There we were, minding our own business, wandering around Reims having just arrived - we thought…read morewhy not, after a long drive, get the lie of the land...Monday we discover the town and Tuesday we do the champagne trail
Passing the Tourist Office near the Cathedral, we decided to pop in and see if there was anything we hadn't heard about, we would pick up some leaflets of things to see etc etc
At the back, there was a little mini bar with 2 guys in it promoting their champagne...well, why not, neither of us are driving...call it a pre-dinner drink
We tried all I think, the Rose was maybe open for a while and I'm not really a fan, the Brut was good but the simple Tradition was excellent and at 16.40€ a bottle was a steal...had to be done and we bought a case in the end on the grounds it was a great aperitif champagne and perfect for the summer
On top of all that the 2 guys were great - friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful....I think we are going to try and pass their way some time to get more!!! We asked if they would think of attending any of the Vignerons Indepents wine fairs in Paris or preferably the Levallois-Perret produce foire towards the end of May...producteurs and traiteurs come from everywhere to that little foire...they were going to check it out
Very much recommended - next time this way, we will call and visit
