This was Pan Latin-American Cuisine I was super hungry and ready to eat, we happened to be in this shopping center and so I decided to give Pollo Central a try. They offered rotisserie chicken, tacos with various options and various empanadas with a selection of meat options. I had the tacos, as I was looking for something quick and easy to eat. They were tasty and I enjoyed them. I've heard that the roasted chicken was special and a real delight. I also ate these Latin American cookies with a Carmel Center flaked with powder sugar on the outside of the cookie. They were a pure joy to eat. The food was delicious BUT the service was a little slow, it took a while to get our food. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. I would've rated them higher if the service was better. Also the tables were dirty, and it took several attempts to find a clean one. I would try this place again, I'd only hope they improve the customer service experience. read more

We have probably visited PC 10x in the last 2 months alone. The food is affordable, quick but fresh, so hot & delicious in every bite, plenty in every plate and as a family we are appreciative if we can check all those boxes! You can order online to pickup. Atmosphere is clean and spacious. The seating is a little uncomfortable with wood benches or chairs, but no cushions and a little hard for the kids to eat over their plates but not a major concern. I was a little disappointed in their beverage selection. Horchata/tamarindo juices seemed to be from a mix and was "syrup-y sweet". Fridge drinks, lots of standard soda and high fructose options. Would be nice to have some more natural options. We appreciate the cold and tasty free water dispenser - so that makes up for it! :) Thank you pollo central for saving lunch AND dinner! read more

The restaurant is clean and with rustic seating. The ladies rest room is very clean. They're patient and friendly. I love to come here for the carnitas! Their rotisserie chicken tastes good, but I have my favorite spot to go to for that. They are pretty close so the next time I stop in and get a order of my favorite dish, I will come back and update this post with the photo. I keep eating it and forgets to take a picture, most times I finish it in the car before I get home, no time to take pictures. Lol The only issue I have is I love to order the Carnitas only, not the entire meal, because there are times when I don't want all that food I just want the side and they put three pieces of Carnitas in there and still charge the full price which is totally unfair; if it's a side, it's a side, if it's a meal, it's a meal then you charge the prices accordingly. I am willing to come back and come back as often as I want to but I do not appreciate feeling like I've been ripped off. read more

So the Mrs. says she's getting food from a neighboring business and asked if I wanted to try the chicken from Pollo Central...man, am I happy I said "yes." Wowza!!! As you can tell from my profile pic (which is from almost a decade ago), I'm an old man. I have eaten my fair share of south/central/Peruvian chicken in my life (my fave used to be a place called Edy's in Bailey's Crossroads back in the mid-90s). This place is in the top two (with Edy's...and it might be a tie). Note that I'm only reviewing the chicken here but I hear the menu is filled with fun sounding other food. The chicken was amazing. White and dark meat were both cooked flawlessly and they both carried a smokey tinge that really pushed it over the top. The skin has a peppery coating and the two sauces (a mayonnaise-based one and a spicy green one) were both amazing. I (embarrassingly) ate a whole chicken without hesitation. I am telling you...if you like perfectly executed rotisserie chicken, then this is the place for you. I'm never going back to the other place I used to frequent for chicken...Pollo Central is the only one for me from now on. read more

Decided to stop by one day for lunch and I'm glad I did. Conveniently located in the aspens hill shopping center , reasonably priced , and friendly employees. I ordered the quarter dark meal with fried yuca, rice and beans, and extra medium sauce. The yuca was fried just right, the rice and beans were good as well , and the chicken was juicy with crispy skin and cooked to perfection. Dry, bland food. Got my regular that I get at any Peruvian chicken place and....:this wasn't it. This place was the closest to me at the time and I was starving after the gym. The rice was bland, the plantains were hard not soft at all, and the chicken was dry and not very flavorful. I think I've only been to one place worse than this. I don't think they take much pride in their food, which struck me as odd bc the patrons and employees were clearly Latino/a. Literally Sardis is so much better, or my fave, Pollo Cabana in Greenbelt. Would never return, I'm unsure how they have so many positive reviews! read more

A newer Peruvian style chicken restaurant in the Aspen Hill shopping center on ConnAve. The chicken here is pretty good. Consistent so far for the three times I have been here. Yucca is generally well fried and fluffy. Didn't care for the Mac and Cheese, too buttery/creamy for me and kinda salty. The salad is surprisingly good! Way better than the chopped iceberg at Crisp and Juicy. French fries are solid as well. Also they ask if you want your chicken chopped into 8 pieces, which nowhere else I have been to offers in the event that matters to you. The sauces remind me of Crisp and Juicy in that they come in small little plastic containers. read more

I come here 2-3 times a month, and I've been coming here since they opened. The food is consistently very good. The chicken empanadas and pork quesadilla are two of my favorites (the crème and quac with the quesadilla are perfect sides). The Peruvian chicken is really good, and the green sauce is excellent (if you like it spicy). Even the flan (in the refrigerator case) is delicious. My only complaint: They used to have a chicken sandwich available for lunch, but they took it off the menu. It was sooo good! Prices are reasonable. Two thumbs up! read more

So this is a new spot the opened up in Aspen Hill shopping center so now they have almost everything, theres plenty of competition for Peruvian style chicken places around here like pollo rico, la brasa, don pollo, king pollo AND the list goes on. I first went in and grabbed the whole chicken plus multiple sides family meal, it was about 30$ which isn't bad to easily feed 4 people. It was good so of course I went back and decided to dine in, ordered the lomo saltado which I try just about everywhere and WOW did it impress. It was great plus this place has somewhat of a leg up on other places because of the size, location, and very nice restaurant vibe. The tables are nice and big and the food is brought to you while you wait plus they always have a game on tv. I really like the place. read more

We saw a great quesadilla on Diners Drive-in and Dives last night and searched yelp to find a great one nearby. We were starving so got flautas, tacos, steak quesadilla, a beef empanada, 1 whole chicken plus yuca and plantains. The chicken will be tomorrow's lunch and dinner, we only tasted a bite, but polished off the flautas, tacos, and quesadilla. The flautas were perhaps my fave, really well seasoned and so fresh. Maybe even more that the food was the service and ambience - super friendly cashier gave me insights that were right on (beef empanada was excelente, as were flautas) and THOROUGHLY CLEANED each table after each family left - cleaned mine right before we sat and didn't miss an inch. This really matters when eating out w kids who rub every surface. The bathrooms were also very clean and tidy which makes me feel much better about food prep. And you could watch whole kitchen in action - everyone alert, organized, and energetic! read more

Relatively new place in Aspen Hill shopping center right next to Jerry's Subs. DELICIOUS! Their chicken is more flavorful and moist than other chicken places of the same style - even their white meat was pretty tender and not dry. The fried yucas are also delicious and come in a really big portion. They gave us 8 sauces for the family meal - 4 green spicy and 4 of the milder sauce. I love that creamy sauce in combination with the chicken and yucas. I think my family and I like this place better than Crisp & Juicy chicken in Leisure World. Accept the decor my first experience was horrible. I walked in and wasn't greeted like others were. Then when it was my time to order I thought I would try in Spanish as the previous person placed their order in Spanish and the girl looked at me as if I had lobsters coming out of my ears. Then she replied back to me in English. So, no problem, the rest of my order I did in English and each time I asked a question the girl taking my order seemed frustrated. When I was done with my order and she was ringing me up, I asked a simple question if this place is new as I just moved back into the area from Chicago after 7 years, she gave me the most nastiest look saying no, we've been here for 3 years already. BIGGEST attitude ever. After getting my food, I noticed that it needed a bit of salt. When I went to ask a gentleman behind the counter after he was done talking to another customer, he was full of smiles, then when I asked him for salt. His smiles dropped and just grabbed a salt shaker and placed it in the counter and walked away. Being from Argentina, and traveled a ton experiencing different foods in different countries, being back within home in Maryland, I've never had a bad experience to the food and especially from the staff. I will never be back here again. Had to put 1 star since zero stars are not able to be done. read more

Sardis is pretty much my bar when comparing other Peruvian chicken places and I would say it's def as good as Sardis. The ambiance is very nice and they have GREAT customer service there. My husband and I ate inside and someone came around to throw our plates away and offered to get me a bag to go when they don't have waiters. You seat yourself and they give you a number for your table so they know where to bring your food. The service was very fast, we had our food within 5 mins. I would say the only downside is that although the seats look nice they're super uncomfortable. read more
