This restaurant is tiny, but the food is mighty. The building is nondescript and understated, but when you enter, you discover the food is the star. Chef and owner Luis offers a very diverse menu and if you want something that's not on the menu, Luis will accommodate. Luis loves to cook and it is proven by the delicious food which he serves. The cheese enchiladas are on point and there is no chance of going hungry with the generous portions. Definitely experience this hidden gem. read more

The food was amazing! This is a bit of a "diamond in the rough" restaurant but once you are in the doors it is ALL 10/10! The owner greeted us, joked and made us feel welcome. The food was EXCELLENT! Don't judge a book by its cover. Hubcap-size pancakes, the "full breakfast" served on a tray...my omelet lasted three meals. The chef came out to take our order: "You ready to eat? Im ready to cook! What's it gonna be?" It's a beautiful thing, don't miss it! read more

Real deal Mexican food here... the owner tells you when you come in "if it's not on the menu, and I have the ingredients, I'll make it!" And- he's being completely honest. The food is fresh, homemade, and beyond reasonably priced for the portions. DO NOT WAIT to try it. read more

Don't let the facility deter you, the food here is amazing! The place doesn't look like much, as a matter of fact we thought the place was closed. So glad we checked because my chicken enchilada plate was the best enchiladas I've ever had. This is a tiny place but prices are very reasonable and portions are huge. And the menu is just a suggestion... don't see something on the menu you'd like? Just ask and if they have the inbred they will make it for you. Oh and the staff, very friendly. It took a while for our food to come but that's only because everything is made to order. read more

Don't let the outside deter you from coming in. It's definitely a hole in the wall, but this quaint place is filled with delicious food. The servings are large so if you decide to order an entree or two, it might be worth sharing. We ordered two entrees to split between three people and oh, my we were full within minutes and couldn't finish the food! We took half the food to go. The owners are so friendly and nice--we enjoyed our conversation with them. They are a hard working couple and thoroughly enjoy filling bellies and doing it with a smile. If I'm ever in Snyder again, I'd definitely come back here and would recommend this place to anyone visiting or in the area. It's a mom and pop shop and you won't be disappointed. read more

Had seen this place on an Instagram post from one of the folks that road trip around Texas. Anyway, so happy I bookmarked Ponderosa for when we unexpectedly might drive through Snyder. At first glance, you might think, oh my, let's find somewhere else. Please don't let the looks fool you. I promise it'll be worth the it!! Service was so personable, it was as if we had been there a dozen times. We had the club sandwich, and it was no little sammich! We have been here now for dinner and for breakfast. excellent. The portions are very large, and worth the higher than average prices. This isn't your old "combination #1" Mexican place. Enormous hamburger and fresh cut fries were good. Burger was quite well done for our taste, but I am certain he would cook less of house asked. Al pastor, barabacoa, tamales, all are among the best I've had on the road. Tamales tender and not skimpy on meat .... pastor and barbacoa cooked fresh, tender, moist, and lots of flavor. Breakfast was breakfast foods done well. Large eggs, the bacon was good quality and not tissue thin. The pancakes were the size of a dinner plate. All served on a 14" platter on a lazy susan. You HAVE to get these tender, mild pancakes. Just butter or butter and syrup. Fresh grated hashbrowns potatoes. The menu is a guideline ... the owner-cook will make the meal you want. If he has it, he'll serve it however you want it. It makes having a satisfying meal easy, and he cooks very, very well. If it is slow, the owner will come chat you up. We'll be back. read more

Well, I trusted Yelp, otherwise based on the exterior, we would not have stopped. It looks like the office for a run down motel, but they welcomed us in and we sat down. It took us a few minutes to decide what to order, so Chef Luis came out to the table. He said simply, "What do you have a taste for? Unlike your house, you're the boss in this kitchen! I'll make you anything you want!", and he did! I had the Carne Asada Plate, which was true skirt steak nicely marinated and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately it was far more than I could eat, and I eat a good deal. Everything was great and they could not have been more hospitable. Great Place! read more

Not sure what the hype is about. Me and my dad stopped in after a day of fishing around 6 o'clock. We were the only people there besides two other people. Took forever to get a drink. Took forever to order. Asked for a side of guacamole for the fajitas and was given a huge dish of guacamole and charged $13 for it. Like what? The rice was such a dark brown and so over cooked and sticky. Chicken fajitas were meh. Beef fajitas were so tough if wasn't worth the time eating them. To top it off we both got sick for $63. Excellent! Driving home from the horse races from Ruidoso to Fort Worth and looked to Yelp for a decent lunch at 2pm on Sunday. Saw that this was the only place in Snyder with 5 stars so there was no debate. Parked, walked in and had some doubt. There was no customers eating and the owners were having lunch. The place doesn't look like much, but let me tell you about the food... Service from arrival to exit was great! Ordered the New Mexico burger with an iced tea. Tea cup was never empty. The burger was made from scratch and well worth the wait. Didn't think of a picture till it was too late, but it was a burger worthy of praise and came very well presented on the plate. This place belongs one one of those food network shows (I'm talking to you, Guy Fieri!) Hole in the wall, greasy spoon, whatever you want to call it, this is probably the best Snyder has to offer. If you can get past the location & outside aesthetics, you've walked into a gem. The best burritos, burgers & breakfast spreads around! Everything I've tried has been amazeballs. Everything is made from scratch, made to order. Be ready to split 1 order with 2 people if you are health conscious. Big portions that don't sacrifice for taste. The chef, Luis is a neat guy, fun to visit with. You can park 1, maybe 2 trucks across US 180. Don't miss this one! read more

The owner is so hospitable and encouraged us to order whatever we wanted. He stated that the menu is simply a "suggestion"! The interior is clean and well maintained with friendly service. The large dining area consists of booths, tables, and a couple of bar areas with stool seating. The menu is simple and well organized. In addition to pizza and pastas, there are also sandwiches and burgers. They serve Pepsi products at Bigg's. I ordered a small supreme with a drink. There is a self-service drink fountain with Pepsi products and iced tea. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and was delicious. Overall I recommend Bigg's Pizza & Grill and will definitely consider stopping by the next time I am going through Colorado City!

The service has been hit or miss throughout the years but mostly they have done a great job taking care of us. I do love the varied table and booth seating that can fit large groups in here and they have a party room in the back. I love their daily specials and how much the community comes here for a meal. It's a great spot to go to for your pizza needs.

Really killed the $180 crab leg appetizer. I got the fettuccine with chicken, another got the ribeye MR, another got some other beef dish. Ribeye was rare, but they were happy to put it back on the heat for a bit. Meal wasn't bad. Wasn't worth what it cost. Pasta and steaks are better elsewhere in town for the same price. Was really unhappy with the 20% service charge added for our party of three. $600 to feed three with ok food. Pretty sure the service charge is to guilt you into tipping more. Second time I've been here in the last 12 months. This time was actually better than the first where the waiter dumped steak grease down my back and then dropped a pile of mashed potatoes on my keys. Rays down the street is just as good but more of a diner feel.

Took too long to get a waiter & this is the first time we didn't get after desert & drinks after the meal. Almost didn't take what was left to our dog it was so flavorless. Just yuk. Do better. Won't be back for awhile! Also, Chiltons are made with lemon, not lime. The drink originated in Lubbock, it's not that hard.

I have visited Ponderosa several times and Luis the owner and cook makes you feel right at home. I get that same warm feeling I used to get when I would walk into my grandmother's kitchen when her way of welcoming you was to sit you down at the table with a large plate full of food. Luis brings your plate right to your table and will even visit with you for a few moments if time permits. He will fix anything you desire as the back of his menus state "It's not what's on the menu, it's what you want," rings very true. Portions are very generous so if you walk away hungry it's no one's fault but your own. Luis takes pride in his food and service and will make anything right. So make sure to stop in and expect that feeling of down home comfort at the table we have all felt in our younger years. read more
