Sometimes life hands you a lemon, but, with the help of the right people, you can turn it into lemonade. That was certainly our experience with the folks at Pono Podiatry, as with their help we were able to turn a bad experience into a good one. My wife and I were just a few days into our vacation here when a minor issue with a bunion on her foot suddenly became a major issue, with blisters, toe abrasions and swelling so painful she had difficulty walking. We knew she needed to see a podiatrist, so did our best to pick a good one based on reviews. We lucked out big time by picking Pono Podiatry. Our good experience began when the front office staff listened sympathetically to our predicament and managed to squeeze us in at the end of a very busy day. When we arrived they were especially friendly and helpful. This was great, but of course the most important aspect of any medical office is the provider--and frankly I can't say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Lee. He was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and exceptionally good at making complex medical topics understandable. I have a chronic illness so deal with lots of doctors and trust me, this is a rare combination of characteristics. He took the time to explain both the best temporary solution to my wife's issue (it worked like a charm, the next day she was able to walk a couple of miles with no issue; we were thrilled) as well as arm us with great info on the types of surgeons and procedures we should investigate for a more permanent solution once we get back home. I was over the top impressed! My son has had ingrown toe nails and fungus issues for over a year. We had 2 previous surgeries trying to get him relief. I've been hopping around with pain from plantar fasciitis for 4 months and it has been getting gradually worse and creeping up my leg so I decided to seek some professional help. I have never visited a podiatrist before and after seeing Dr Lee's reviews I decided he was the man to start with. I'm so glad I did! The office has free parking, is easy to find, clean with nice decor, staff are extremely welcoming, and the treatment rooms are well equipped. Dr Lee himself is friendly, precise, professional and so easy to communicate with at every level. He knew exactly what I had, where the pain was and offered a number of treatment plans and approaches. Exercise sheets were printed out (they email if you prefer) and Dr Lee showed me how to do them so I wouldn't hurt my back (I have ruptured discs). He gave me a number of slippers to try on so I could choose the most comfy one and a print out of where to purchase them was provided too. A referral to a physio was organized for the following week and a 6 week follow up with Dr Lee. It was a whirlwind of organized professionalism. You know you are in good hands so you will have good feet. I also liked Dr Lee offer of steroid injections as an option if I really couldn't cope. I want to do the physio/exercises to see if I can relieve the pain in a natural way, but I have backup if I need it for instant pain relief. If you are suffering with any foot or ankle problem I would definitely recommend Dr Lee and his team. 10/10 read more

This practice is wonderful. I was on vacation and had a painful foot problem. Dr. Lee (and his receptionist) were attentive and caring and fixed me up so I could resume my trip. You never want to have medical issues far from home but this office fit me into a very busy schedule and cured me so I could put my flippers back on and get back to my snorkeling! read more

I can't say enough how much I appreciated all of the time and true care that Dr. Lee and Lisa took with my son. My son stepped on a sea urchin and had quite a few of the spines stuck in his foot. We first went to a generic urgent care office that said there was nothing that could be done. From a friend, I was referred to Dr. Lee who was AMAZING. He really took his time with my son, even after hours, and helped get the biggest spines out. He also put a poultice on the foot and some temporary pads in my sons shoes so that he could walk property. Very few doctors have left such an impression of caring and competence as I have had with Dr. Lee. He's truly one of the best. Thank you to Lisa as well for getting us in so quickly. Dr. Lee was INCREDIBLE with my 11 year old. My boy is extremely squeamish and says everything hurts, but Dr. Lee made him feel brave and confident while he cut and cleaned the infection I created on his toe. This infection that he got was from me cutting his nails and trying to clean all the toe jam out! I wish Dr. Lee was a pediatrician so I could bring my kids here more often!!!! Dr. Lee is amazing!! I am visiting Maui and broke my toe by accidentally kicking the back of my teenage son's foot. Urgent care confirmed it was broken but I wanted more information. The urgent care doctor referred me to Pono Podiatry. They were kind enough to squeeze me in the same day. He looked at the X-rays and gave me so much comfort, advice and guidance on how to take care of the break so that I will have no long term complications. This DR is the best!!!! The way he runs his business, he gives you so much information to help yourself get better it's incredible. You are greeted by his wife who was so friendly just like the doctor and so accommodating and understanding. Maui is so fortunate to have a doctor like this!!! I've been seeing him for over a year and the information and the care that he gives me to get better with his help and get better on my own it's incredible. Today I went in to what I thought I needed a steroid shot to help me with my ankle problems. Instead of giving me a shot and sending me on my way he examined me and said this is your issue you do not need this shot, this is what you need. Not too many doctors do that, they take the easy way out and make some money and send you on your way.
