During a day visit to Frankfort, KY my wife and I visited Poor Richard's Book's on Main Street. If you are a true lover of books both new and especially new, this is your place. One of its 'calling cards' is the second floor attic that houses a fair amount of old treasures. You will be there a while perusing the myriad of selections. This locally owned bookstore has a rustic feel and features a coffe/pastry shop next door. It also features best sellers, new releases, local interest sources and gifts. My wife and I purchased several children's books for the grand daughter due this Christmas.

Wow! This is a GEM! My husband is the one who introduced me to this bookstore. He had purchased me A book there prior to me going. I am absolutely mind blown by this bookstore! From the vibe, appearance, the attic is super cool! I purchased 2 books and they even wrapped them and added handmade bows! The lady working was so sweet and friendly! I recommend anyone in the area to go by and check it out!

Really cool store attached to Kentucky Coffeetree! There were a few others browsing. They've got all kinds of books and some ladders if you need to reach something up top. They also had cute pathos plants thriving at the top of the stair by the windows! Very cool!

A new and used bookstore with deliciously creaky floors and library ladders. Coffee shop right next door. You can lose yourself for hours in perfectly dusty books!

    Fun ladders!

I work in Frankfort. While I don't love the commute, regular visits to Poor Richard's Books makes up for it. This little independent bookshop is packed to the brim with the national bestsellers, books of local interest, and gifts - and that's just the downstairs area. Upstairs you'll find stacks and stacks of old books and magazines. Walking up the stairs brings out the kid in me. It's like finding a secret passageway or a hidden treasure. Adventures await. Connected to Poor Richard's is the Coffeetree Café, where you can grab a latte and a snack - or a whole meal. And attached to that is the Completely Kentucky store, which sells products crafted and created by Kentuckians. I can't visit one without visiting the other two. But I usually make Poor Richard's the final - and longest - stop. I love it.

Each…read moreissue, near the cover page, includes a map of Kentucky with the counties featured in that monthly issue shaded. It is well balanced with a variety of topics of interest to most Kentuckians. Regular departments include Kentucky Kwiz, Across Kentucky, Curiosities, Cooking, Explore 120 Eats (A Quest to Taste Kentucky's Best), People, Off the Shelf, Field Notes, and Calendar. Of course all magazines contain advertising but the ads you'll find in Kentucky Monthly are all Kentucky related and blend with the contents of the magazine. I always find something of interest to read in the magazine. Even if I didn't the Guide to Kentucky's most interesting events at the end of the magazine provides a valuable tool for planning extra activities. It is not only broken down by dates it is also listed by regions (Bluegrass, Louisville, Northern, Western, and Southern). I've read the November Issue but now I'm outlining activities I don't want to miss in November.

It is informative, it is colorful, it provides a historical perspective for all things Kentucky. I have taken trips to visit sites they recommend, I have cooked food from recipes they print, and I have enjoyed the historical articles about Kentucky and it's sometimes eccentric denizens. If I ever leave Kentucky, and I hope to never do so, my Kentucky Monthly subscription will stay with me.

We called to get signed up for the next class only to be told that there were only five people to each class, and it was already full. We asked to be put in for next week's class. The day before our class, she called and told us that the Groupon does not include the prenatal class and tried talking us into taking a gentle yoga (yoga for seniors) class. We told her that the Groupon gave no exclusions to which classes we could take and that the prenatal classes were the only reason we bought the Groupon in the first place. She reluctantly told us that she would squeeze us into the next class. A couple of hours later, she called back and told us that she would not accept our Groupon for the prenatal class. By this time my friend and I was so fed up this this women that we didn't want to go anyway. We called Groupon and they were nice enough to refund our money. I would not invest my time or money in this place considering the customer service we got. There are so many other nice places run by nice people who want your business.
