Never truly understood how this place stays in business year after year.. it's been a staple of the…read moreMain Street commercial district for years, but I've never figured out why. The clothes are not particularly chic or stylish or unique- it's an overpriced J Jill or Coldwater Creek for the middle aged set. As far as customer service? Meh.. style, uniqueness, variety or quality of stock? Meh.. rye clothes are overpriced and off middling, lackluster style and quality in my book... I could never find anything I'd be willing to buy at even a deep discount other than perhaps a standard issue black tank top, which I can buy anywhere by virtually any design house at any price.. let's be real, a pair of flowy , crinkled rayon loose pants by some random label are not worth $119- and I literally just spotted that very item at that very price. A coordinating tunic/top at a comparable price tag, etc, some boring white tops, a few tank tops, some button down top/tunics that I wouldn't buy and some accessories too middle aged for me are status quo. Price points? It isn't outrageously pricey for the area, yet the prices were too high for what they're offering... As for layout/displays? The boutique definitely is laid out well, but that's about all I can say. The shop is clutter free, clean, well laid out.. If I was a stay at home soccer mom type, who goes to church events and was not into mixing street style with high and low pieces, perhaps this might be my speed, although I doubt it. Even if I was older or had kids, the clothes still wouldn't be upmarket or unique enough for me and I dislike the 'higher end' price tag on items that decidedly are not high end or even mid range luxury. While I did get a quick greeting from a sales associate (some food in the store didn't rate a glance or a hello, so perhaps I should feel impressed), it really wasn't friendly and I could tell by her response that she was totally uninterested if I was browsing or buying. Nothing I saw even looked like something I'd see in a fashion magazine or on a Saks or Macys website. If I want to pay those prices, and I often do, I want style and quality- so I'd rather buy something from Michael Kors and know it's worth the $. Not for me... sorry.. ...

I've stopped in many times looking more like a "bag lady" than a customer, & I ve always been treated with courtesy & friendliness! It's unfortunate & UNUSUAL if you happened to shop there on a "bad day" for a salesperson. Things go on in everyone's life that have nothing to do with you. Unless you were called a racist name or you were refused service, shame on you for your OWN racist & libelous accusation!!

Northern Country Chic - Sold me a dress with a rip but refuses to do anything about it

I was right with them, following them to three different locations in Fenton and one in Howell, shopping and supporting their small business at four different stores, bringing my kids and buying them clothing and accessories as well. Even during the lock downs I tried to shop when they were open and support them. I followed all of their media and signed up for several of their text reminders of sales and several loyalty programs. But I am very disappointed with how I am being treated as a loyal customer who wants to be there for local shops. I went in and bought, among several other items, a $62 dress for a wedding in July. Their system was not working at the time and I was told they no longer print receipts. (They were able to text me one). I took the dress home and did not attempt to wear it until August only a month after I purchased it. I put it on and saw there was a very large rip in the dress that I had not noticed in the shop since it is a maxi dress a moment before I left for the party. I was devastated since I love the dress. I attempted to email them and call them about the issue. I did not even want my money back, I would have taken an exchange or a store credit and would have just shopped for other items. I finally got a hold of them and was told it was simply too long for me to return the item. It has barely been a month and I did not even wear it. I was very nice and polite and did not get angry over the phone. The person I spoke to was also very polite but insisted the owner would do nothing about it because they wanted to get rid of their summer clothing to make room for more clothing even though they still had the dress I was referring (not sure how they knew unless the owner looked at my email and failed to respond) and the dress was on sale. They could have swapped the dress and sent the ripped one back to the manufacturer. This does not seem like a business that values their customers and I am not a person who can afford a $62 loss. It was very expensive to purchase and now I am going to have to find a seamstress to sew the rip even though it won't quite look right because I am not able to throw away a dress, so now this will cost even more money that I do not have to rectify this unfortunate situation.
