Really quality care here. The Dr. is very nice and considerate and really takes her time with your appointment. I had a procedure done for an ingrown toenail and she was great at making me feel comfortable and talking me through the procedure and post op care. Parking is close by in the garage just make sure to bring a couple of quarters.

    My life and time saver!

I ended up running late because of a rain storm that slowed traffic coming from the Pali. When I arrived there the parking lot had many parking spaces. I found a good spot, parked then I walked right in. The cashier and registration desk is easy to find in the center of everything. I was immediately greeted upon entering. The line was short and moved quickly. Although I was a little late they checked me in and the Doctor was able to see me a few minutes after I arrived. Dr. Onizuka was friendly and took his time allowing me to ask questions and do a thorough exam. The girls at the front desk were pleasant and had that spirit of aloha. The facility was clean and the noise was appropriate for a doctors office. Overall I had an excellent experience. I will make more of my appointments here in the future.

Many stayed because they like the Hawaii lifestyle but they know nothing about Aloha. I will never go back there again unless I am unconscious. I don't like hospitals and get anxious when I have to go, and they were so rude to me they turned it into a full blown panic attack. I tried to leave and they physically restrained me after I said these words "You do not have permission to touch my body." They violated my space in a big way, and that is illegal. You don't have a right to hold a patient down who does not want to be touched. I was already out the door at that point. You're lucky you didn't get sued. Then when I was sitting on a bench waiting for my husband, and meditating to calm myself down, they threatened to call security and HPD to remove me. I'm thinking go ahead, maybe they will give me a ride. Then they did send a humongous security guard who told me I was trespassing on private property and had to leave right that moment. WTF? I'm a little old lady who didn't want to be manhandled either. He was my son's age and was polite and just doing the job they told him to do. I don't blame him. It was those nurses that caused the whole incident from beginning to end. None of them could seem to realize that all I was ever trying to do was leave peacefully. I was in the ER for a reason. Did they expect me to walk home? This was all kinds of wrong. Castle has gone way downhill. P.S. There were witnesses.

It's smaller that big brothers Queens, Straub or Kaiser but from what I've heard, people appreciate the service they were provided. Clean, pretty easy to maneuver, as you enter the main doors, a dedicated information desk manned by dedicated volunteers can help you get to where you need to go. But of course on a visit I focused on the dining options and I have to say the food was pretty good, just a simple scrambled eggs, rice and corned beef hash (canned) and a taste of their fried rice. All enough to satisfy a mornings craving for sure. Not spectacular, but satisfying. Service, like the rest of the hospital seems to be friendly, helpful and efficient. It shows in the way the employees interact with each other. Normally one does not specifically target to visit a hospital for their cafeteria offerings. This is not the case either. But if you are at this hospital on business and are hungry or thirsty, their cafeteria called the Bistro is definitely a resonable option.

Last year in April of 2024 I sought help for some pain I was experiencing, I went and listened to Dr. Son explaining in detail of of what he hoped to accomplish with me and my challenging problems. I paid a whopping $12200 out of pocket for my upper back are ($1500), right knee ($1500), and my upper arms at ($1500). My lower back at $6750.00. The figures are as best that I can remember. Treatment consisted of taking huge 350 vials of blood and spinning them centrifugally and inserting them back into my body. Sometimes it was one or two, and sometimes 3. I got extremely dizzy after this and sometimes had to wait awhile until my body recovered until I felt better. There was one incident that I recall where they reinjected stem cells into my lower back and that was excruciating. I cried out in pain. During these visits sometimes it was done by Dr. Son (who is not an MD) but a chiropractor. There were two visits that I met a Dr. Charles Arakaki and the next time there was a doctor named Dr. Carlos Fernandez. Funny that I never saw them again. ALL OF THE TREATMENTS DID NOT WORK, I COMPLETED THE EXERCISES TO A T AND ALL FAILED!! At that point I stopped going, no sense in wasting my time as well as endure more pain. I went to my regular pain doctor and he immediately scheduled a procedure for me for the next day and I have been pain free for about 3 1/2 weeks. I later e mailed Dr. Son asking for my money back. He called me yesterday and said that he was unable to do so because of the paperwork that I signed. He went on and on to say that he complied with the intent of the scope of the immediate paperwork and could not refund me. I feel TAKEN advantage of. I am soon to be 74 years of age, gave him a big chunk of my money with NO PROMISED RESULTS. If anyone here who has had a similar issue with NexGen maybe we can all ge together and file a class action lawsuit. Hit me up and we'll discuss.

This review is for my experience with the Family Birth Center and the postpartum recovery center…read moreafterwards. The doctors, nurses, CNA's and other staff helped make my birth experience go as smoothly as possible. They were all professional, compassionate, and gave me 5-star worthy care. My favorite part was our celebratory meal we got to enjoy on the second night of our stay. I was fortunate enough to be on my way home after only 2 nights. The reason for deducting 1 star is because my discharge experience could've gone better. We went from 2 blissful days of feeling taken care of and pampered, to feeling like we were being rushed to move out. An older Asian lady (not sure what her role is at Kapiolani but I know she definitely wasn't a nurse) came into our room and started basically telling us it's time to get ready to go. She asked my husband where our car seat was. We explained to her, per the instructions from our RN that was last taking care of us, we were waiting for the pharmacy to call to let us know my prescription was ready, then my husband will grab the car seat on the way to the pharmacy. Then we would have someone from their staff ensure that we buckled baby in correctly, and then proceed with discharge. This lady started yapping and bossing my husband around, telling him to bring the car around up front and we'll all walk out together. She then proceeded to call the pharmacy to basically tell them to hurry up and fill my prescription. Her presence caused me unnecessary stress. We felt like we were being hurried to clear out the room. On top of that, I was not offered a wheelchair to our car. I had to walk, 2 days postpartum, freshly stitched up and sore, to our car parked in front at guest drop off. Despite this experience I'm not letting it overshadow my overall experience at Kapiolani. The nurses were so sweet and supportive and made me feel like a rock star first time mom after I gave birth to my daughter in just 11 hours. I left feedback for kapiolani and I do hope they take steps to improve their discharge process for future patients.

The Center had its origin thanks to its namesake, Queen Kapiolani, who started a maternity home in 1890. Kapiolani had no children of her own, but left a legacy of devotion to education and health care for women and children. The Center is comprised of a hospital with emergency room capabilities. A clinic with full time physician oversight also operates at the center. The staff at Kapiolani Medical Center is aloha friendly. My daughter had her baby at Kapiolani, where she received good prenatal and delivery care. The Center is currently fundraising to raise money to support growth. I attended parts of the fundraiser, which was a heart warming experience. The facilities are a mishmash of architectural styles mostly from the 1980's. There is modest colorful art throughout the complex. The dining room on the second floor hosts a decent cafeteria and a Starbucks. The hospital is immaculate inside. The hospital is also a teaching hospital in partnership with the medical school at the University of Hawaii. Today, I also had lunch in the Kobayashi & Kosasa Dining Room. A big bowl of soup was only $4! I had broccoli cheese soup, which was healthier than your average soup, made with noticeably less salt. I loved my soup. The cafeteria offers an interesting menu of Hawaiian traditional meals, craft pizzas, salads and more. They offer valet parking, because finding your own parking is near impossible. There is a parking garage somewhere on site, but I'm not sure where.
