They did a motor replacement for me, and they stole the original mounting board and screws and just let the new motor sit unmounted and vibrate itself to death. Waste of $500. James installed this personally. read more

I would HIGHLY recommend Pool & Spa Concepts without the slightest reservation. My purchase from them was a hot tub. The first thing that impressed me was the knowledge they had of the product they were selling and their willingness to explain the pros and cons of hot tubs in general. It was this kind of expertise that allowed me to end up with exactly the spa to fit my needs. My next concern was getting the tub into, what seemed to me, to be a very difficult space. Go anywhere else but here, ANYWHERE! Pool & Spa is by far one of the worst businesses I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Right from the start they failed to complete our pool setup in the time frame they promised. That is perhaps the most frustrating part about dealing with this company. They seem to have a really hard time doing WHAT they say, or doing it WHEN they say. Our pool piping looks terrible, as if it was installed by an untrained blind man. It only took the business owner 3 times of re-piping it to make it look marginal at best. Clearly whatever the easiest thing to do is always approach they take. Not a clue or concern if the job gets done right. I don't believe proper prep was done during installation either. The bottom of my pool is full of ruts and grooves. Not smooth and you can tell where the liner is stretched and sitting directly on top of support posts. The pool's stainless steel screws and galvanized metal started rusting almost immediately. Pool looks terrible at this point. Does quality stainless steel or galvanized rust out right away? No it does not. Funny how the quality stainless screws I've replace have never rusted. P&S also has very little if any in-store communication. That leads to customer concerns not being resolved in a timely manner. Expect weeks to months to pass before anything gets done. And make sure YOU follow up on the problem...they don't. Multiple times the person responsible for resolving an issue was never told about it. Is it my responsibility to assign tasks to your employees? Getting things done in a reasonable time frame is NOT a priority for P&S. I have been waiting weeks for yet ANOTHER replacement chlorinator. This part was incorrectly installed by the owner himself. The chlorinator owner's manual clearly states the unit should never be installed in a vertical position. That's exactly how he installed it. When brought to his attention, he insisted it makes no difference. The manufacturer confirmed that the unit was not installed correctly. Imagine that, the book shows a picture clearly stating how NOT to install it. And that's exactly what the business owner does. I guess he didn't read the manual. Not too knowledgeable from my experience. The unit is absolute junk, and 100's of reviews on the web confirm that. If you're going to P&S to get quality equipment, make sure you do your research first, because they don't. Again, still waiting on that chlorinator. The answer is "we're working on it." I'm not sure if these people simply do not care about customer service, or they simply have no clue. I suspect it is a mixture of both. James is the "go to" guy there. Ask just about any question & you're told to speak with James. No one else there ever seems to know anything about pools or spas, especially not the owners. If he is on vacation or not in, don't expect any help until he's back. I'm not sure what P&S would do without him. James is very knowledgeable and I gather very overworked. Every time I look at this pool, I sincerely regret getting it. Not only has my experience with Pool & Spa made me dislike them, it makes me hate my pool. Potentially nice people especially during bids and I am happy to support a local business, but am disappointed with everything after we accepted their bid. Get things in writing, check and double check what you are getting. Hope to get things straightened out with this local business directly, but highly unlikely. In the fall of 2015, Pool and Spa concept's owner, Don Snyder, messed up a project on our pool that left our automatic cover unusable. After two years of giving us the brush off and outright lying to us, we have begun dealing with another pool company in Cedar Rapids. One of my biggest regrets is that I was a fool for so long. My wife and I have been shopping around for spas for about 3-4 months. Let me tell you there's a lot of confusing information out there. After the first couple of months of research we about gave up, seems like a lot of dealers either don't know their product or they just don't want to work for the sale. After taking a rest from all of the searching we were told of Pool and Spa Concepts. My wife and I Checked out their website and were impressed with the products they sold. They were dealers of Artesian and Sundance spas. My wife being the skeptical one decided to check out the two companies on the web and found them to be top notch spa manufactures. We decided to stop by their showroom on a Saturday to see what they could offer us. First off the showroom was well stocked with lots of spas to choose from (on other dealer visits we were lucky to see 3-4 spas, not much of a selection). Even though they were very busy with other customers they took the time to greet us and give us a brief overview of the company and let us browse until they were finished with others. After a short wait the manager introduced himself and proceeded to get to know us and what we were in need for our "Backyard Getaway" as he described it. After telling him of my wife's neck pain and my lower back issues he seemed to zero in on a few spa models that would help us with our aches & pains. We also discussed that we have a 14 year old daughter and a 16 year old son that had lots of friends and would like it if the spa was large enough to accommodate them on occasion. That narrowed it down to two models that looked like they would work out just fine. He described all the features of each spa and did it in a matter that made my wife feel as though she was a spa expert. My wife and I were very impressed not only by the spa brands but by the knowledge of our salesperson; he even offered to let us demo the spas in the showroom with our entire family. We took advantage of his offer and brought the family back after hours a couple days later and tried out both spas. After trying them out I could see us using this every night, it was soooo relaxing. The jets seemed to relieve all our aches & pains and the kids loved the idea of having friends over to use it. After comparing the two spas we decided to go with the Sundance Optima, it had all the features that we were looking for and price fit nicely into our budget. Our sales person made everything so easy to pick our spa, from the presentation, the demo and even the paperwork and delivery, everything went smoothly. It's now been a month since we had our spa installed and the whole process has been wonderful. We use our Sundance as much as possible. The kids have even had a couple small fun nights with their friends over using the spa. I think one of the best things about Pool & Spa Concepts is the after the sale customer service. My wife called to ask a water maintenance question and was given a solution on the spot. Whatever the question they have the answer. They offer chemicals, accessories, water testing and service after the sale.
