I love exploring the individual artists tents/ booths which showcase everything from modern art to folk art and hand knit hats. I bought some great jewelry pieces. It is wonderful to have that one of a kind piece handmade by artisans. I also purchased some gorgeous hand blown glass pieces at an excellent value. This year I spent a good deal of time just wandering around enjoying the live music, the birds of prey exhibit, the delicious food and snow cones! Wine & beer were also available for those who wanted to enjoy them. I try to go every year as it now signals me that summer is coming to an end and the leaves are turning beneath the Rock. They've got a radio station that syncs the music up with the lights. We had a really good view of it from the top of the hill on the other side of the street. I loved how they were selling oversized water buffalo hats and then people were wearing them! Also, the photo option was a hoot, gimme a bonnet, a chicken, and a pitchfork anytime for a picture! It was thankfully not too sunny or rainy, as there was no shelter. And there were prairie dog holes and signs warning of rattle snakes so that was crazy. But, in the end all of the money goes to a good cause and that is what matters. It would've been good if some food was included in the price or a bottle of water, but it is a charity event. I had some great beers and ciders, talked to some friendly brewers and got some stickers too!

I'd say all in all you couldn't really have a better beer fest in the outskirts of Aurora. Being from Denver this was quite a hike for myself and I had to be a bit cognizant of how many samples I did try, but I still had a great time. All of the breweries seemed to have brought out there big guns and were very willing to give a bit of a spiel on each. I was very happy to see the breweries in Parker and Highlands Ranch were there, since I rarely get out to this area to try out beers. Everything was delicious and overall I would recommend anyone to attend next year. Along with the good beers the bands were cool covering classic hits, as well as, giving some fresh new songs. They also had a little photo area where we could dress up as prairie folk.Overall great experience!

We sat in traffic for over 2 hours to go 10 miles, from I-25 to the facility. The police were not allowing cars to go through Larkspur, forcing the detour to Rt 105. 2. It is NOT handicap accessible; very hilly, no paved walks to go up to the food or shops. 3. The bathroom facilities were ok but not nearly enough of them. Of course, they badly needed to be cleaned. 4. The lines for food were a mess and you had to go to different windows to get what you wanted, for example french fries at one window, turkey legs at another, etc. Beer and soda at other places. Some picnic tables at the food areas, but more at another area that was poorly marked. 5. Individual stores were interesting and the folks working them were very nice. 6. Most of the festival employees were nice, but one person in character tossed water at us while we were in the food line. 7. IF YOU GO, get there early, when they open. 8. There were specific areas for the highland games, medieval Scottish lifestyle, lots of girls with bouncy curls and rigid upper bodies dancing, Scottish food, dogs, sheep herding, find your clan, and stuff you don't need to buy tents. Most venues were cash only, they did have 2 ATM machines for those unprepared (including us!). Nessie greets you as you walk in to the park. The midday ceremonies included a parade of dogs (adorable), bands, and clans, which were colorful, loud, and fun. The food was the most disappointing. There's only one tent with subpar options for ~$8-10. The best part of the festival are the whiskey tastings! We got there relatively early and signed up for Ardbeg. Once inside the tent, we were given little crackers, place mats with whiskey, and a walk through. We even got whiskey glasses for souvenirs! I especially loved being surrounded by thick heavy Scottish accents whichever way I turned. I'll be back again next year! Please work on your food options.
