Ajiic Tango, Ajijic…read more After a long day of hiking and walking around Ajijic, I was absolutely exhausted and waiting for my ride back to Guadalajara when I came across Ajiic Tango, an Argentinian restaurant. Being Argentinian myself, I thought, "Well, why not? A little taste of home sounds pretty good right about now!" The restaurant itself is lovely. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere, with lots of leather, comfortable seating, and an open, lively feel. The place was packed, and people seemed to be having a great time enjoying their meals, especially the meat dishes. It definitely had the feel of a popular local spot. The service was excellent, and I really appreciated the attention they gave me. They brought bread to the table right away, and it was warm, tasty, and wonderfully comforting. After a long day on my feet, that little touch was especially welcome. Sometimes, it's the simple things that make you happy! I ordered two empanadas. Now, here's where my Argentinian credentials come into play. They were okay, but just okay. Let's say they didn't quite meet my expectations. When you've grown up with Argentinian empanadas, you develop certain standards, and these didn't quite hit the mark for me. But that's my personal take, and someone else might enjoy them more. I finished with a special serving of ice cream and asked for dulce de leche on the side. They happily accommodated my request, and that definitely earned them extra points! Because let's be honest, dulce de leche makes almost everything better. I also enjoyed a very cold beer, which was excellent and exactly what I needed after all that walking. Overall, I really liked the atmosphere, the attentive service, and the welcoming feel of the place. Although the empanadas weren't quite what I would hope for as an Argentinian, the restaurant was busy, lively, and clearly appreciated by its customers. Would I recommend it? Yes! Especially if you're in Ajijic looking for a comfortable place to enjoy a drink, good service, and Argentinian-style food. Just keep in mind that my standards for empanadas may be a little unfairly high. After all, some things are hard to beat when they remind you of home!

I'm Armenian and have grown up on these foods. The owner was extremely professional and we exchanged recipes on the shush kabab. I knew they marinated their lamb two-three days it was like butter. The desserts were delicious and the price was excellent. We all left full and happy. What else can you ask for. We highly recommend this restaurant before a show and will definitely be back.

The french fries are giant and pillowy and perfectly fried. I like how the ketchup is served generously on the side and it tastes like actual Heinz, for all y'all fellow ketchup connoisseurs. The tiny halves d cherry tomato with parsley sprig is dressed with a touch of balsamic vinegar which is cute and yummy. Service is very attentive, with frequent refills of your drink and if you're a sports fan, American NFL can be seen playing on a smallish TV screen above the bar. Perhaps if they had a bigger screen with sound, I would be able to watch my beloved Houston Texans and upgrade to a 5 Estrella. Go JJ Watt! For dessert, I recommend the lemon pie, I didn't really like the local ice cream I got on previous visit. I recommend them highly!

The kitchen is to your left that is happily and quietly humming along. Before you is Latin American chic. Open air concept with some tables shielded from the elements. The tables to the rear have umbrellas and heating lamps as well as purse stands. The menu is somewhat typical of what one finds down here in that it is kind of all over the place. But that is something the tourists and gringos want. I would stay away from the Greek salad until the kitchen determines a proper dressing. The dressing that arrived on the Greek salad was sweet and not the acidic herb dressing used everywhere from Greece to the door of Abilitas, which to my New York tastes was jarring. But other dishes were quite good. The vegetables are fresh, the portions are ample, The service is attentive, portions are good sized, chicken always arrived moist, A genial atmosphere and attentive service. They even accommodated my service dog in such a lovely way. Do go.

At one point midway they stopped serving altogether.. Now I remember why we stopped going to Adelitas. Ribs, beans and cold slaw. They misguidedly decided to bring pre boiled ribs and finish them on a grill in situ. I am incredulous. I served big banquets of three times as many persons in less time. A joke
