You really need a car to get here as we found out after taking the National Express and being told…read morethe site was just down the road! It is actually a good mile down the road and then approximately half a mile or so from the park gates to reception. Believe me, this is no fun carrying luggage, pushing prams and having young children in tow. All the amenities are located together centrally, which is a drag if you have to go the shop, return to the caravan and then come back out again. You're really at the mercy of Haven's limited facilities if you've no transport to get off the site and visit North Wales and this can become tedious and made us stir-crazy! We paid extra money to book trampoline, roller disco, football coaching and pool inflatable sessions for the children. With the exception of the pool, all of these activities took place in a tatty sport hall with inadequate equipment and bored staff. The chip shop is to be avoided at all costs; the restaurant is nice but expensive and the only other eating out experiences are with two counters inside the arcade: Papa John's which didn't open until late and Burger King. Papa John's had no seating area and BK had just three high tables. When we tried to eat with six young children in one of the two empty show bars, an extremely rude bar manager chased us out again (it was 30 minutes before its opening time). We found the only option but to eat in the caravan which was costly using the site's one Spar and thus, missed children's shows due to time wasted cooking and walking back down. On the positive side, the caravans were cleaned to a high standard; the majority of staff were friendly and the beach and dunes were in easy reach. Returning home, we paid a local cab firm to take us from reception to the bus stop on the main road at a cost of £7 each for two cabs. Our driver told us that National Express were notorious for failing to stop here. Guess what... he was right! A woman from a nearby house also came out to tell us the same. We ended up paying the cab firm to drive us home. Apparently, National Express once used to drive up to the park but obviously this relationship ended because Haven are more concerned for their car owning holidaymakers and don't need to concern themselves for the minority!

At the end of the day haven is an ideal little break for a family with young children....as an…read moreadult you cant expect to be overwhelmed by the entertainment but the kids love it, credit goes to the young entertainment staff who probably get paid peanuts but keep the kids busy while the adults enjoy one or two drinks without having to worry where their kids are from one minute to the next. Ignore the negative reviews....if you have got young kids and need a little week away they will love it! In the end thats who haven is designed for!! Oh and be prepared for wholesale chavery on mass! Mostly people from manchester or some inbred yorkshire town!

We all stayed in Chalets, my parents had a standard 4 berth chalet - it was absolutley tiny! They had 2 single beds which did not seem to be full size singles with springs sticking out so they stopped on the sofa bed which was very hard. There was a very small kitchen which was filthy and in desperate need of modernisation. Myself, my husband and my son stayed in a Large 6 Berth chalet. This was very spacious and quite clean, we had 2 bedrooms each with a double bed and a single in. Both chalets had electric meters in and I was shocked to discover that we had to buy a £5 card even though we were only staying for the weekend (there was about £3 left on the meter when we came home). The site is obviously well used and quite clean although there is broken glass in most of the public outside areas. We did not eat out on the site so can not comment on the food. The beach is only a short walk away. The baby Leos area was lovely and it was clean but there were no chairs for adults to sit and the two drinks machines were both out of order. The swimming pool area was really lovely and it was very clean as were the changing rooms. My son absolutely loved the pool and the animals in it. There is a very well stocked shop on the site and the prices aren't bad. The staff seem friendly and helpful and overall we had a nice weekend (my parents spent most of their time at our Chalet)

Gilfach Goch (Red Hollow) Farm is a self-catering, three bedroom Cottage that sleeps 5 but on the…read moresame farm there is a four bedroom converted barn conversion that sleeps eight. It is a grade 2 listed 400 year old traditional Welsh Farm house situated in heart of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. The cottage is oak beamed with slate floors on a 60 acre Welsh hill farm overlooking the sea and Shell Island. It has a Crog loft with 3 interconnecting bedrooms and a bathroom. Down stairs there is a living room with wood burning stove, a dinning room (with a wood burning stove) and a modern fitted kitchen. The cottage is secluded and approached down a 1/2 mile private drive, yet it is only a mile from the village of Llanbedr. The Barn Conversion named Ty Gwenol sleeps eight.. This is a conversion of two barns dating from the 17th century with many original features and extensive exposed beams and oak floor. It has a large modern farmhouse kitchen/diner and the lounge has the original high barn ceiling with the exposed A frame timbers. There are 4 twin bedrooms in all. Bedroom 1 is upstairs in the main barn and has exposed beams. Bedroom 2 is situated downstairs has an adjoining shower room with wash basin and toilet. Bedroom 3 is in the new extension. Bedroom 4 has a high original oak beamed ceiling with an ensuite shower room, washbasin and toilet. This bedroom also features a kitchenette and is the room we often choose if available as this also has its own separate entrance. There is also a full sized bathroom with shower over the bath. Outside is a patio area and lawned garden overlooking farmland and the coast. Through the woods to the back is a large stone circled fire pit and if you ask Roger and Lesley nicely you may even get an night under the stars round a camp fire. There is parking for 3 cars I will be totally transparent and say this farm is owned by a member of my family and although you may expect a little bias, I am reviewing this after staying in all of the parts of the farm, talking to countless guests and hoping that others more unconnected with the family will back this review up. Many of the people I have met staying at the same time as me have been there before, booking once or twice a year and returning regularly. I think the accommodation is great value for money, the surroundings beautiful and the spot is a great base for exploring North Wales. Should you also want to do some adventure activities, Roger and Les can cater there too!
