I was just at this location and although I was impressed with the plant options, I'm extremely angry with the employees and who I'm guessing are the owners. One was not wearing a mask and one was wearing one only on her mouth and failing to cover her nose while having an open conversation to a guest wearing a MESH mask about how covid is a conspiracy theory and what not. There is a sign at the front entrance saying wearing a mask is mandated by law and yet they aren't following the rules. Very angry, would return plants if I could. read more

It is so fun walking around gardens and nurseries. I'm about to purchase my first house - yay me!!! - and so I'll have a place to actually tend and grow plants from now on. I've always loved little plants, and cactus are especially neat because there are such a variety of different ones (and I'm usually able to keep them alive!) Great cactus nursery and wonderful prices! read more

The display garden is worth visiting alone. Tons of succulents to glare at. read more

We stopped at Poots' on our way up the mountain to indulge my husband's succulent obsession. I think we spent over an hour there. WOW! The selection of plants is amazing, and the prices are remarkably low. The plants are extremely well cared for by someone who must love them very much. The store is as much botanical garden as it is nursery. Apart from the main sales area are housed twice as many plants not accessible to everyday visitors. The owner told us that it takes a couple hours to show those greenhouses and he only takes people through on pre-arranged group tours. The owners' garden, however, is open to visitors and is worth stopping for all on its own. It is full of beautiful and unique species, and enormous plants. There is also a large, lovely koi pond, full of fish as unique and beautiful as the plants surrounding them. I'm not the plant lover in my family, and was only there to indulge my spouse's hobby, but even I was awed by this treasure of a shop. read more

love this nursery... plants are hardy and thriving well.. there were all different kinds of succulents. Awesome place

Amazing nursery and amazing people, worth the extra 15-20 minute drive if you're going in/out of Yosemite. Cacti grown from seed by a guru grower, best cactus nursery in Northern California by far. I live about an hour and a half away but it's very much so worth the drive every once in a while, there's cacti there that you can't find within many hundreds of miles. read more

I went to Poot's to look for one certain cactus, they had it, the woman went over and saw it was the last one like it so she said it had bugs and took it back. She got my name and phone number but never called. I will never go back there. again. Their prices are way too high and the owners are rude. read more

A pleasant environment with a welcoming staff. An abundance of Cactus varieties with a price range to fit every budget. A wealth of information on how to take care of your cactus. Thank you read more

Definitely worth the drive from SF. It's ran by a husband and wife team who are very knowledgeable and friendly. Like a lot of cactus lovers, we were looking for unique/rare varieties and were not disappointed. The best part was sitting in the shade with the husband chatting about our favorite plants. We will be back and will be bringing friends! read more

Love Poot's! Great selection and great prices! Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Must plan another trip soon!

The cactus and succulent selection is unbelievable. Prices seem high to me, but there are lots of cool plants I haven't seen elsewhere, so I guess you have to take that into account. The only problem is the owner. He is a grouchy and mean old man. He has no clue what customer service is or what manners are. I bought over $120 worth of plants and he came out and accused my husband of taking the price tag stakes out of plants. Which he didn't. The old man said he had seen him over their surveillance video. My husband said he wanted to see the tape, because it didn't happen. The man got even nastier. My sister was wandering around as I was paying and heard the same old man get nasty with another customer telling her not to touch something in a horribly rude voice. We won't be back. And it's too bad for them as every time we have gone we have spent over $100, but the way they treat people is unacceptable. read more

A great place to shop with friendly staff that follow covid guidelines to provide a safe shopping experience! I will definitely be back to shop at Poot's Cactus Nursery! read more

They have great selection but didn't feel welcome. No hello no nothing. Definitely felt awkward walking around. When we asked for the price of a plant a grumpy man just just responded look at the price tag and walked away. It's really too bad since we drove 40 min to come visit. read more

What an amazing place. It was recommended by a lovely couple I met while working in a craft fair. It turns out they are cactus and succulent lovers like me! I'm so glad I listened and went to Ripon to see this amazing store. The front yard is full of beautiful succulents nd an awesome koi pond. They also have another area with more of their personal collection, which is fun to see and you can also get an idea of what your purchased cactus will look like or can look like if you treat them well. Their selection is varied and very reasonably priced. read more

I was so excited to come to Poot's. Cacti and succulents are one of those things that makes me really excited and happy. I was mesmerized by all of the giant plants as soon as you walk in. As we are in the middle of a complete landscape overhaul with a desert theme, I was looking for some mature cacti (all the bigger plants were $200-300). I walked in ready to spend major $ for the right plants that fit my new landscaping. I saw a few bigger plants I liked but there was a path leading to the back with a 'do not enter' sign that seemed to be pushed to the side. There was a clear path for customers to walk back, and in the distance there was massive beautiful plants. It caught my interest, but I was reluctant, seeing the sign off the side. I asked an older male worker if I was allowed to see the plants in the back where the path was. He was immediately almost offended? And he replied extremely rudely to me. He inferred that I couldn't read by even asking him if I could follow the path. I've never been been treated with such poor customer service by politely asking for some clarification. This business needs to seriously learn some customer service. My experience was ruined by this man and his terrible attitude. I left almost immediately after that and was deeply disappointed. This place is more of an attraction than a plant nursery and no real customer service. Every beautiful large plant has a "do not touch" "not ready" "not for sale" "do not enter" sign on it. This was such a huge waste of time. read more

Love this place. Visited once on way home from Yosemite and will always remember it. Talk about it all the time and we tell our friends. Also, just mentioned you on our Kelseyville Commnity Information Group page on Facebook Thanks for being an awesome place to buy from~~ read more

Went to look at inventory and found myself in an unmarked, but resricted area whereupon I met a man that proceded to chase me out of the building, accusing me of stealing. The man actually checked my pockets (cuz I love cactus in my pockets). NEVER AGAIN!! Its a shame too, their garden is gorgeous! read more

If you love succulents this is really the only place that I've found in the Tracy/Manteca area that has such a large selection. The staff was friendly and I couldnt tell you whether it's overpriced or not. To be honest, I dont care because I was able to find everything I was looking for and more at this place after looking at probably a dozen nurseries in the area. read more

AWESOME!!! If you love cactus and succulents this is the place to go! I'm in love with their gardens! If you go April - May you can catch the "Big Bloom" its breath taking. I enjoy coming here on the weekends to search inventory and of course purchase some new pokey friends for my garden. The Poot's family has a marvelous selection of cacti and succulents to choose from and very fair pricing! They are always helpful when I have questions and are more than willing to take the time to teach you the proper way to care for particular types of cacti and what goes good together in a pairing for your yard. Thank you Poot's for all your knowledge and help! I'll most certainly be back! read more

Bought my first two cacti here and doggone that Bill, made a cactus farmer out of me! A year later and I have over thirty cacti growing and several more ready to plant. Poot's is an awesome place. Cacti of every variety you can imagine and very nice folks to deal with too. Yeah, they are more expensive than Lowes or Walmart, but the cacti are of a much higher quality too. Please support this family run business as there is no other nursery anywhere in the area that has anything like Poot's! read more

Very disappointed to see that the succulents had aphids. You would hope they wouldn't sell infested plants. First nursery I have been to that has had bugs. Could have went to lowes or home depot and paid less. Definitely a little over priced. And over half the plants had no ids. read more

A little on the spendy side, but the selection is great. They sell fabulous soil for your succulents and cactus, too. The owner is a wealth of knowledge, I really enjoyed talking with him. read more

Poots is just plain awesome. They have a truly amazing variety of cacti and succulents. Their prices are the lowest I've seen (granted, I live within the inner sanctum of high tech). And, the quality of their plants... As good as it gets. So, get yourself on over there! read more

This place is amazing! We drive almost 2 hours both ways just to go here and it's worth it every time, even if we don't buy any plants. I love this place, and the selection! I always walk away with something new, and unique. A favorite place in the area for sure. :)

I love Poot's cacuts. I have been going there for over 10 years and you should my front yard. Everyone in the neighborhood and people who just drive by have to stop and admire my yard. My water bill is the lowest one on the block and I do not even own a lawn mower. I love Roelyn and Bill. They are the owners and they have helped me so much. I am going back today to give them their special gift that I give them this time of the year, every year. You should see the cactus when they are all in bloom, just beautiful. read more

Really old and crazy, beautiful cactuses! The gardens surrounding the nursery are breathtaking. There's a small selection when you first walk in but you have to go through the door on the right-side of the greenhouse to see more of the selection. There were a lot of different kinds of cactuses and succulents. Also, they had some really rare and unusual ones. All fairly priced so i was able to pick out some beauties. The owner was a really sweet lady and made us feel welcome! read more

This place is amazing. I've never seen so many incredible, otherworldly specimens of cacti. Every plant- and there are thousands- looks like it gets a daily dose of love. Poot's Cactus Nursery - Inside the greenhouse at Poots! - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Ripon, California

This is obviously a nice place to pick up a HUGE assortment of cactus and other succulents, but I don't need to voice that as all other reviewers have rightfully done so.. However, I took one star away because of the vast amount of unlabeled/unnamed flowering cactus such as Trichocereus, Echinopsis, Lobivia, Epiphyllum. So many beautiful ones but it's as if I haven't seen them when they are unnamed. No pictures either it just makes it very hard to shop when I don't know what I'm buying. I could easily buy unnamed cacti at Walmart or Home Depot. Price doesn't matter but when you are buying something that would potentially take years to bloom it's important to know what you are going to plant in the ground! I did plant a large trichocereus and I am not impressed with the flower color and size and am going to have it removed. Waste of time and money. One would expect a nursery of this scale to be able to sell cactus that have IDs, it can be done as many cacti nursery in Texas do this without issue. Provenance is very importance in the trade and when I'm shopping at a place that literally specializes in cactus I'd expect for the cactus to be named or at least pictured. Some are, but I can say that the most of the epiphyllum, trichocereus, echinopsis Lobivia, and related flowering species for the most part are unnamed. IF they are seedlings, it should just be stated as so. It's actually easier for me to shop online because I'd know what I'm buying. I took another star away because I encountered an employee who did not seem eager about answering any questions. You almost get the, "just buy it and get out" or "take it or leave it" vibe there which kind of left me embarrased as I recommended this place and brought a friend. This place is by no means a bad place to shop for cactus but I guess it depends on who you'd encounter and whether or not you care if your cactus are named. read more

Amazing, beautiful, great prices for the quality, quantity, and variety. I buy succulents for a business and have never been disappointed. Mr. and Mrs. Poot are always around ( sometimes hard to find right away since they do everything themselves ) and can usually help me with troubleshooting and recommendations. I like to drop by whenever I have time and don't live near there because succulents change so much according to their own personal growing, flowering, and dormancy cycles. I see something new everytime!! read more
