My favorite comfy, fall-to-sleep-watching-TV couch finally gave way (weigh!) to years of abuse from…read moremy habit of using it as a bed. The frame collapsed and the springs, sprung, to the point that there was just a large hole left in the center of the couch, which probably contained preserved remnants of TV Dinners as well as multiple lost cat toys. Jimmy Hoffa may have ended up in there too, but I wasn't brave enough to stick my hand down in it to find out. Other than the planet-sized, devouring Black Hole in the middle of the couch, it was still in pretty good condition. I hated the idea of having to buy a new couch, as well as the fact that the matching furniture was in good condition. I drive by Soft Touch multiple times a day, but wasn't sure if they did repair work like what my couch needed, or if it would be too expensive to bother repairing. Turns out the folks there were super friendly and gave me an up-front estimate of about $300 for the repair. I gave the OK to fix it, as a new replacement for the couch was about $1200 - $1500. I left the couch and in less than a week - Boom!, they called saying it was finished. I picked the couch up and learned they had replaced the main beam which had broken, with a much more stout piece of wood. It should be good for another 10 years of couch-surfing if the cats don't destroy it. I am really happy because I just love my old, comfy couch. I'm not an easy guy to please service wise, but the folks at Soft Touch Furniture really aced this repair. I bought myself a new tool box with the money saved over buying new and repairing it kept the old couch out of a landfill, saving the environment a bit as an added bonus. Sadly, still no word about Hoffa being found, but perhaps like the moldy TV dinner trays, the good folks at Soft Touch just took care of the problem discreetly. My cats however, are convinced their old toys are still hidden in the couch, somewhere, and have no interest in hearing my assurances to the contrary. Their search continues. . .

This review is for the plumbing services and not the actual store. . …read more Unfortunately, I hired a plumber from a poor recommendation, from someone who must have hated me. I used the plumbing services and ended up losing money and feeling very angry! I originally called to have some shower work done; they did not do it properly and ended up breaking my toilet and not being able to fix it. Yes, I did say, I called about shower work. One may also ask, but they are plumbers, they broke your toilet and couldn't fix it. YESI that is true. I will spare you all the gory details about them coming to my house four times and not being able to fix something they broke, also taking off work because no one works past 4 pm on a weekday... I will spare you the details of the unprofessionalism of them littering on my lawn, overcharging me for a five dollar shower head. Stealing my other shower head and wearing muddy shoes on my beige carpet. YES!!! I wouldn't hire them if they were the only people on earth and I literally had shit coming out of every pipe in my house. I also then had to take yet another day off work, hire another plumber to come and fix all the work they couldn't and messed up! Thanks!!!

I have to give a shout out to this locally owned and operated hardware store. I can't believe I…read morehaven't reviewed it yet actually. Better late than never I guess. This store has been around for as long as I can remember and I grew up here. You will find most everything you need but it does not compare to the big chain outlets such as Lowes or Home depot. I have been there in a pinch when doing various home repairs and they have come through. The guys who work there are very helpful and it's uncommon to find a group of old guys sitting in the front of the store shooting the breeze about the old days. Adds to the uniqueness if you ask me. Reminds me of when I was kid and would go here with my Dad. There were old guys sitting around chatting back then too. They offer various in house services such as plumbing, electrical and appliance repairs. They have folks on staff that will come to your house to make repairs if needed. I will admit that the prices are a bit higher but I am willing to pay since it is only a few blocks away from my house and it helps keep the locally owned places around.
