Extremely Disappointed with Pop-A-Lock of Bartow I am beyond frustrated with the service I received from Pop-A-Lock of Bartow, dispatched to me through AAA. My Honda CR-V would not start, and while replacing the battery, my key broke apart in my hand. I requested a replacement key and was charged $225 for it. When the job was complete, I was given a replacement key that was NOT like the original. It did not function as the original. It didnt' even have the same number of buttons! Not much I could do about it so I let it go. Not happy, but I could cope. THEN I was told that the new key could not be programmed to match my broken key -- that the entire car system had to be wiped and reprogrammed. This process rendered my husband's key COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. Now they want to charge another $225 just to program his key. If I don't pay them to do it, we are left with a single working key. At NO POINT was I informed that wiping the system was required or that this would disable the other key. Had I known, I would have declined the service and saved myself the $225 by continuing to share a single key with my husband. I was willing to pay to have my second key and DID! To make matters worse, the technician twice promised to come back when he was in the area and make things right by programming my husband's key -- then backed out today and said the charge would still be $225. Pop-A-Lock told me I could request another service call from AAA to have them come out, but the cost would remain the same. $225!!! I cannot undo the original service or recover the money I lost. I want others to be aware: Pop-A-Lock will not inform you up front of the consequences of how they do their job, will not honor verbal commitments made to you to rectify it, and will leave you worse off than when you called - $225 poorer with only a single working key. Their response? Blame Honda not us and I should have told them there was more than one key to the car. I'm NOT a locksmith. I wouldn't know to tell them that unless they asked. I had NO experience or knowledge that would have led me to believe they weren't able to program to match my existing key. That simple communication of information would have saved me $225 and I would still have at least ONE factory key with all functions that worked. Truly disappointing experience. Pop a lock was great! I had an very old BMW suddenly no crank no start. Not the battery but my key just failed, it cannot communicate with my car anymore. Many other businesses was not able to help. But he was willing to give a shot, and he programmed a new key and it worked! Otherwise I would have just sold the car to junk car. read more

We were quoted a price over the phone which we accepted. When they showed up in a Triple AAA van I asked if I could get my Triple AAA discount. They said yes just call Triple AAA so I did. My keys got locked in the car with my purse and bag sitting on the front seat. I also had to get to work asap. Every# I was calling was over the top expensive AND if have to wait anywhere from 2-4 hours. I came across Pop A Lock and was amazed at everything from customer service to the tech that came out. Not only were they the most affordable (by far), everyone from customer service to the tech were amazing!!! They were polite, sympathetic to my situation and treated me as an individual not just another customer. Not helpful at all. My father was locked out of his shop and was upset. I was trying to help him by meeting the locksmith. They said they could help but wouldn't because my name isn't on the lease and my dad had no way of getting there physically. I offered the leasing companies information so they could call and verify my father who they spoke with on the phone with me was in fact the owner but they did not want to help at all. Lost the only key to our car. We decided to go with pop a lock because we always see their vans around the pool county area. They came out same day to make a new key. They were two hours late but it happens and they got it all fixed. Cost about $150-200 for the new key! Would call again for other lockout or lost key issues. read more

Had pop a lock come out 10/19 to unlock my truck door. The tech ended up breaking the door handle and I couldn't open the passenger door. After a week of trying to get in contact with them they agreed to meet me at the mechanic to see if the damage was really caused by them. Julie the "owner" told the mechanic to send over the estimate for the repair. The next day julie denied the request for repair and has since avoided all calls and emails. it's now been 3 weeks and I'm out $324 plus the $69 service fee. I've called customer service 3 times with no call back as well. Julie is the most unprofessional "owner" I have ever dealt with. read more

Awful service, AAA sent pop a lock in Lakeland ,the tech broke car handle and lock on my Volvo. He told me to call the company next day . The tech responded by text but never talked to supervisor or owner. No one called me, I went for a estimate at body shop, because door panel has to be taken apart. Sent estimate to tech since he was my only form of communication and he said he gave estimate to owner and was told estimate was too high. No one has still not called me . Right now I'm having to get in car from passenger side of car. Contacted aaa and they are handling it. They were contacting pop a lock and giving them three days to make contact. Today is day two, no one call. If AAA sends pop a lock for a key locked in car, please refuse the service and tell AAA to send someone that is approved by BBB. Awesome. Came to my house afterhours and programmed my Nissan Fob. After several locksmiths couldn't do it and some that never called me back, Pop-A-Lock was prompt, professional and easy-going. Price was way better than the dealer for the exact same service. She even told me to relax in my home until she was done. Was quoted for $100 to rekey a couple locks when I first bought one of my rentals. The technician was amazing and friendly. He asked me what I needed done for the house. I ended up getting upgraded to new locks which I needed anyways. While he was there made me a spare key for my wrangler. It was a great experience. They came right after I called them. read more

Pop-A-Lock has been a lifesaver this weekend! On Sunday night around 7pm I was referred to Pop-A-Lock Lakeland by AAA. I could not get my ignition in my car to turn on. Within half an hour Scott from Pop-A-Lock was on his way to help me, he calmly explained each step that he was going to do before he did it to calm my "poor college girl" nerves and even was nice enough to explain to my father over the phone what my options were! The next day another technician came to my residence bright and early to repair my ignition. After working on my car for two plus hours my ignition was still being stubborn but she offered me a new ignition until her team could figure out what was wrong! She has visited my residence three times today just to reassure me the problem will be taken care of! I would highly recommend Pop-A-Lock in the future! read more

I had a flat tire on I-4 in Lakeland. I called VW Roadside and they sent my call to Pop-a-Lock. They called to confirm where I was in the freeway and they would be there in 45 minutes, about 20 minutes later VW calls me and said pop a lock said I was in a dangerous area and wouldn't help me? Called AAA because my car would not start. Told them to have the rep bring a new battery for my car. Pop A Lock responded in twenty minutes. Mike, the rep, jump started the car, ran a diagnostic on it, then told me the problem wasn't the battery, it was the alternator. He said I could not drive it, it would have to be towed. After paying $48 for towing and sitting at Nissan dealership for four hours, I found out it was just the battery!
