So I've been drinking a lot of wine lately but Champagne, and the many other forms of Sparkling wine still somewhat eludes me. I guess I've just not been keen on finding the best stuff yet. I do know that the majority of the time up until recently I've been drinking shitty stuff. There are a couple of true revelatory experiences and a handful of very goods.
Pol Roger was brought to my attention literally a few days ago and I've learned it is a favorite of the British Royal Family and the passed Sir Winston Churcill which they have a line specifically for. I guess they might be half decent :)
What's really surprising is that they might be one of the better price performance values ever. The good stuff is usually very expensive and everything else that is cheap is usually priced accordingly. For about $40 US, the non vintage Brut Reserve is quite good. You learn something new every day and it's great to discover a new value. read more
