    Cirque du Soleil - OVO

    (368 reviews)

Yes! Now THIS is the type of show that got me obsessed with Cirque Du Soleil. The last show that I…read morehad seen before this one was Toruk, which was based on James Cameron's movie Avatar. It was a complete and utter disappointment in every aspect. What a way to rebound! Ovo is the 14th unique Cirque show that I have seen and it had everything that I have come to love and expect from Cirque Du Soleil. There were feats of strength, skill, and artistry set to music that ranged from hauntingly beautiful to downright silly. The theme of the show revolves around an insect world. There are so many memorable characters that you witness. The sassy ladybug, the high flying crickets, the silly ants, and the other bugs comprise a varied insect kingdom. Some of the most memorable acts: Ants - They start off with Chinese foot juggling with items painted to look like food. Then they advance to Icarian Games where they are juggling each other. So humorous and entertaining. Flying couple - A man and woman are continuously sent flying into the air being pulled up by straps they are holding on to. This act actually kept making me cringe because they had no net and would have been seriously hurt if they would have lost their grip. Aerial cradle - A couple of huge guys were attached to scaffolding high above and flung the ladies airborne to other sections of the scaffolding. Breathtaking! Contortion - The name of the song that plays during this act is called "sexy web". These spiders might get me to reconsider my hatred of arachnids. Diabolos - I first saw these in La Nouba, but this solo artist was doing tricks with them I had never seen before. I'm still trying to figure out how he was able to release one stick and have it fling around him while the diabolo stayed on the string. Power track - Crickets come powering out of the stage tumbling on a long trampoline while other crickets fall from the top of a high wall onto trampolines. What a finale! The soundtrack was an instant purchase for me. It's interesting to read how the musical composer used Brazilian music as a heavy influence. The music doesn't sound anything like other Cirque shows that I've seen. Some of the music is insanely catchy and gets stuck in my head for days when I hear it. I left the arena with a smile on my face excited to see the next Cirque creation!

very much a very young kid's show. And it should be billed that way. Normally I live their shows…read morebut this was very boring with nothing exciting or visual about it. We left at intermission.

Went on a date night at Cosmo's Magic Theater and had an amazing time!…read more Cosmo is absolutely amazing and so talented! If you like magic or are looking for something unique to do in town his shows are absolutely amazing! He has 3 different sets of shows with different tricks and even a kids show during the day! He is super interactive with the crowd and picks participants throughout the crowd not just the front, which was nice. They have some snacks and soda/coffee/water before and during the show intermissions which was really nice but don't serve food or alcohol. Voodoo brewery is right across the street if you want to grab a bite and drink beforehand. Highly recommended checking this place out! Cant wait to go back and see the rest of his shows!

"An Evening of Enchantment: The Poetry of Magic with Cosmo"…read more There are nights that linger beyond time -- and tonight, in the heart of Colorado Springs, magic itself took a bow. For two wondrous hours, Cosmo held us spellbound, weaving wonder with every flick of the wrist-and every tale spun in golden thread.Cards danced, coins vanished, and logic surrendered to laughter and delight. The Magic Theater, adorned with vintage posters and filled with a cozy, inviting glow, was the perfect haven for this poetry of illusion. It felt as though the walls themselves whispered secrets of magicians past. Cosmo, with his gentle kindness and disarming charm, did not merely perform tricks he shared a part of his soul. His mastery of sleight of hand was matched only by the warmth of his storytelling. I choose to be poetic, for tonight was magical poetry itself a celebration of wonder, grace, and joy. Five stars, without hesitation, for a performance that rekindled the childlike spark in us all. To anyone visiting Colorado Springs make time for this rare and radiant experience. And as the Irish so wisely say: "May you always believe in a little magic, for those who do shall never grow old." Bravo, Cosmo -- you turned an evening into poetry. Jose Pienknagura Josepienknagura@gmail.com 2025
