I honestly wanted to just stay in the cosy, beautiful room and watch the UK top 40 on my tv all day long and rest and relax and enjoy life. forget the ridiculously expensive hotels that face the sea. this place is a hop, skip and a jump from the boardwalk. and nothing beats the service of a bed and breakfast. so personal and friendly! It's a family-owned and managed bed and breakfast and i swear if i'm ever lucky enough to return to Wales, I'm staying here again. I was on a 2-week long trip to Europe and going all over the place and had a huge suitcase with me and i didn't know there was no elevator. I have a bunch of herniated discs in my neck and lower back so I'd asked if anyone could help me with the suitcase and his young daughter said that she'd take care of it for me and i looked and her and said oh gosh no, let's do it together! but then her dad came by and did it himself and insisted on it and not taking a tip and i felt so horrid but so grateful. they also helped with directions and suggestions on where to go and what to see. i didn't have breakfast there but they have a beautiful breakfast area and people there were enjoying their Welsh b'fast. i grabbed some juice and was off to explore this phenomenal and unbelievably friendly town of Llandudno. The room was super clean, the bed was super comfortable, the tv had a million channels including American ones, but who's watching American tv in Wales? not me! the bathroom was excellent. great water pressure, abundance of hot water, the shower area might be small for an american dude but it was perfect for me. the day i left i had to catch an early train to london and the owner's son was SO kind and woke up at 5A.M. just to help me lug that damn suitcase downstairs. WHO DOES THAT???? i insisted on tipping and thanked him profusely. and in case you're wondering, that suitcase finally died in London and i bought a smaller suitcase to fly home with. so don't worry guys, next time i'll handle my suitcase myself ;)

There is no parking, as advertised and I didn't think it would be as much of a problem as it was. In the end only parked 5-10 minute walk away and it was free. The outside of this place is one of the best in Llandudno let alone the street. It looks like it should be some where warmer, there are palm trees and everything is a sandy colour. The room itself is on the top floor, there were sloping ceilings and a very dark corner of the room but it is well decorated as is the bathroom. There is a bath with a shower attachment which cannot be mounted to the wall because of the low ceilings. The bathroom itself is large and airy with good lighting. The only pet peeve I have is it is fitted with a saniflow pipe system, this is when there is a box plumbed into the toilet and all pipes from bath and sink go directly into it and it pumps water out of that part of the house; usually used when there is no existing plumbing. The noise, oh the noise. I'm surprised we didn't have complaints when both of you want a bath and the water has to drain through that motor. The breakfast room was beautifully decorated with bay windows and a filling again like you should be abroad somewhere, the food was delicious and the portions good considering that it was free. Staff were friendly and courteous. I would stay again, but would think hard about it in the busy times for parking. I would also request a room on the lower floors.

You will waste time on transport by bus and using a car service gets expensive. The lift / elevator does not work so if you have a disability you have to make sure u request ground floor otherwise you have heaps of floors to climb. The floor were dirty. Also some of rooms have only skylight window. My travel mate's window was not securely shut or was leaking so he felt the wind all night and rain was coming down his face. There is no complimentary soaps in the rooms either.

The staff is very gregarious and helpful. They will do their best to help you if you have any request. The hotel is 5 minutes' drive from Liverpool City Centre but it is far enough so you don't have to suffer from noise; the area is effectively very quiet. My room had a bathroom with a great shower and was spotless clean. Teas and coffee, biscuits and even mineral were provided. A hair dryer was also present if you needed it. TV with a freeview box was also present. My favourite thing about my room was the nice decoration and the bed. The bed was very comfortable and the lining was so comfortable as it was 100% cotton. Wi-fi was available for free in the lounge which encompasses comfy leather sofas and a widescreen TV. The breakfast is lovely too and you are spoilt for choice: continental, full English or a bit of both world. Whether you are here on business or on a mini-break to discover Liverpool city, I can only but recommend to stay here. I only paid £49.95, which was cheaper and far nicer than staying at a Travelodge.

Now that I have described the meaning of one of my favourite words to utter, I may continue on my merry way to review this hotel . Any how on my yelp inspired journey I bring to you my fellow yelpadres another chain of hotels in our fair greens of Kingdom of United by the name of Village hotels. Twenty be the number aye of hotels of the Village persuasion and this one has taken my fancy indeedeth!!! You see whether your stay is for business or for leisure this place does not dissappoint, as unfortunate as the name may be. There really isn't much not to like here you have comfortable bedrooms, a state of the art Health and Fitness Club, decent restaurant, ok pub, nice Café, Healthworks wellness and beauty, The Hub meeting and conference centre, VILLAGE live party nights and a Velocity Fitness Shop!!! God that was a mouthful wasn't it. Amongst all of that throw in free Wi-fi throughout the hotel and over 300 free car parking spaces, and hey presto you are in bob's your uncle territory!! There really seems to be a great package you get with this hotel chain which is going bit further and making more effort than some other hotels. It's location also isn't too bad either with it being only a few minutes from Junction 5 off the M53. Ideal launch pad really for exploring the Pool, Albert Dock and Beatles Story as well as the superb shopping on the Wirral, Chester, Marina West Kirby and nearby Cheshire Oaks. Despite having 117 bedrooms you'd still have to book well in advance as they are busy busy busy which is a good sign for a hotel. I like the decor of the rooms it creates a workable fusion between rustic and modern and of course as is the norm these days, all rooms are equipped with flat screen TV's with Sky Sports and other satellite entertainment channels. The hotel also boasts these Sealy ZZZzzz beds which are specially designed to prevent tossing and turning and relieve pressure points while you sleep. Hmmm the jury is out on that one but they are damn comfortable I tell you that because I am actually aware of the Sealy bed making company and yes they do make very nice beds!! I liked this Village hotel, and I'd definately stay in another Village hotel again might look it up when I'm next on the move.... So...why don't you look up this one now that I've introduced you...who knows you might have a great night together !!!

The room is extremely small but it's clean which is good enough for travelers like myself who value convenient location and reasonable price over room size and fancy decors. It's not that far from Lime Street Station, it's about 10-15min walk but if you have a suitcase, take a cab. It was less than £4 from the station. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Book ahead because this hotel gets sold out quickly. I'd definitely stay here again.

It wasn't much of a chance but rare one bags a bargain so readily these days. Location wise it really couldn't have been better. There were plenty of places to eat and drink very close by and key tourist and shopping locations are right there. Room size is small but actually this is more a short break or 'out all day' kind of place, so you are just likely have an overnight bag and need a place to flop. The big screen TV was a very welcome treat along with huge selection of Sky TV channels, including films, sports and HD. Wi-fi was great ... zero problems with speed or connection - it was also free! I'd say finish and cleanliness was 4**** hotel standard. Service exceptional. Free cheese and wine at 5pm, so you can meet the other guests and staff if you fancy it.

I visited last Saturday night in a party of 6, eating at 8pm. we arrived slightly early so as to have a drink before dinner, first impression wasn't great as there were a huge collection of dirty glasses on the bar, oddly despite the fact that various members of staff were milling about, no one seemed to be that interested in moving or cleaning them. We took a table in the corner of the bar and were immediately aware of a gale force wind emanating from the air conditioning vent above our table. We asked for this to be turned down, the staff member informed us that it would be taken care of - it wasn't. Not until the we asked for a fourth time did the wind cease. Venturing out of the bar and into the toilet area, a general level of untidiness was again obvious. The used towel bins were completely overflowing and there was no toilet roll - I'm reliably informed that the situation was mirrored in the ladies toilet. It was around this point that we released the time had moved on towards 8:30 and we were yet to be taken to our table. upon inquiry we were informed that the table was indeed ready... why we hadn't been informed is anyone's guess. We were taken to our table a young man who immediately informed us that he didn't have enough menus, so we would have to share... he went off to look for more but never returned. This all seemed very odd given that the restaurant was little more than half full (lucky for us, how much worse could it have been??). Once again some time passed until we flagged down a passing waitress, she fetched a wine menu which the previous waiter had failed to provide, she was also able to hunt down additional menus with little trouble. The lady proceeded to inform us that she was very busy running two sections and wouldn't be able to give us too much attention. Given the incompetence of everyone we'd deal with thus far, this didn't seem like a bad thing, although it's always nice to know as a paying customer that there are other people somewhere else who are a higher priority that you - the true essence of good service and why people are happy to pay inflated prices at restaurants such as this (no.. wait a second?). Clearly noticing that our spirits were at a low ebb, the waitress decided to really lock in the bad feeling by giving us what could only be described as a 'warning' not to order the tasting menu unless we all wanted it. It sounds like I'm going over the top but we really were made to feel like naughty school children - crazy! The next disappointment came only moments later when the waitress returned to take our orders. Given it had only been about 60 seconds since we'd received our menus, it was unsurprising that no one was ready to order. I ordered some wine but was amazed by the waitresses complete lack of knowledge on the subject, especially considering the wine list contains little more than 20 different bottles!! This was highlighted when rather than repeating my order in confirmation the waitress quoted back the reference number from the menu - as if I were ordering food in a Chinese takeaway! From this point on I was continually irked throughout the meal as every time I ordered wine it was taken to another member of our table. We were only offered the opportunity to try the first bottle, I suppose all subsequent bottles were assumed to be in a suitable condition based on my review of the first. To be fair the wine was excellent, but credit here should go to the supplier rather than the restaurant. After an inordinately long wait our food arrived. before we could start a young man gave us a verbal overview of our dishes, I can only assume from his stuttering delivery that this was indeed his first night on the job, if so then it seems to unfair to criticise too much. When the food finally did arrive it was the absolute definition of mediocrity. Remarkable for nothing more than the stingy small portions and distinct lack of either quality ingredients or creativity. Vanilla is the word that springs to mind. The Peanut Parfait and Espresso Martini deserve a special mention - the former was rock hard to the point where it was impossible to eat and the other was simply disgusting - undrinkable. Cheese get an honorable mention - very pleasant... although once again, credit to the supplier rather than the restaurant. Throughout the meal the air-conditioning saga continued. it was eventually resolved shortly before we left and a comfortable temperature was restored, albeit a little late. The final insult was the bill, weighing in at a budget busting £420 - not including drinks in the bar. We paid and left... never to return. This place was more fun when it was a police station, and the food was probably better too.

Beautiful outlook over the racecourse makes the whole time there all the more pleasurable. That said the food is ofcourse the main attraction. You can choose up to 5 courses, which I would call starter-size. Its not quite tapas or a taster menu, but is an interesting idea. There are plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails and a wide selection of spirits and wines too. Unfortunately on this occasion we were on our own in the dining room (Sunday dinner) which was a bit strange and also the wind was howling round the building and the heavy rain did not help (hence not decent pictures as the room is quite dark), but i would come back again. You can also hire out there private room for £75 per person, up to 24 people.

One gripe I do always have about Blundellsands train station is that it's sort of plonked in the…read moremiddle of nowhere (as far as a mere Formbyite like myself is concerned). It's basically sat in the middle of a load of estates and I nearly always manage to get lost en route to there when I'm getting the train back home. Location issues aside, Blundellsands is a fairly pleasant station these days. It has recently undergone a small refurbishment which included the installation of indoor seating areas, ideal for those chilly winter nights when you're waiting for the last train and you're looking to avoid the drunken old man who is just dying to tell you his life story and what life choices you should make. With the recent refurbishment also came the electronic boards that inform you how long a wait you have before the next train (can you even remember a time when we didn't have them? It seems positively prehistoric to think of a time when you had to guess whether you'd just missed a train or not) and the little kiosk just outside is a good place to stop off for a drink or snack if you're stuck waiting for a while.

The lines leads from Southport to Hunts Cross and while there are no direct intercity links, the destinations include major links such as Sandhills for connections to Ormskirk and Kirkby, Liverpool Central for connections to Lime Street and the Wirral Line and connecting trains to Preston and Blackpool can be caught from Southport. Blundellsands has recently undergone quite extensive renovation with the original waiting rooms being heated, new cycle storage, a customer toilet and a vast overhaul of the parking facilities, which are free to use. There is one automated ticket machine, a payphone and a small kiosk with all the essentials. My only criticism of Blundellsands Station is the disabled facilities, while there is a ramped subway enabling access of prams and cycles, I don't feel this is good enough for disabled customers. My grandmother s wheelchair bound and finds the ramp far to steep to navigate; when using the train we are forced to continue to the next station whose two railway lines are separated by the platform, change trains and come back again! Considering the number of retirement and nursing homes surrounding Blundellsands this inability to access the station is absurd. The staff at Blundellsands are invariably pleasant and sociable, they have worked at this station for years and always remember a face.!

The service was quick, the staff friendly and we enjoyed a nice relaxing meal in comfortable surroundings. We will go there again.
