I highly recommend Pompa-Do's Salon! My stylist is Naomi. I have been going to see Naomi since 2016 when I first read a recommendation about her skill with cutting hair. Made an appointment and was not disappointed. I have built a relationship with Naomi over the last 4 years and have seen her on a regular basis every 4 weeks. When I describe something of what I'm looking for, she takes the time to discuss it with me and will pull up a picture on her phone to make sure we're talking about the same thing. She takes the time and LISTENS to me and we talk through what that style and/or color may do for me. She is a master at color and so talented. We've gone through a couple of different colors - lately I've been going with a beautiful chestnut that she thought I might like - and yes, I love it! She makes me feel right and home, comfortable and relaxed - always checking in with how I'm doing (am I comfortable / would I like coffee/water/hot chocolate to drink / how's the temperature for me / how am I feeling about (the cut or color), etc.). So very thoughtful and attentive. Color isn't easy to get and Naomi nails it every time. Specifically, the reason I have stayed with Naomi is because she knows how to cut hair. I have fine hair - but a lot of it. It's a hard combination to know how to get right and only ONE other stylist back in Chicago actually knew how to cut my hair - no one else has ever worked magic besides Naomi. She just KNOWS she's going to have to texturize my hair and do extra little things to make sure she gets my hair just right. She never lets me leave the chair unless I am 100% satisfied. Seriously. And I've never left Pompa-Do's without feeling totally glamorous! :) I know Naomi's skills go way beyond what I utilize in my visits with her because I've seen the work she posts online - she does it all. Oh! And the girl's make up is ON POINT every time I go in there. I've asked for advice and tips from her which she happily gives when applying my own. She's up with the latest trends but can also go old school if I ever asked her to - she has her finger on the pulse of what's happening and knows how to put her own twist on it so that you don't feel like "the same haircut walking around that everyone has." She will customize your hair for YOU every single time. Last thing about Pompa Do's is that everyone I have come in contact with at this wonderful salon are so kind, friendly, accommodating, and professional. The prices are very good and reasonable with market standards. The atmosphere is relaxed and pampering and you can feel your worries melt away the moment you step through the front door. I am surprised I am the first one writing a review for Pompa Do's. MELISSA is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am a blonde and it is so hard to find someone that can treat a natural blonde right. I have been going to her for 9 years. WOW I feel old... I was born and raised in Muskegon, moved to East Lansing for college, found work in Grand Rapids shortly after I graduated and now live in Los Angeles, CA. I did try finding a hair stylist in each of these cities with no luck. Believe we when I say I FLY HOME to see MELISSA. She is has always fixed my hair when I messed it up, turned we back to a fabulous blonde when I thought I wanted to be a brunette and always styles my hair beautifully. I have had every hair cut from her ranging from a short pixie cut, to long layers ending 3/4 down my back. She also does my mom's hair, age 50, and two other sisters, ages 21, and 24. They are all brunettes and all have very different taste. All three of them always look fabulous and in style. She has even done ALL FOUR OF US AT ONCE with a smile on her face. For a full foil on THICK, LONG, blonde NATURAL hair, cut, shampoo and style, I have never walked out of there paying more then $140 including tip. ( I tip 20%) She has magical hands and I wish I could take them with me everywhere. I would recommend her to anyone, any hair type and any age. Rochelle (Shelly) was the Licensed Massage Therapist who worked on me today, as I went in today for a massage. She was very friendly, and asked right away what kind of massage I was looking for a relaxing one, or a deep tissue one to work on problem areas. I had several surgeries which caused a lot of knots and tension areas. After listening to me we decided I needed the deep tissue massage on my problem areas, and it was very beneficial. She explained everything as she was doing it and told me to let her know if I found any of it too painful for me to tell her to stop. However, it was very therapeutic, I will be going back in a few weeks to continuing to work on the areas until I can finally get a relaxing massage ;). I wished I had come earlier instead of waiting years. So whatever kind of massage you want relaxing or therapeutic, give her a try, she is easy to talk to, and very professional and pleasant. If you're looking for a top-notch hair salon I highly recommend you go to Pompa-Do's. Every stylist I have had the pleasure of cutting my hair has done such a good job. Tracy however is my go to lady now and she is AMAZING. No matter what color or style I have asked for over the past two years she did it and I always left super excited about my new look. She knows what colors look good with my skin and always does such a wonderful job. I went from short hair to long hair and she made the cut look good at every length. She is really good at blending the color so it's looks natural too! I have never found someone who can make my hair blonde without it looking orange or yellow right away or turning yellow within a month or two. Tracy gives me the ashy natural blonde look every time and the only reason I have to go in a few months later is because I need to get my roots touched up or a trim. I've been searching for a place like this! Since my local (Grand Rapids) oasis burned down and was not rebuilt, I have been on the look-out for a salon that offered the same amenities with the ambiance of a TRUE spa. I did NOT want to simply be put into a room off the main hairstyling area to "relax" and have a massage or facial. I was looking for a total experience - the robe, slippers, privacy, pampering. And all at a decent price. I was beginning to think this was too much to ask for in West Michigan until now! Pompa-Dos was nothing but top notch. Services were excellent (tub soak is divine!), the personnel are wonderfully attentive AND talented, and it was an environment I did not want to leave. Very impressed with my first trip to this salon based only in older yelp reviews. Needed a highlight and cut, and Aleeschia didn't disappoint! As someone who has been getting highlights for a while, I always have to worry about hair being over processed, too bright, or foiled in a way that you end up with symmetrical streaks in your ponytail. Not here! She did a wonderful job and was very thorough! My cut is also wonderful. Wanted to wait a few days before writing a review to make sure I still like it! I do! First time visit and LOVED this place! This place is very cute inside. The Staff is welcoming and friendly. I had my hair done by Tracy who did an Fantastic job. I am very picky with my hair with it being fine, as well as being educated in the cosmetology field. I was super pleased. She got my hair exactly how I wanted it! On top of that as it being my first visit Tracy offered to give me A tour if I was interested. Of course I wanted to see!
