more laid back, slightly less crowded, and slightly less intense on the hustle and bustle. read more

Pretty good mall that is connected to many of the great connections like the MTR and bus routes. The stores are very clean and updated with the latest trends. Connected to the mall is the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn. Both good locations to stay, and while you stay, when you go downstairs there are plenty of shopping and eating options. read more

Very typical mall in the suburbs. Very clean and decent selection of stores which are mostly mid-level. There are a few quality restaurants serving Chinese, Japanese, Western (California Pizza Kitchen), and the expected coffee shops (including Starbucks) & dessert bakeries. No, this isn't a place where you buy popcorn. Popcorn is actually the name of this shopping mall, located at Tseung Kwan O. Easily accessible from Tseung Kwan O Station. It's a little out of the way, but with MTR's coverage you can easily get there in 30-45 minutes from Causeway Bay. It's your typical suburban mall with your usual stores like Uniqlo, Chocoolate, Catalog, etc. Their food options are quite good, but the restaurants are quite spread out...there's no true "central" food court at all. There's two sections of this mall, called Popcorn 1 and Popcorn 2. The mall is connected to another mall called TKO Plaza, also one that's worth a walk around (Miniso is a good place to get some low-priced, decent quality, everyday goods). You can probably spend more than half the day in this complex, especially if you're an avid shopper. read more

If you're living in the TKO are this is one of the biggest mall to go to. The location is convenient as the Tseung Kwan O MTR station is on the ground floor of the mall. There is a Holiday Inn Express, a Crowne Plaza and a Vega Suites integrated as well. The adjacent Park Central Mall is connected by a bridge as well as the Popcorn mall 2. So you have a good variety of different shops and restaurants. You also find a smaller sized MCL cinema with 6 houses. In general you will find a lot of apparel, sporting goods, sport shoes and cosmetic stores. There are not many electronic stores, for that go to Popcorn mall 2 or Park Central Mall. They have a decent selection of restaurants, most of them inexpensive to medium priced. read more

Spacious mall with tons of shops - not your average local mall, definitely a little higher end. They do have parking, possibly free if you spend a certain amount of money at the mall. There are some nice performances here during major holidays. This directly connects to the Tseung Kwan O MTR station which is super convenient and the mall also connects to a smaller, more economical mall with more commonplace stores. read more
