There...I've put it out there...BIG call I know...but the delicious soup inside the Baos on offer at Ping's is just divine and the best thing is that the soup never seems to be wasted because the parcel / skin is just the right thickness! Let's face it...we've all experienced the devastation of carefully trying to pick these Baos up from the bamboo steamers only to watch the soup drain away because we've punctured the parcel! Well....NO MORE! Other must haves at Ping's include the Pan Fried Dumplings (both pork and beef)....Shanghai Fried Noodles....and Mapo Tofu!! Ping's....Woh-Ai-Ni!!

If you are yet to discover the delicious food to be had in the multicultural area of Clayton then you are missing out. I used to teach in the area and would love to duck out at lunch time and grab some delicious authentic cuisines. I am sad that I have only just found Ping's! We came on a recommendation and were not disappointed, the dumpling were just as good as the ones found in your fave places in China town. I enjoyed the duck dumplings, fried rice and the amazing pumpkin cakes. The service was quick and efficient and the decor was cheap and cheerful! A very inexpensive night out!

While it wasn't high end, it's certainly got a nice, modern vibe to it and good food. Parking is quite problematic in the area, but getting a table here isn't. They sit you down and only give half of the table a menu. It's quite an extensive menu, so really everyone needs their own. Admittedly, as a fairly non adventurous eater, the menu is a little scary with items like duck blood this and bullfrog that. But the meals we all got were quite good. The food came out fast and everything tasted nice. I've certainly had a better meal at other Chinese restaurants before, but this was ok for sure if you're in the area. I think the food is reasonably priced - with or without the Entertainment Book - and the service was efficient and friendly enough. With so much to choose from and a good amount of seating and tasty fare, I'd recommend Modu if you find yourself in this part of town.

I tried to order a glass of cold milk to wash away some of the spicy peppery taste instead of gulping down glasses of free water which barely does the job to remove the spicy taste (authentic). I felt there is an unrealised $$$ opportunity for restaurants / food courts that sell spicy food like Chinese Sze Chuan / Indian Curry / Hotpot to create a better customer experience for the benefits of all stakeholders by selling cold milk - although milk tends to spoil quickly thus its likely you will only find cold milk served in high end establishments e.g. hotels. Would small individual long shelf life milk packets do the trick of removing spiciness? This will be valuable especially in Western countries for people of all demographics who are not used to taking spicy food. Think about the benefits worldwide and at MoDu Clayton restaurant. First Visit: Restaurant Name: Modu Clayton Chinese Restaurant Unique Dish: Duck Blood Noodles. Food: Good Portion size. Service: Servers are well presented, smiling & polite. Came quickly to use when we raised our hands for service. Atmosphere: Well decorated & Clean. Toilet is clean. Great Music at the right volume. Price: Value for $$$ - Braised Beef Rice I give it 5 / 5 stars. I highly recommend you to bring your family, colleagues and friends there this week. Thank you. :) Best regards, Jianfa Ben Tsai 30 years of Restaurant Dining Experience Managed Food Business Worked at 5 Star Hotels

Slight crunch on the exterior, juicy and mush inside with QQ generous octopus portions fresh from the ocean. Served at the right temperature. The Matcha Latte is a killer - Their green tea comes with different permutations of flavours. Their ~8 types of ice cream is immaculately presented. Must try next time. The special pastry is not the well colour balanced pretty cakes but the well sized cream puffs (my personal favourite). Thats next in my scope. Great Deal: $7 Coffee & Croissant combo is a steal. Love the Pink flower shaped Mayo sauce dish when you order deep fried chicken. Ordered croissant served with chic themed designer plates and cutleries. Waiter pro-actively provided table serviced tap water even if you just order a cup of latte. Latte is tasty and full bodied. Barista took care with professional skill to create designer design on latte face. Coffee is so good, I went there both morning and afternoon for two cuppa. I recommend getting the coffee rewards card. Service: Authentic Jap waiters and kitchen staff are well presented, smiling & polite. Came quickly to us when we raised our hands for service. ありがとう Atmosphere: Well decorated & Clean. Temperature is Climate Controlled. Toilet is clean to Japan standard except missing auto toilet seat lift and auto water jet spray bum wash. Comfy cushion seats at the dining area. It will be fantastic if the cafe play low volume of Popular Japanese Pop / Love songs for a Japanese Dining Experience. Crowd: Generally young students and Japanese / Korean females dining. Great for dating. Place is packed full of people eating and queuing thus the food must be good. The food turnover rate is high thus the food must be fresh. Price: Value for $$$ I give it 5 / 5 stars. I highly recommend you to bring your family, colleagues and friends there this week for a pleasant gastronomic experience. :) Best regards, Jianfa Ben Tsai Fat Guy with 35 years of Restaurant Dining Experience Managed Food Business Worked at 5 Star Hotels
