Fave flavors were chile lime, chocolate covered strawberry & strawberry cheesecake. Also love that they have a variety of candy to purchase by weight and an amazing selection of soda pop in glass bottles. I'm always on the lookout for anything that reaches into my soul and pulls out all the giddy 5-year-old wonder that's buried under adulthood responsibility. When my sister excitedly texted me photos of Popcorn Piccadilly, I knew I needed to see it with my own eyes and taste it with my own tastebuds! Popcorn Piccadilly has one wall--shelves from one end to the other--devoted to fun-flavored sodas. Your eyes glaze over as you see one fantastic flavor after another, occasionally interrupted by a flavor like "ranch dressing," "butter," or "bbq." Perfect for a literal gag gift, if not for downing with your bags of popcorn! The wall on the opposite side is devoted to CANDY! Plenty of retro, cult-classic candies, interspersed with modern favorites (KIT KATS!!!!), to choose from! The floor has several candy displays offering huge glass jars of various flavors of jelly beans, gummies, sours, and more! Not an inch of that floor is dead space. If there's a spot, Popcorn Piccadilly has set up a flavor extravaganza offering you shortbread cookies or Moon Pies or peanut patties. The far back wall of the shop is devoted to its moniker: popcorn! An enormous television screen proudly exclaims the dozens and dozens and dozens of popcorn flavors available to you. The staff immediately welcomes you and explains the sampling rules--each group of visitors (not individuals, mind you) is allowed up to six samples. AND CHOOSING IS SO HARD, but an absolute part of the fun! Our sweet sales clerk advised us to sample the savory first, followed by the sweet selections. This is great advice! We chose two savories and four sweets. While the sweets weren't quite as thrilling as I expected--we tried wedding cake, grasshopper mint, key lime pie, and banana pudding--the savories were absolutely wonderful: fregosi pizza and loaded baked potato!!! Just like Violet Beauregard from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, I was describing the flavors as they hit me. It was a five-course meal! ;) First came the potato, then the cheese, next the sour cream followed by the bacon, and lastly, the scallions! It was too wonderful not to take any home. In the end, we left with our bounty: a bag of loaded baked potato popcorn, some retro gum and candy, a shortbread cookie, and a coconut lime soda! They don't try to sell you something you don't like just to make a buck. Also check out the jerky and cotton candy sections. They're fairly newer, but the cotton candy has a nice texture. Unique and evil. Next on the unique treats chopping block, cookies. Some of the best cookies I've ever had, I'd recommend stopping by and grabbing some if you need a good treat. I'd recommend popping by and asking what's new, always new treats coming through the doors. Chat with crew and find out what's new. Decided to keep it simple but if you want a more lengthy review take a gander at my previous note. I had seen this place before it opened and was excited to have a gourmet popcorn shop in this area! So upon walking in, I thought the design was really neat, and there were way more novelty items than I had imagined prior to coming in! Aside from gourmet popcorn, they also make their own fudge, they have delicious looking saltwater taffy and assorted rock candy. Aside from what I just named, they also carry vintage candy bars and sodas - stuff that isn't easy to find, there is a good chance they have it. You know that old soda you used you love 30 or 40 years ago but can't seem to find it except extremely expensive specialty shops or a whole case online? They might have it! There are also some very oddly named sodas, some of these names are just plain nasty... I'll give you a more mild name of one - Dog Drool. Ew. If you can get past some of those, there are quite a few unique sodas that I'd actually like to try. Oh and they let me try a fudge sample, I tried toasted coconut pecan. It was delicious but I decided just popcorn for today... Now, onward to the popcorn! So I sampled quite a few... and they are really cool about letting new customers sample popcorn! So far I have tried - jalapeño ranch, draft beer, fried pickle, kicking and screaming, red velvet and dill pickle. I liked them all, but the draft beer I didn't really taste the beer, and the dill pickle wasn't as dill pickly as I hoped it would be. I thought the jalapeño ranch was hella spicy! So I got it for my husband. It will be quite the unexpected kick for him! I was hoping that kicking and screaming would be like that too, but it was not. I am not sure it's properly named, but it was quite tasty. I got somewhat of a bite plus a cheesy element which I did like. I really enjoyed the fried pickle, unfortunately that is not what I got once I left. I heard the guy say dill pickle? To the girl at the register, she said no fried pickle. He acknowledged her. I assumed that he got my bag of popcorn right. I should've checked before I left, but she put it in the bag and I walked out. So it's on me I suppose. I didn't even realize until I got home. I work in the same shopping center, so I'd been stalking this place for awhile waiting for them to open! They have an amazing, albeit odd selection of flavors. I probably pop (ha ha) over once a week or so and I try to get something different every time, but I do have some favorites. If your into Popcorn, there's definitely a flavor for you here. Being in San Antonio, I was over the moon when I suggested Horchata to the owner, and he'd already been working on it. It's pricier which I would expect for anything labels "gourmet" but I also feel like it's worn it. I love the selection of candies, most of them are nostalgic, but a couple that are timeless like M&Ms. I was so blown away by the soda variations, I never knew there were so many. Although I'm also not a soda connoisseur. There's literally something in the this store for everyone. It's also a great spot for gift baskets for teachers or holiday, they had several on display for Christmas. And we're total foodies, so we knew we had to have this as our wedding favor. Popcorn Piccadilly was extremely helpful and accommodating with helping us get our popcorn for our wedding. They also offered labels with our names on and our wedding date, for a small price. Popcorn was yummy and we received lots of compliments on our choice. Because honestly who wants a beer coozie or some other random thing with other people's intials and wedding date on it. They were also reasonably priced. I felt like we should have walked through the back to a movie for what we paid. When you ask for a sample they literally give you 2 kernels. Wow thanks. You do know you could go to HEB and get organic central market popcorn for half the price. Ok so they have a bunch of flavors and cool old school flavored soda but that's it. I happened upon this shop today and could not have imagined a better experience! Katherine immediately greeted me and recognized I was a first time customer. Her approach and well spoken and informative guidance not only sold me on the product, but made me feel like I had purchased a VIP tour! There are so many options it could have been overwhelming but the well organized menu and 6 complimentary samples helped me make a decision and enjoy the few minutes it took to decide on my purchases. In addition to popcorn, the walls are lined with classic candy and various soda bottle choices, giving customers a nostalgic feeling immediately upon entering. This is a fun store filled with nostalgia! They have 100+ sodas, most I have never seen! They have the candies in glass jars, pricing ranging from 7.99-9.99 a pound. My kids love the gummies and rock candies. But the draw to Popcorn Piccadilly is in the name... popcorn galore. My mind was spinning over the selections and I wanted to buy ALL the popcorn. We settled on dill pickle, bacon cheddar, cornfetti (mix of their popular flavors), Dr Pepper and Root Beer float. Finally had a chance to visit this lil gem! I wanted to get rid of a sweet and salty craving of popcorn but not the normal stop at HEB. So I thought why not stop here after furniture shopping since it was along the way! OoooooMMMMMgggg am I glad I did. They are the kindest people and let you sample 6 flavors. I must say that was tough but the workers won't lead you astray and even tell you to try the sweet mixed flavor so you get more bang out of the samples instead of trying a single sweet flavor. I will definitely be back. I hurried to the car to tell my sister about the awesomeness I had just experienced and she and a friend drove all the way to this side of town for the love of the popcorn. My picks were the fried pickle and root beer in the mini size bags. Also I feel they give you a lot for the sizes. I also bought a friend a soda to try since there were so many I felt like I had to do a random pull and hope for the best. It was a good pick my friend said! NOT CHILD FRIENDLY. Rude, disrespectful, customer service. I was helping my children pick out their candies and the owner told me to "control my children " as they were browsing the shop. My daughter had lifted the candy lid on her own which she is completely capable of doing by herself. The owner explained that "the jar could have fallen on her". If you don't want children to touch the jars, post signs or maybe keep them out of reach of children...perhaps train your employees on the basics of customer service which could include helping your customers to minimize safety risks, since there are so many in the store. Let's add that the business has safety risks to small children that pose liabilities. There were 5 customer service reps in the shop. No one offered to help. Instead of helping me with my purchases the staff exchanged eye-rolls, smug smile exchanges, and a plethora of other disrespectful body language towards me when I stood up for myself and my "uncontrolled children". We come here every week and spend a lot of money to treat friends and family after church. I will not be returning nor will I be supporting the shop through references. It's too bad. I just wanted to do something fun with the family. Too bad they aren't safe for children or family friendly. read more
