Voinovich Bicentennial Park sits right along Lake Erie, offering stunning panoramic views of the water. On a clear day, you're actually facing Canada, which lies just across the lake--how cool is that? Out in the water, there's a long rock barrier (part of the harbor breakwall system) that adds a coastal, serene feel to the entire landscape. When I visited, there was a live opera performance happening right in the park, which made the experience feel even more special. You can sit on the grass or along the cement steps, which makes it a great spot for a picnic, sunset-watching, or just relaxing near the water. There are often events held here, so it's worth checking the schedule if you're visiting--though honestly, just showing up might surprise you with something fun. The atmosphere is open and vibrant, but still calm and clean. You'll also find: * Boat rentals nearby if you want to get on the water * Restaurants right along the shore * Hotels with waterfront views, all within walking distance The park itself is well-maintained, clean, and has lots of visual interest, including ships docked nearby and big open views of the lake and sky. I visited in the evening, and the sunset over the water was absolutely breathtaking--a perfect end to the day. I can't wait to come back and spend more time here. The instructor had the drills lesson at Roxboro tennis courts so I had no choice but to drive out here which was fine with me. It was a group session with two other people in the session plus the instructor for a total of 4 of us. The instructor, Omar, is wonderful. I met him through CSU tennis at the Medical Mutual tennis tent in downtown Cleveland. He is patient and kind. He played tennis when he was a student at CSU and still plays tennis now that he has graduated and begun his full time non-tennis related job. I had fun during tennis drills at Roxboro Tennis Courts (4/5 rating). THE TENNIS COURTS (3/5 rating) -- The nets and hard court floor conditions can be better. The Roxboro Tennis Courts are secluded unless you live in the neighbourhood. It is located in Cleveland Heights next to a middle school football field. The tennis courts are on the grounds of Roxboro Middle School but they are public courts open to use for free. The conditions of the 3 available courts are fine. During my August 2025 visit, I noticed one of the court nets was falling apart in the middle. The hard court wasn't as firm but I was able to play tennis fine. Compared to Burnham Mall park down the street, this park has alot more trees at the center of it which provides generous shade against the sun. The "FREE STAMP" here is cool and a nice structure to see. I love the pink colour that the word "FREE" is written on. This is apparently the largest rubber stamp in Cleveland...haha. It would have being nice if the City erected a plaque right next to the stamp that describes it. For a great view of Lake Erie, walk straight ahead on East 9th street until you reach Voinovich Bicentennial Park. I bought their 2-week class pass deal ($49) in early August 2026 which allowed me to take as many classes as I could during the 2 week period. The deal was good because one class alone is $28. Unfortunately, I was only able to take 9 classes in that 2 week period due to my schedule but also and mostly due to many classes being filled up (full). PRICING -- Definitely not cheap. -- 1 class is $28 (drop-in) -- An unlimited class package is $189 per month -- 8 class per month is $139 -- 5 classes per month is $118 (breaks down to $23 a class) -- 10 class pack is $210 per month All their classes are outstanding along with the instructors. The classes that I have taken so far are Power Sculpt, lower body (weights class), upper body (weights class), heated melt flow (a yoga class), and a mat pilates class. My favourite instructors are Gia and Laura. Miranda is also good but she actually just moved to San Diego, California. The only issue is that because Energi is very popular, the classes fill up very quickly. Class booking opens up about 1-week in advance but even then, most classes will be full with some waitlist spots open. I have been meaning to take the Burn Camp class offered on Saturdays and the Core & Stretch class offered on Sundays but I haven't been able to due partly to the classes being filled up but also because the one weekend during my 2-week trial, I was out of town. I've also been meaning to take instructor Lexy and Melanie's classes but I haven't been able to yet because classes are almost always full or the waitlist is full. Nonetheless, the classes that I've been able to attend have been fantastic. I highly recommend Energi if you are looking for a fun and effective fitness studio. I am a BIG fan of the entire Northeast Ohio Metro Parks system... BIG, BIG FAN…read more The only thing I have seen that is comparable is the "Nature Center at Shaker Lakes". This location is beautiful. The folks that manage it are committed to returning it to it's original wild beauty. They are in the midst of a large project to remove all the invasive species and replant with everything native to the area. So far they have done a marvelous job. I can't even imagine the cost involved. They are taking donations if you want to help. There is a large marsh area you can walk through on raised walkways and see all the work going on. There is another very large wooded area with nicely marked and maintained trails you can stroll through and just enjoy the beauty of the natural habitat. The main lodge is a very nice facility with plenty of room for children to play and classrooms for education. I highly recommend you take a sunny day and visit the "Nature Center at Shaker Lakes". See for yourself. It's a worthwhile project.

If you've driven nearby The Flats, you've seen this park…read more Over the last few years, more amenities have popped up nearby, including the Downtown Dog Park and newer paved walking paths. You can find this park around Old River Road and West St Clair near the RTA stop literally called Settler's Landing. There's a mid-size fountain in the middle of the area overlooking the river and The Flats East Bank and its walkable enough distance to The Flats West Bank (might seem a bit far though if you're not prepared). This is a wonderful place to watch the sunset! The views over the Cuyahoga River are always beautiful in the summer. The Downtown Cleveland Alliance Clean & Safe Ambassadors do a wonderful job keeping this park tidy, welcoming and neatly landscaped. I love taking walks with my friends and their dogs and bumping into other people and dogs along the way. It's such a cute area. Just be cautious at night as you would in any urban park in the city.
