Then, once I had worked through all of the DBT skills, I moved on to a bi-weekly process group that I still attend. This is the most productive therapy that I have ever experienced. Although it is possible to buy a DBT workbook or download a DBT app, there is no way I would have mastered the skills without Jennifer's expertise. In addition, I appreciate Jennifer's ability to really focus in on productive solutions as we apply the DBT skills. She is consistent in her approach and is very good at bringing the discussion back to the root issue. Before joining the skills group I had some very frustrating experiences with group therapy. I see now how important the facilitator role is and appreciate her very much. Her office is very inviting with comfortable chairs and a sofa to accommodate the group. Her waiting room is always stocked with bottled water and there is a machine to make hot tea. In addition, she is very professional but has a good sense of humor. I have found her to be very personable and am so glad that I was referred to her by my doctor.

I had an extremely negative view about therapy but deep down the things she taught me slowly improved my quality of life and I went from a therapist hating person to respecting the field in an insane way. I trust her 110% and now cant imagine how my life would look like (or maybe id be dead lol) if I hadnt seen her, had any sort of trust in her because during the beginning of my journey it was my LAST CHANCE ever trying a mental health professional again. I would pay 5x the price I have paid for the newfound love for life and purpose I have cultivated in my own life with her help in bringing awarness into my very self shaming, suffering life. I have had such an insane transformation with the help of her. DO NOT LOOK ELSEWHERE, if you actually want to experience real GROWTH. She has the best strategies and not only that a deep understanding of the field. It was not always easy but the steps she gave me were always actionable methods that got to the root of my trauma and I plan to continue therapy with her forever. She was always patient with me when I had prior therapists label me as TREATMENT RESISTANT and The more this happened the more deeply depressed I had become in that time. You don't get to pick who you see, though, and I ended up seeing her colleague, Amely Cardenas. After the consult, I immediately knew this wasn't the right practice for me. Amely was very stoic in our consult. For folks who want a therapist who comes off as unempathetic, she may be fine. I shared with her some of the reasons I was seeking mental healthcare, including some recent tragedies in my family. (Deaths, being in a shooting, etc.) Amely's response to this was the reason so many adults will not go to therapy. It was so unhelpful and tragically misplaced, I couldn't help but laugh. She sent me a document of "coping mechanisms" that included recommendations such as watching cute cat videos and to eat a little chocolate. Read the room, Amely. This is the reason people are afraid of therapy - because instead of having a human conversation with a therapist, I was met with a robot who told me to eat candy and watch YouTube. I ended up finding a therapist that treated me as a human. It was much better than this experience, which I wasn't even going to take the time to review, until I noticed they billed me and my insurance for a free consultation. Nice.
