We Stayed here two night Precruise with our kids and grandkids…read more My daughter upgraded us with her status so we ended up with a gorgeous balcony room- floor to ceiling windows and we were able to watch a fireworks show the first night. The status match actually got us free breakfast, thank goodness, As it was $37 pp plus tip for breakfast. I will say, though, it was an excellent breakfast spread. And the first morning included Huevo rancheros with Cotija cheese, the usual scrambled eggs, and a variety of breakfast meats and potatoes, as well as as they have an omelette station and a lot of variety of fruits, deli meats, pastries, oatmeal, and toppings. There really is quite a big selection here. Service was excellent as well. We had a king room with a balcony with the most amazing view of downtown- the bathroom had a huge marble, shower and philosophy, products for shampoo, lotion, etc. There is also a nice bar on the first floor that has food and drink and a decent wine selection as well as sports playing on the TV so we were able to catch a couple of NCAA women's champ games We did spend an afternoon at the pool, it is a decent size with a good number of loungers. There is a counter you can go to to order drinks and food, but it was odd. There was only one person working at this counter so when they disappeared to go pick up food, a lot of people were waiting. This is an interesting set up for such a nice hotel. I will say you are in a very walkable area with tons of restaurants and shops in the vicinity so take your time to familiarize yourself. We went to Motek tonight for some wonderful Israeli food and it was fantastic. If you want, cheap eats, there is a Pollo tropical around the corner. It was very late when we arrived and we just wanted some grilled chicken and this hit the spot for about 13 bucks. Well, it's not the most convenient area to the cruise port, it is very nice here and much quieter than the Biscayne Bay area, so definitely an up level if you like Staff have been very friendly and accommodating as well

Our doggie had a great stay too. We will be back again :)

Our room was nice and offered lovely views of the nearby downtown Miami. We chose to stay here instead of downtown due to the fact that we simply do not like it. We were pleasantly surprised with the Coral Gables area. The pool area was nice, though we weren't able to enjoy due to the rain. The gym offers a variety of different machines and allows you to get a proper workout in while traveling. The hotel offers multiple restaurants, but we enjoyed the Americana Cafe very much. It was our anniversary and they gave us free champagne to cheers with and treated us like royalty. We will definitely be back!

This was a great plan as I was able to have the front desk hold our bags all day while we lounged by the pool. The pool area was great with an infinity pool, hot tub, and a rooftop view of the Miami skyline. Our cabana came with 4 lounge chairs outside the cabana, and inside had a full size couch, comfy chair, small table, a TV with live channels as well as hotel movie/show offerings, a large countertop with a small fridge stocked with non-alcoholic beverages, a safe, and some storage. All the drinks in the fridge were complimentary plus we also received a large and beautiful fruit plate as well as an order of fresh made chips and guac. When I arrived, I thought the staff might be a little cold to us since we weren't actually overnight guests, but it was quite the opposite. The concierge made sure our bags got taken back to storage while we got our key cards from the desk to be able to access the pool area and use the elevators. Then he gave us a lay of the land and everything we needed to know for the day. I spoke to him that evening before we left and we has fantastic. It was the nicest weather day in a while so the pool was busy, having access to shade and our own chairs was a perfect and relaxing way to end our vacation. We also ordered a burger and fries aside from the included food and it was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our day of relaxation and were even able to grab a quick shower and change before heading to the airport for out 10pm flight. I believe we payed $300 for the cabana for the day plus a $50 fee to Resort Pass and it was well worth it for the convenience. I would absolutely do it again. With that being said, there were a couple things that were more of just annoyances, but didn't spoil the experience, but I feel could easily be corrected. It's a bit nitpicky, but this is a very high end and rather expensive hotel/experience so I'll share them. One was that there are two cabanas with 8 chairs between them... 4 for each as you're allowed up to 4 guests. I did have a friend that was going to stop by, but she didn't make it. Either way, there were multiple times that hotel guests came looking for open chairs and one couple ended up sitting in our chairs for a bit. Yes, we were only two people but we were initially using the two chairs further from the cabana because they were in the sun. Now we had a couple sitting right next to me on my couch getting work done on their laptop. The staff didn't notice so we had to go over to the bar and let someone know before they asked them to move. Shortly after, another couple came and took a set of chairs from the other cabana. Staff came over to let them know that the area was reserved and the couple insisted that if nobody was using them then they should be able to sit there. The couple from the other cabana then offered up the chairs, probably because they felt guilty since the couple was already sitting there. In that situation, the staff should not have allowed the guests to feel that way, you pay good money for the space and it's supposed to be somewhat private as it's set back from the rest of the chairs at the pool. All day we felt like we had to put stuff on our chairs to defend them when we paid to have them for the day. An easy fix to this would be a small sign saying that the cabanas are reserved on the way over to that area. Nobody wants to get up after they've found a seat and it puts everyone in an awkward situation. Another small thing was that it was early when we arrived... around 10:30am so I walked downstairs and went across the street for a couple coffees. When one of the servers came by to ask if we wanted our complimentary snacks yet, I said after I have coffee we will order closer to lunch time. He then politely reminded me that it was no big deal, but there was not outside food or drink allowed at the pool. That's not a problem, but everyone around the pool in the morning had coffees. The the cabana next to us had sandwiches from Sanguich and other people had whole bags of food throughout the day so if it's not a policy you enforce, why make me feel like an idiot for bringing in a coffee. They actually seemed very eager to get us to order our snacks and were confused that we wanted to not have them at the same time. Once we finished with the snacks and were finished with lunch, they never really came back to check on us. It was like getting the snacks fulfilled their obligation to the cabana or something. We were there for 9 hours and planning to have some afternoon cocktails, but decided to skip it since nobody came by for probably the last 4 hours of our visit. Sorry for the rant, just felt like sharing those things because they were a little off putting, but honestly the day was amazing and we had a great time.

Miami Biltmore Hotel is a historic place . A little history…read more: The hotel was designed by Schultze and Weaver and built in 1926 by John McEntee Bowman and George Merrick as part of the Biltmore hotel chain. The hotel's tower is inspired by the Giralda, the medieval tower of the cathedral of Seville Spain. When completed in 1926, the Biltmore became the tallest building in Florida at 315 feet holding the record as Florida's tallest building until 1928 when the Dade County Courthouse was built. At one time, the pool was the largest pool in the world and employed swimming instructor (and later Tarzan actor) Johnny Weissmuller. It served as a hospital during World War II and as a Veterans Administration Hospital and campus of the University of Miami medical school until 1968. The hotel was then abandoned for many years before again restoring operations as a hotel in 1987. In 1986, Miami Biltmore Hotel was designated a National Historic Landmark. In 1925, land developer George E. Merrick joined forces with Bowman-Biltmore Hotels president John McEntee Bowman at the height of the Florida land boom to build "a great hotel...which would not only serve as a hostelry to the crowds which were thronging to Coral Gables but also would serve as a center of sports and fashion." In January 1926, after ten months of construction at a cost of $10 million, the hotel opened and visitors included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Al Capone, and assorted Roosevelts and Vanderbilts as frequent guests. Franklin D. Roosevelt had a temporary White House office set up at the Hotel when he vacationed in Miami. Several months after the hotel opened, on September 18, the 1926 Miami Hurricane struck. While the hotel was undamaged, providing shelter for over 2000 survivors, the disaster signaled the end of the Florida land boom. Merrick's Coral Gables company declared bankruptcy on April 13, 1929, and Merrick's stake in the hotel was bought out by his partner, John McEntee Bowman in November 1929 for $2.1 million.Bowman resold the hotel in September 1931 to millionaire Henry Latham Doherty. A large part of the hotel's revenue in the 1930s came from aquatic galas. As many as 3,000 people would come out to watch the synchronized swimmers, bathing beauties, and alligator wrestling. Johnny Weissmuller, before he was known for his role in Tarzan, broke a world record at the pool. With the onset of World War II, the War Department took over the hotel, converting it to a 1200-bed hospital in November 1942. The building was transferred to the Army in 1946 and renamed Pratt General Hospital. Many of the windows were sealed with concrete, and the marble floors covered with government-issue linoleum. The hospital was transferred from the Army to the Veterans Administration ,in July 1947. Also the early site of The University of Miami's School of Medicine, Pratt General Hospital remained a VA hospital, with 450 beds, until a newer facility opened nearby in May 1968 and the building was vacated. In 1973, through the Historic Monuments Act and Legacy of Parks program, the City of Coral Gables was granted ownership control. The building remained unoccupied for almost 10 years. Then in 1983, the City oversaw its full restoration to be opened as a grand hotel. It was reopened on December 31, 1987 as a luxury hotel and resort. In June 1992, a multinational consortium led by Seaway Hotels Corporation became the new operators of the hotel under a long term management lease with the City of Coral Gables, and again made extensive refurbishments to the property. New lighting and telephone systems, repairs to the pool, furnishings, a complete guestroom renovation program and spa were completed. In February 2009, the hotel opened the Biltmore Culinary Academy, a recreational hands-on cooking school with classes for adults and children taught by the hotel's chefs. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed the building on its list of "Florida Architecture, 100 Years, 100 Places. The hotel has been used as a setting in various movies and television programs, including Bad Boys, The Specialist, Shock Waves, CSI: Miami, Popi, and Miami Vice. If your into golf The hotel has an 18-hole, par 71, championship course designed by Donald Ross.Reopened in November 2007, following a $5 million investment, the course was restored and updated by Brian Silva. The original 1925 routing was retained, but all greens, tees, and bunkers were reconstructed and grassed to contemporary standards. The property again contracted Silva to provide additional improvements to the golf course in the summer of 2018. The course annually hosts the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship. This Registered Historic Landmark in Coral Gables has been reinvented over the years from a recovery hospital troops during wartime to its present state. It's a historic hotel, so the rooms are probably smaller than you might be used to at a more modern place, but it doesnt take away from the overall experience. From the luxury linens and pillow-top mattresses in the rooms to world-class amenities like lighted makeup mirrors, plush bath robes and slippers, high-speed internet, and upgraded bathroom products, every detail has been considered to bring modern amenities to this historic place. A true highlight of our stay was their Ultimate Sunday Brunch known as one of Miami's finest brunch spots. Brunch includes a Caviar Bar, seafood, sushi, and an array of decadent desserts, alongside traditional carving and breakfast stations. There was way too much to even consider trying it all, but we did our best! Everything was great. The brunch features bottomless bubbly as well, and the servers were quick to refill and assure you were accomdated. The Biltmore is also home to one of the largest hotel pools in the Continental U.S.--a stunning 23,000-square-foot pool that holds 600,000 gallons of water. Once the stage for iconic Esther Williams water shows and celebrity gatherings, the pool now offers a chic and tranquil setting for relaxation or poolside dining with Greek Gods and Goddesses adorning the parameter. The Biltmore Golf Course, an 18-hole, par-71 championship course designed in 1925 and while I'm not a golfer myself it made for a great view from the hotel room and grounds. The Biltmore was the perfect place to stay that had us in walking distance from many shops and restaurants in the Coral Gables area. We would love to be back soon!

On January 24, four women in our 60s and 70s arrived at the Courtyard Marriott Coral Gables for a confirmed reservation booked a month in advance through Marriott's website. We were leaving for a cruise from the Port of Miami the next morning. Instead of checking us in, we were told our room had been CANCELLED that morning because our credit card was "expired." No phone call. No email. No text. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member. There were no rooms available throughout the city due to a marathon. After hours of trying to figure out what to do, the hotel manager called the police on us for "trespassing." Clarida the manager treated us awful. It was a mistake of the hotel not us. Yes -- four, travel-weary, senior women with nowhere to go were escorted out by police and told us we can't stay. Need to go somewhere else for night. The only option was the Miami International Airport. And get this: When I got home, I discovered the hotel had successfully charged my credit card at 5:30AM that same day. No accountability. No empathy. No returned calls from management. I've been leaving voicemails for days. Travelers cruising out of Miami -- be careful where you book. No one should start a vacation like this.

The Manager stated she didn't know if the rooms are being used and the people in charge are off on weekends so she could not find out if they were empty. Renting a Mustang convertible through Avis runs around $200, which beats repeated Ubers to the beach and frankly adds to the experience. 2. There is a dress code at dinner. Pants and no flip flops for guys. The staff make this very clear at check in, so there are no surprises. Now for the hotel itself. The service is genuinely exceptional. I left my phone in the car at the valet and within five minutes it was delivered to my room without me ever asking. That kind of attentiveness is rare and sets the tone for the entire stay. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is warm and professional, and the pool is top tier. Speaking of the pool, the drinks are great and the views can't be beat. You also have access to the beach on 14th street and ocean drive which gives you two chairs, an umbrella and towels. Highly recommend taking advantage of this amenity too. Finally, if you have an Amex Platinum, book through FHR. The complimentary breakfast and pool drink credits make an already incredible stay feel like an even better value.
