How do you repay someone who has restored you? I had a quadriceps tendon rupture in 2017. I had surgery with a different doctor in a different surgery group. The surgery to repair my damaged tendon failed, for whatever reason. That doctor told me that he could perform another surgery; but, he did not think it would do much good since my knee was so deteriorated ( I am in my early 50's, by the way). I spent the next year and a half of my life being unable to run, climb stairs, jump, and many other things most take for granted. After a depressing day in which I could not even catch up to a slowly rolling basketball to retrieve for my kids, I decided to go to my family doctor. He recommended that I get a second opinion and suggested Dr. Jay Pond, but he said I would have to wait because often, the great surgeons are booked up for weeks, even months. I followed his advice and to make the story short, I had a second surgery done around a year and a half after the first one. Everything went so smoothly and 2 and 1/2 months after having the operation, I can already see the progress. My PT is going very well and I can do things that I could not do after the first surgery, such as lock out my leg dead straight. Dr. Pond said I would lose some of my knee flexion as a result of this long ordeal but was hopeful that I would be much improved. Once again, he has proven to be a bit of a soothsayer and was correct. PT seems to be helping and I have made great gains in the two weeks that I have been going, so maybe I won't lose too much. I had a slight misstep a couple of weeks ago when I had removed my brace and the repair seems strong and unaffected, with no pain, giving my great confidence. So, I wrap this up to say that I will be forever in debt to this man for fixing my knee. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and obviously skilled. In talking with different personnel at the PT clinics I have attended, he appears to be well-known in the area. I wish I would have had him for my original surgery but I can't go back in time. At least now, I am encouraged and full of hope. I could never repay this man for what he has given back to me. read more
